I'm having a pity party moment.
I'm so lonely lately! Hubby is working his tail off, and I understand that, but I'm tired of being here by myself all the time. We hardly even made time to go to church and then he was back at it. Poor guy, working so hard to get this house stuff done.
I just hate sitting here alone all the time. Babe fell asleep in his high chair, it's not bedtime yet, so letting him sleep a few minutes while I do dishes (err...procrastinate and check email)

*sigh*

I'll be ok, just wanted to vent a bit.

Crystal, you must live close to Mexico, then. I'm so sorry about the evacuation. Is is a definite evac then?

Yolanda, I'm sorry you're by yourself. I think a short pity party is totally in order.

((((((Yolanda)))))))That is a real bummer. I hope gets off work soon, so you won't be lonely.

The job interview went great. I saw the interviewers before me and after me, and one girl was slouching with her elbows on the table during the interview (the intviews took place in the eating area next to the deli) and the other girl came in jeans and a tee shirt. I wore interview attire and I sat up straight, so hopefully the interviewer noticed. LOL!

Ugh, Crystal, I hope you don't have to go! I didn't realize you lived that far south.

Christina, I hope you get the job!

Well, the thing is that the cone of uncertainty with this thing stretches across the entire state and on down into northern Mexico. Our local weather guy seems to think it will move north some, but who knows. No one really can know what's going to happen at this point... the models have been changing from one report to the next. It's a weird one. Unfortunately, it has the potential to be a really nasty one too.

Ok, explain something to me.

People lined up for hours at the Home Depot, to get plywood to board up their windows. In a coastal city, where we do this Every.Year. You'd think people would realize a better plan is to make sure they have the necessary preparations at the beginning of the season, right? Or does that only make sense to me? It's not rocket science, people! Every year the news shows huge lines at Home Depot. Every.YEAR.

Maybe so. We just chalk it up to a necessary expense of living in our town. *sigh*

I wonder if these are the same people that don't get flood insurance, and then act surprised when their home owner's insurance doesn't cover their flooded house.

Good Morning everyone.

I just wanted to say hi. Sometimes I get so excited to be privilaged to stay at home with my kids and homeschool them. Somedays I just want to run screaming the other way. Is it just me or does other people find they feel the same way?

I will gladly send my husband over! He left his summer job two weeks ago to be available for any teaching the comes up, but it's rare to get supply work in the first few weeks of September, so he is home and bored and getting on my nerves!

Actually, I shouldn't say that, I woke up this morning to find the dishes done (though I did ask him to do that), the burners on the stove cleaned, and the family room cleaned and rearranged.

I woke up early this morning to get Akeelah registered for ballet classes. It only took me 30 minutes to get through, which isn't bad. I only used one computer, when usually I use two computers and the phone in an attempt to get through.

Yolanda- Oh, I feel your pain- hopefully this will all end soon!

Michelle- ummmmm......YES- often!

Crystal- It is just people- in the north, they all run to the grocery store to stock up on canned goods in case the light dusting turns into three feet of snow, in the south, it's plywood- I'm with you, we'd have it stored and cut in the garage and (if possible) use the same stuff year to year until it was too damaged... but people will always be people, bury their heads in the sand or panic

Today...I attack the fridge...must wipe everything, and a rather large elf decided to put an open beer on the top shelf at the back...yep, the shelf can only hold so much man! I'm hoping to get that done while they watch SuperY... we'll see...

Hope everyone has good days! Oh, Nicole, why not put the hamster in an aquarium? Can't chew those up!

Today should be an interesting day. I have to completely pack - from scratch to go to my inlaws 5 hr away. We are leaving in 12 1/2 hrs when my hubby gets off work. I've been putting this off for days and now it finally cuaght up with me. (Atleast I did all the laundry). Pray for me that I don't pull me hair out and that I don't forget anything. Oh and also pray for a safe trip and that I don't want to strangle dear MIL. We are going up for his bro.'s wedding so I promise to behave myself.... well atleast try to. lol

Haha Lexie you are stuck at home all day with your husband! Seriously, if Lorne was home for 2 weeks I would probably go nuts too because I am used to being home all day by myself and used to doing things my way. When he does have time off he goes to the gym or does something active in the mornings to burn off some energy or he gets restless which he knows annoys me. Now, if Lorne had 2 weeks off for vacation and we had something planned that would be totally different and more fun!

Jennifer, I used to use small terrariums for my mice, but they always knocked their wheels over and their water over which soaked their whole house making it stink badly (shavings stink if they get wet) and it would be cold for them. And I don't use bottles for their water because they always drip. I use bird dishes that I hook to their cages. It keeps their water clean and they don't spill it. My mousie was good and just lived in an aquarium with the lid off and never escaped even though she could have. Hamsters are different and will do anything to escape. Mine would knock their wheels over and chew through the terrarium top for sure! My one hamster already did that actually. She chewed right through the plastic and jumped out onto my hands.

Crystal, do you think people from Victoria have to evacuate too? Or are they far enough away from the coast? I tried getting Lorne to call his brother last night, but he didn't. I hope you guys don't have to leave. I would be so scared of storms like that.

LOL...people do that here and I think "ummm people, we live in Canada...you didn't see this coming???" Not to mention that nothing is more fun than going out in a snow storm to the store. Last winter we went to Blockbuster and the girl thought we were crazy (though she was happy to have someone there.)

Nicole - usually it's not so bad on the days Dh isn't working (usually he only works 3 or 4 days a week) because we just pick up and go do stuff, but because I'm looking after the baby now it's hard. We don't have the car seat for her, plus by the time we got somewhere, the parents would be coming to pick her up.

Next week I go back to looking after the baby for only two days a week, so things will be better. (I swear I'm going to throw the xbox through the window soon though!)

I always thought it would be nice to watch children in my home, but I never stop to think how I would loose my freedom during the day. I will pass

Today we went to the mall and I let Hunter walk around for a bit. The main area of our mall opens at 9:30 and a lot of people use that time to walk it like a track (its not the biggest mall you have ever seen). So I let Hunter walk and he loved that, thought he was big stuff. I was not much in a clothes shopping mood so we went to Toys R Us to walk around and then stopped by work to see hubby. Now we are home and Hunter is playing very nicely by himself. I am in such a blah mood today, but we had a spat last night and I did not sleep well after. Definitely looking forward to naptime [:)

I've never seen anyone stock up on anything in the winter here just in case there's a bad storm. We've also never missed school due to snow either. Sometimes the kids who took buses couldn't get to school because the driver's wouldn't drive that day, but I took the city bus and they never stopped running. Or I would end up just having to walk to school.

Lexie, have fun throwing the xbox out the window lol! I am so glad Lorne doesn't play video games much. And if we play we play together which isn't very often either. Mostly in the winter on really cold days. I'm looking forward to finishing Resident Evil 4 soon. We quit playing when the weather got nice. My brother used to be a vid kid, but he is bored of video games (finally!) and reads now. He wouldn't even bring his wii over when he stayed with us. I wanted to box with him, but I kicked his buttinsky last time so he probably didn't want to lose again... really he hates losing to me.

I feel worried. Lorne just told me that he might be going flying this morning in a plane that they just fixed up to make sure a few screens work again. If they don't work the plane will still fly which is good, but it still makes me nervous. It was hit by lightning a few weeks ago so they had to fix a few things. It's a really crazy fast plane (I think it might be the one where they have to wear oxygen masks... maybe I'm wrong). But anyways, I don't want him to fly in these small planes and I feel like I am going to start crying now. After that whole accident at work (3 months ago yesterday) I am super scared about even thinking about Lorne going up in one. Especially after hearing about how many people have died in these planes. In the last 7 years his boss has lost 7 friends and another guy has lost like 9 friends in small planes.

Sometimes I wish he would just tell me he doesn't want to work there anymore and goes and takes another job where I know he won't have to go up in the planes... Cuz he has to go up in them after all the initial test flights are done since he is the one working on them...

Oy...
