My two older girls wear tank tops under their shirts regularly; I'm very glad. It's nice to see the longer styles too.

Interesting about the credit card. When E went back to camp the girl who drove had her dad's credit card to fill up with gas. I guess it worked OK, but I won't be trying that.

Tracy, I'm sure your hubby appreciates your support of his relationship with his son.

That is aggravating about the insurance and car stuff Garsy. It's hard to see. Even 75$ insurance for a family it a good deal.

Our primaries were today. The state board of ed race is always interesting. Kansas keeps going back and forth on whether or not evolution is required to be taught. I don't know who won yet.

Registration is tomorrow, I'm not ready. My son's principal emailed me back today about next year's teacher for him. It's someone I don't know, but since I wasn't too crazy about him having any of the teachers that I do know there, that's probably a good thing. I'm not saying those teachers are bad; just saying I didn't think any of them would be the best for N.

It's been busy; N and hubby helped with the boy scout fundraiser renting stadium seats at the rodeo and demolition derby several nights in the past week. Tonight hubby helped our next door neighbor who is moving this week. K's best friend is moving tomorrow too. Her and another friend went over their this evening.

Linz does the same thing. I think some of those shirts are made to do that.

And we wonder why there are young women who wear short shirts or skimpy tank tops. They can only afford one out of the pair that's needed to be decently covered.

The age gap between J and his friend is nearly four years. J is in Year 8 and his friend is in Year 12. They do have a strong common interest in an unusual hobby, so I'm not overly concerned about that side of it, just it makes it a hard friendship for dh and I to support/deal with (as I'm sure J's friend's parents are probably having similar conversations ).

****

X rang me last night. One of her friends took a mobile with her and she allowed X to borrow it to give her a chance to ring home. It sounds like she's having a blast but missing home at the same time.

When she left I gave her one of her Dad's business cards with I love you written on the back of it. She said thank you to me for giving it to her and that it's been really good to have.

That would be a difficult decision...there is such a big "maturity" change in those 4 years.

Kylie-I'm glad that your dd is having a great trip. How far away from home is she?

I think it's interesting that several people have mentioned school registration. In our area public schools you only register once and then you are in the system and receive a school assignment each year. The private schoolds do require a re-enrollment/continuing enrollment each year. This is filed in the previous school year.

For us, school registration is basically showing up at school and finding out your teacher/class schedule. We call it registration, but we don't really go through the entire registration process. We update information for student files and check out classrooms. The HS does a pre-registration during March where students sign up for next year's classes.

Garsy, still praying for that opening. Your school district sounds like some around here.

Tracy, hope you all have another good visit. It's never easy to be "on the outside looking in" but it sounds as if you are included in some ways, so that's a bonus.

Kylie, hope X has a great time and a safe trip home.

I know that my kids appreciate notes from home while they are away. The first time my kids went to a church camp week, I wrote them little notes with prayers at the end and put them in envelopes labeled for each night. It has become a tradition now, so I can't send them anywhere without them. In fact, they have evolved over the years into mini-devotions with Bible verses and prayers included in the note.

I am so tired today I had to drag myself out of bed. And S is fighting cramps today, which means a tough evening at band camp. At least today is a short day. The director doesn't have night practice on Wednesdays because so many band members are involved in Wednesday programs at their church.

That's basically what it is here. Turn in any changes to medical forms, pay fees, take care of lunch money accounts find out who your teachers are. That sort of thing.
At the middle and high school levels they also do school pictures at registration so they can use those for school id's. At the middle and high school levels the kids are also given the opportunity to make schedule changes and such too.

I'm working the elementary registration tomorrow. They have me scheduled from 10:30 to 12:45 and maybe longer if they need me to stay. I told them that I could. The jobs not hard. You just give the parents the forms for their children, have them look them over make corrections and return them to you. At that point you give them their fee statements and have them sign for their students handbook. Then you point them in the direction of the money collectors. Sometimes the teachers especially of 5th graders and kindergartners have special notes or letters that go home with the kids as well.

No news on the job yet. I might hear more on that tomorrow too. The powers that be, I'm certain, are simply pulling their collective hairs out over tomorrow and getting those class lists ready.

Blessings,

Garsy

I'm glad you were able to hear from X, Kylie. I hope you can meet J's friend so that you can figure out how to handle things better.

Debilyn, that's neat what you write for your kids!

Our registration is like Debilyn said. You may or may not find out the teacher here. They mostly just want money I think (fees). I paid 78 for fees and 10 lunches. Although I wouldn't have had to pay today. The HS assigns days for everyone to come in. They are doing it different this year. Instead of by class, it's A-D and L-P one day, and so on. But E is still gone so she'll have to go back in next week to make changes if needed. I will pick up her schedule probably tomorrow.

Hi Everybody! I am home now and tonight my husband's son and mom are going to be here for my daughters pom competition tomorrow. So my first overnight guests are going to be here. My house is clean, but I have so much laundry to do and I don't want to do it. I also had to babysit today so that make it harder. But things are done and I am taking a few minutes to myself. Now I just have to get off my butt and figure out what to make for dinner.

I'm an auntie again!!! For the 9th time, if you count my great nephews in the mix, and I do!

Sara Rose was born a little after noon August 6th, only a day after her due date! According to my other sister, who couldn't remember those important details of height and weight and all, was quick to inform me that we had another red-head in the family! To that, Ty, MY red-head responded, "Oh yeah! She's my new favorite cousin!" My mom was supposed to e-mail me photos tonight but hasn't gotten around to it yet. My mailbox remains empty of anything good. All I'm getting is freecycle want ads. GRRRRR!

Off to bed for me!

Blessings,

Garsy

Sorry Kara! It won't be long!

Sara makes niece #5 for me and the girl grandchildren, 7 strong now for my parents counting my 2 girls. The boys are slightly outnumbered now. I have 2 nephews and 2 great nephews and 2 sons, for a total of 6. And my youngest brother and his wife haven't even started having babies yet! I know they want at least a few! I don't think my baby sister is done yet either. I can see her having at least 1 or 2 more.

Hey I need to change my siggie! I am a former member of the moo club!

I'm having trouble sleeping. Don't know why. Started reading a new book and just couldn't stop and I think I passed that point where a person gets their second wind and is not tired anymore. I hate that - except for when I'm on a roll scrapbooking or something!

Blessings,

Garsy

Congrats on being an auntie again Garsy!

I forgot to share. I'm going to be a great-auntie for the fourth time early next year.

J and one of his friends were having pen wars this afternoon and somehow J's knee got kicked, so he's limping around. It sounds strange I know, but it's almost a relief to know he got hurt having fun with all the bullying he's had to deal with.

Question for everyone - at what age would you let your children fly alone if they had to switch planes mid-stream?

Kylie

I still don't let my dd do it and she's 15. However, my 19 year old ds was doing it when he was 12 or so. It depends on their maturity level I guess.

Well I don't think the powers that be even bothered to read those lovely forms I filled out last year where I noted at least 5 times on one page that Ethan would do best with a male teacher because he ended up with the ONLY female teacher on the 4th grade team. I talked to the principal tho and told her my concerns with that and I also left her a note in her mailbox. She said she would see what she could do.

NONE of my kids got the teachers I wanted them to get this year. I mean I really didn't care who Aryn got as all the 5th grade teachers are good teachers but I would have preferred another teacher, simply because I know her better. Zoe got the same teacher Ethan had for 2nd grade. She's okay but tends toward strictness and Zoe is a more laid back personality. BUT Zoe has her best friend in her class this year! Zoe is THRILLED! Zoe's gonna have to get herself organized that's for sure! The GOOD thing is that the class sizes for right now are very small, at least for Ethan and Zoe. Zoe has 18 kids and Ethan 20. Aryn is at 27 right now and I was told today that we can only register 2 more new students before they would be looking to hire an additional 5th grade teacher, which would reduce class size to 20 -22 kids. 27 kids - especially 5th graders is a lot of bodies in one classroom! Yikes! They are going to need a lot of volunteer help I think and I WILL be volunteering in the Art room as much as possible.

Speaking of art - I think I may have mentioned in the past that the Art teachers daughter is fighting her second bout with breast cancer. She is only in her early 20's. Things are getting really bad. She is in her last days baring a miracle. So if you wouldn't mind say a prayer for Courtney and her mom Sarah and Courtney's siblings whose names escape me right now. This is going to be a tough year again and Sarah is going to need all the love and support we can muster!

The neat thing is I think Aryn made a new friend! We seemed to have an influx of new families this year especially in the 5th grade. One of those new students came in while we were there and I was at the 5th grade table handing out all the info and forms and whatnot. So I introduced the New student, who happens to be named Zoe - a name I'll never forget- to Aryn and while I helped her mom figure out all the paperwork, Aryn took Zoe on a tour of our building and introduced her to her teacher! I was so thrilled to hear that the NEW Zoe is coming from one of our nearby inner city schools and when she walked into the building she turned to her mom and said, "This is the School of my dreams!" It's going to take a bit for her to catch up coming from the district she is coming from but I told Aryn that she needs to help her out as much as possible! So Aryn got her phone number AND we found out that they live pretty close to us and that she'll likely be riding the same bus.

I'm sitting here eating freshly picked cherry tomatoes! My neighbor has had a bumper crop this year because she made the mistake of buying more cherry tomato plants than she thought she had and she told me to come over and pick as many as I wanted! YUMMY!

well I suppose I should get my kiddos fed - chili mac! All I have to do is dish it up!

Blessings,

Garsy

Garsy - I just finished praying for Sarah and Courtney, what a difficult situation.

Our children start school Aug. 27th this year. I AM NOT READY! Supplies have been purchased for the most part, but I do not have any interest in them leaving everyday. (Not to mention the 2 and half hours a day I spend in the car transporting them.) Our youngest starts First grade this year, meaning I will not have any children at home with me during the day. I'm pretty sure that I will try to find a part-time job close to school this year - I haven't worked in nine years, this is slightly overwhelming... The blessing is that they go to a great school and I completely trust the Lord to do a mighty work in the coming year.

Both my son and daughter are being baptised Aug. 17th! We are so thrilled that they are seeking to be obedient at even their young age. (7 and 8, this was there idea, not mine.) Praise be to God!

Welcome Loving!
Thanks for the prayers for Courtney and Sarah. These two women are very very special to me.

I, too, am looking for part-time work. I'm really praying that a situation works out and I can get a position AT the school where my kids are. That would be ideal, but it would be a year to year thing with no guarantees that I would have a job the next year.

I suppose I could get on as a valet parking attendant at a nearby hospital or I know there is a company that's hiring armed and unarmed security folks both full and part time. The latter job pays VERY well!

Anyway, I have two little guys that spent the night in the tent in the backyard last night coming in and wanting breakfast. Gotta run!

Blessings,

Garsy

Hi Loving!

Garcy, what time did those little guys get up. Even I am still in bed. Today looks like it is going to be beautiful. My husbands son and his mom are here. They came on Wed to watch Kali participate in a competiton at our State fair. One of our teams won the competition, but not hers. But we knew that going in because they are a new team AND the youngest team. Their division was made up of 3 through 6 graders and her team is 1 and 2 graders. But they did awesome and our cable company is going to broadcast it so those who didn't make it to see her and live in the area with that service can watch her if they want. Way Cool!

Anyway, today is going to be busy so have a great day everyone!

YEA!!! I just got a phone call from the principal of Ethan and the girl's school! No I haven't been hired for the job --- YET, BUT they were able to move Ethan to a different classroom and with a MALE teacher!!!! Yippie! Ethan is so relieved and I'm very happy that I was listened too! Aryn is jealous tho! He got the teacher she wished she had last year! Honestly - there's not a bad teacher in 4th grade, but I'm REALLY glad he got the teacher he did.

No bills in the mail today. That's a good thing. We really need to sit down and figure out all this mess on my hubby's desk.

Just got an e-mail from Ethan's cub scout cub master asking if Brian would be interested in helping out the next couple of weeks with the Webelos. If he's not working I don't see why he couldn't and Ty would be willing to help out too.

Aryn made sugar cookies today!

Blessings,

Garsy

Garcy, you sound very happy for someone who had a sleepover with a bunch of boys. Did they say ANYTHING about the job? I am glad Ethan got moved to a different class. If the child isn't comfortable with their teacher, it makes a world of difference.

My husband's son and mom just left a few minutes ago. I am going to miss him but they want to go to a waterpark next week. I am not sure if that is a good idea because money is very tight and my calander is so full, I would love just a couple of days of quiet. Although, maybe that would be a good vacation. But DH wouldn't be coming.

My kids started out the day ok today. They played in the house, Jake had a doc appointment, and then they all went to the park for an hour. It was nice to have the house quiet. Then they came home and it was like they were fire and ice. But all is calm now and I am happy. I just can't believe school starts in three weeks. I do want to make the most of them, but at the same time, I still have to settle into this house.

Well it was only a couple boys. Ethan had a friend over and that was it. Ty has a friend over tonight and Zoe is off at a friend's house. I figure they have a week and a half til school starts - might as well have a few last sleepovers.

AS to the job - I KNOW they haven't hired yet. Their primary concern right now is to get a 4th, 4th grade teacher hired! Yep our former science teacher that was to take on that position has decided to take early retirement only a few weeks ago. Personally I think he was simply tired of all the politics and I know he loved teaching science and wanted to do more traveling. Anyway- he is going to be GREATLY missed. I'm wondering what this means for our science fair. But they haven't to my knowledge hired for the aide position yet. They hadn't as of Thursday anyway.

I'm just happy that Ethan is going to have a male teacher this year! I'm pleased that the principal bothered to take my concerns seriously! She didn't have to but she did! And Ethan is so excited!

Watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics. It's just so neat to see all the different countries and trying to figure out where some of these island nations are! It's also really neat to see the athletes all together despite all the politic messes in our world!

Blessings,

Garsy

It is so nice when they listen Garsy!

I'm hopeful that N being with a new (to our school) teacher means our principal listened! She does have teaching experience. I didn't feel that the personality of any of the teachers I knew fit with him.

E is back from camp. That means school will be starting soon.

I understand about the quiet Tracy. It's nice. I have mixed feelings about school starting.

Garcy, it makes such a difference for a boy. My son started to turn around when he got a guy for a teacher, and seems to do better in his classes where guys teach with the exception of his math class. He and that teacher clicked for some reason and he did very well.
