Here is question that we were talking about last Sunday night at church. You have 2 people who are need of help due to no action of their own. Lets say they were in a car accident and couldn't work for 6 weeks. You only have the resorces to help one of them. The only difference is one of them is a commited Christian, the other is a non Christian. Who do you help? and Why?

I would say the Christian. I can't remember the passage that speaks on this, but I seem to recall some Scripture saying that our first priority should be the the Body.
But I don't think there's really a wrong answer here. A lot of it will depend on the specific situation, and what your relationship to both individuals is like.

The Bible is clear that we take care of those in our own household first, then those in our congregation. After this, we may reach out to those outside our congregation.

"As we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, specially they of the household of faith."

"If any man care not for his own, he is worse than an unbeliever, and has denied the faith."

What did Billy Sunday and Bob Pierce have in common, beyond amazing global ministries?

They both lost an oldest child to suicide.

Apparently, family must come before ministry. Even though ministry generates more public recognition.

Also -- the only way to really feed the hungry is at the table of the Lord. Those who place themselves under the protection and discipline of a godly church have all the resources of heaven behind them. And quite a few of earth!

And, God's Word makes the willingness to work a necessary condition for receiving charity. "If any man will not work, neither let him eat."

The best option is to pray. Your Heavenly Father knows which would be the better of the two options.

I would split the monies and pray that someone else make up the rest of the needed funds for them both.

Thanks

For the christian, they have Christ to look forward to in eternity. To the 'sinners', they only have now according to some.

That seems a little odd to me. It's like feeding and clothing a stranger's children and letting your own go hungry and cold because, after all, you children see you all the time.

To me, family (believers) should get our best when a choice has to be made.

To be honest, I can actually understand the arguments on both sides of the issue, which is why I still say that the best One to decide this kind of situation should be the Holy Spirit.

I have never actually thought about this. At first, I thought the non-Christian to show charity and sow a seed, but in reading a few verses regarding charity, I believe I was incorrect. Galatians 6 speaks to this situation, and I believe that charity should go first to the Christian, then to others.

Say Wes I notice you have a picture of George W. Bush eating corn. Whats up with that? Please admin. I know it's off the subject, but the curisocity is killing me.
