Maybe she should learn to sew.

We did the round of used bookstores and I found a Latin text. It won't do for a whole curriculum but it's a great resource.

We were looking into foreign language curriculum for my daughter. We went to Half Price Books, and they had a lot of stuff there. We bought a French set, new with CD's for $30. It might not get her very far, but it will definitely suit her for this year +, and it is much better than paying $250! Plus, I took 4 years of French in school, so even though I cannot speak much, I know that it will come back to me and I can help her a lot. I was so excited!
We got a beginner drum cd and book set for son for like $4 or $5. It was twice that at the bargain table at the regular bookstore. Plus I found another book that my daughter wanted at the Revolutionary War monument that we went to on our vacation. (It is about mothers in the Revolutionary War.) They actually had a copy, and it was (literally) half price! LOL
We got our curriculum, and the plan is to start on Tuesday.

BTW - Hubby is down here and we are working on the landscaping. We are having some very nice, calm, productive conversations. God is so good. Thanks for your prayers!!

Great to hear misham!

I have thought of learning how to sew. I would actually kind of like to, but I don't have the money to buy a sewing machine. I'm still praying Dh finds a job that will work for him for supplemental income. Until then, I have my moments of stress over finances because it is way too tight. We end up dipping into our savings every month and every month I hope and pray that we will get paid enough to cover what we have used, and pay our bills with some left over. So... no sewing machine for me. I did see one at a yard sale, it looked nice, and had a table with it for 70 dollars. I know nothing about sewing machines/table, so I did not dare.

Language-

We paid the $$$ for rosetta stone and then found livemocha.com it is free and the bulk of the lessons I have done/seen done in the first section are done just like rosetta stone.

I have my highschool kids signed up in German and instructed to NOT post in the forums or list any particulars in their profiles. So far so good.

Oh and they send out progress reports to the email that you sign up with that the student can then email to mom.

and did I mention it is FREE???

How are you and Brian coping with all this? I'm sure after just having a baby this has all been trying times. You are all in my prayers.

We are tired. Mostly a good tired. I think. LOL The kids have been wild and whiny all day and are really pushing things, but that would probably be normal with the new baby alone. They seem to think that because I am sore and Brian is in a wheelchair that they can do whatever they want. They are learning that Daddy still has one good arm and they can bend over his good leg if need be. He's been great about doing all he can too. He even put a load of laundry in the washer this morning, with the aide of his grabber. I haven't had to do much for him once I got his shell on so he could get up.

Oh Gosh- I just loaded some of the test shots I did with the digital for my photo project and *Bites Lip* I think I need some kleenexes.

I have to do the post production work and upload them but. Uh Yeah... I was able to "distance" myself from the action earlier as I was concerned with composition and lighting and all.

Link to the album I will be putting them in ass I get them done found here

Oh my goodness, Ezri. I'm pretty emotional today and that made me just about cry. I am so glad you love your man and know he loves you and the kids. It is such a blessing to have a loving and stable marriage.

Donna, you and Brian have certainly figured out the formula for cute kids.

The rabbit pen project is done. It's amazing how much you can accomplish when you actually stay home for a couple of days. The rabbits now have about 4x as much space as they did, which means I can keep more girls and get more babies. The breeding this summer has been extremely disappointing, so I got a new boy and am keeping the 2 girls who have been proven breeders in the past.

Now on to the chicken coop project . . . do they ever end?

Cindy--interesting how you say Donna and Brian have figured out the formula for cute kids THEN you talk about building rabbit pens. Are you trying to say something?!

My run this morning didn't go quite as well as hoped. Pea soup fog at the start, then the sun came out... So, it could be the terrible condtions (I don't handle heat well) or most likely I'm not recovered from last week's race.

LOL honestly, the only things breeding around here are the rabbits! The sheep are already bred and the goats aren't scheduled to date the guy next door for a couple more months. There are no humans involved in this breeding program.

No he is not retired. I'm old, and he is older... but we aren't that old! Although, somedays.....

Cindy, do you raise the bunnies to eat them?

I knew a lady that raised cats to eat them. I didn't believe my boys when they told me, and we had given her our "mean" cat when we moved.... I later found out it was true. My boys don't think our cat ever survived there.

We raw feed our dogs and cats. I like rabbit meat, but no one else in my house does. We'll also have goat and lamb later in the year, which no one else likes either , so much of that will go to the dogs and cats as well. I'll keep some out for myself and to sneak into curry, etc. (shhh, don't tell) where no one will notice. I want to raise a beef calf too, but we need to rearrange the barn before we can do that. I think I've gotten my dh talked into pigs, though, so they should be coming next spring. We also have chickens and ducks, mostly for eggs but we will butcher extras.

Don't mind me . . . I just prattle on about my farm stuff, and it's ok if your eyes glaze over.

I am jealous! That is what we want, on a small scale. Once we sell our house, pay off some debt, save some money, and find the perfect place - we will be there!

Thanks for sharing, Ez. We looked at another program at a homeschool fair, but I can't remember the name (we have the info up in Cleveland). It was not as pricey as Rosetta Stone, but still up there. I will check out the livemocha.com site!!

Well, not only did Aunt Flo come early but she came with a vengeance. I have had really bad cramping and a terrible headache with nausea since about 6AM. I eventually went back to sleep till about 8:15 but it was bad enough it was keeping me awake. I tried to nap this afternoon but my head hurts too bad. If I come on here, at least I get a little distracted. The only good news is that when I have really bad symptoms it usually doesn't last as long.
