Lexie- I LOVE to watch the shocked/horrified looks of people when you come into a store- HOW DID YOU GET HERE?? Ummmm....a car....they do work on roads that are clear of snow.... I especially love coming out in the first snow when the boys who don't get to drive their big trucks all summer go waaayyy overboard and the roads will never be that great again...until spring!

Chelle- yes, babysitting is a challenge- I learned that one!

Aquarium eating hamsters....have they been e radiated or something?? You are a dedicated hamster mama!

Crystal- It is just people- in the north, they all run to the grocery store to stock up on canned goods in case the light dusting turns into three feet of snow, in the south, it's plywood- I'm with you, we'd have it stored and cut in the garage and (if possible) use the same stuff year to year until it was too damaged... but people will always be people, bury their heads in the sand or panic

We have the same thing in the south. When there is a forecast of snow (which means it may melt quickly and then refreeze into ice, which is very different than dealing with loads of snow, but a very real problem) there are hoards of people who run to the store for canned goods, propane tanks, batteries, milk, and bread. It's nuts. It happens several times during the winter... why not stock up at the beginning of the winter and just skip the milk and bread?

Okay, now I am crying. I just can't help it. My biggest fear in the whole world is to lose my Lorne even by natural means...

And now I can't get those awful images of that bloody plane out of my head and I feel freaked out all over again.

lol! My one hamster is a chewing machine. She will chew chew chew. I let her out at night to run around the house in a hamster ball and even after 2 hours of doing that she will chew her cage to get out. She's also jumpy so I can't hold her without her jumping out of my hands and making me catch her. My other hamster never chews and will just run in his wheel and look cute. He also never jumps and will sit in my hands and look around. They are complete opposites.

Paul was laughing the other day and commenting that in Germany they would only cancel PT when then roads were black ice...until then they still ran and did pt (outside!!)...but here they cancel it if it is raining...lol

babysitting....I gave that up when the baby I watched poured a whole bottle of laundry soap all over our carpet, pitched a fit and nearly ripped my earring out of my ear, and his father wouldn't pay me because of every excuse in the book (I only watched the kid for two days!!!)......so after that experience, I never did it again. Then I had kids....lol

Thank you Yolanda. You are sweet.

Lorne told me that he is freaked out and can't get those horrid images out of his head either so he won't fly today. Someone else can do it if they want to... Two days ago he had another REALLY bad day and couldn't stop crying all night long. He just couldn't get the images out of his head and still cannot believe that man is dead and does not like to know how it happened. He is also sick and tired of people telling him stuff he is sick of hearing. And how they are keeping stuff from him because they don't think he will be able to handle it. Doing that just makes things WAY worse for Lorne. I am so sad my Lorne had to witness everything. It was bad enough just seeing the crashed plane when they brought it to the hangar.

After hearing about how one guy crashed his plane in the mountains (he walked away thank God) and has landed really hard a couple times while another guy that Lorne works with was with him (freaked him out) it makes me even more worried. I don't trust people when they drive cars and I will never trust anyone that flies no matter how many years they have flown. If a plane dies you crash. If a car dies you pull over to the side of the road while it is slowing down.

Edited to delete a smiley face. My mouse is dumb and if I don't move it off the screen it will sometimes click on a smiley face and add it for me.

Oh, and Paul from his work is flying with the pilot in this plane today. They are going to Reno. On his facebook he wrote that he is packing his parachute for his flight today. Yeah, that doesn't make it seem very safe to me.

LOL...we walk! I like to ask...how did you get here?

(((Nicole))) I know it's hard, praying for you both.

Sarah - I have far less patience with other people's children than with Akeelah. Before I had Akeelah I could babysit any child!

Nicole again - I don't mind the xbox so much because I have the Wii. And normally Dh is pretty good about playing it only when I'm asleep or reading, but now that he's home he's playing it at the times I'm usually watching tv when he's not here...and that's not something that should played with.

Thanks you Lexie. Haha yeah, when my schedule is messed up I tend to feel annoyed. I like my days alone. I usually feel a bit annoyed when my family visits on weekdays because that is when I do my cleaning and everything else. When my brother came I just let him do whatever he wanted while I kept up with housework so I wouldn't get behind since my parents were coming in 2 days. I hate getting behind on cleaning.

Lorne and I just talked and we both feel a bit better. We're gonna start praying together again. We need to know what God wants us to do. Lorne doesn't want to move so if he wants to change jobs he wants to find one here. I am willing to do whatever he needs. If he wants to go back to school part time to do a career change we will make that work, if he wants to stay at his job now we will make that work, if he wants to do avionics somewhere else we will make that work. I will move anywhere for him which gives him peace of mind. I don't care where we live or what we live in as long as we are safe and together. We both really hope that things will get better with time and that the next few planes are safe. If something else happens that will be the end of his job because I know there is no way he could deal with something bad happening again. I wouldn't be able to deal with it either. We are both praying that things will be fine and safe.

(((Nicole))) Planes terrify me. I was terrified when D flew to Utah, and that was in a huge plane, the kind that rarely crash around here. To be honest, I'd be a little concerned if I lived in Victoria. If it hits where its most likely at this point (which is just north of us ) then they will get some very bad weather there since they could be on the "bad side" of it. Hopefully they're watching the news and making preparations like stocking up on clean water and canned goods just in case. Tornadoes are very likely in that area.

So we have a hotel room booked in two different cities and it's probably still not enough. We have one to the south of us and one to the north, but it's so uncertain at this point we don't know what we're going to do.

Thanks for the hugs Crystal.

Lorne called his brother this morning. They said they are going to board up their house and get supplies and stay. Okay, they are both Canadian and have NEVER lived through a hurricane. I think they should leave. Its not like they have kids or pets to worry about. And its not like they've never driven or stayed somewhere out of town. She's in different cities almost everyday flying back and forth and staying in hotels. I really wish they would just leave so that they are safe. They have the money to go anywhere in the world so neither of us can figure out why they are choosing to stay. They are both very stubborn people.

I too noticed that the path is headed right for them so that is why I got worried and wanted Lorne to call them. I still wish they would just leave. There could be floods, tornadoes, trees and object damaging homes and who knows what else. I just hope nothing happens and they are fine.

I hope you guys are fine too. ((((hugs and prayers))))

Nicole, I have family in Victoria and they always stay too. I probably would if I lived there. It's not directly on the coast or anything. They'll be okay. They might lose electricity, but if they board up and stock up on supplies, they'll be ok.

Thanks for the hugs Jae Well, I feel a bit better (not crying anymore), but I still feel worried. I am also glad we communicate well and easily. It makes things so much easier. And we are always on the same page so that makes things easier too.

Crystal, I hope they stocked up on supplies. I would think so... I just hope that this thing passes with no major damage. If we ever go visit them it will be in the Spring or winter.

My husband can not for the life of him understand why people stay during hurricanes when they have an opportunity to leave. He remembers one particularly bad one from his childhood (he can't remember which one) and he doesn't ever want to live through one of those again.

I just hope they are safe and that the storm isn't as bad as it is supposed to be. That is scary for your husband, but I am glad he lived through it! I would be long gone if a bad storm came here and we were told to evacuate.

Hahahaha some people make me laugh! Check out my blog to see why!

I can't believe people on the coast stay either. It's not very smart, IMO.

The hurricane center has now said that they think Ike will hit as a Cat 4... not good, not good, not good at all! The storm surges from a cat 4 can be up to something like 18 feet, I think. Yowsa. I'm glad I don't like on north padre island (they've already called for an evacuation there). If it hits a little further north like we're thinking it will, it could be devastating. All those oil rigs and stuff out there? Not good. Ready for more gas price hikes, everyone?

I so want to fall asleep and wake up a week from now. Or two.

Crystal, I've decided that the hurricane cannot hit and be a Category 4 storm. Because I said so.

There. I said it.

Boo, Hurricane, for wrecking everybody's fun.

Awwwww (((((Crystal)))))))) If it goes very North you can just keep on drving and come stay with us. I would be scared and want to sleep and wake up in a week or two too (like tutu).

It's a cat 4 now? Yikes! The last I heard it was cat 3 and that sounded bad enough. My BIL and his gf work for the oil companies... fun.

Oh, and our gas prices have already gone up because of what the storms could do. We live in oil country and our prices keep going up! They went down for a while, but we knew it was too good to be true. We are saving like over $300/month on gas because Lorne is taking his motorcyle to work and back, but it will be too cold in a couple of weeks for him to do that.
