I'm back in commission after my move to Kansas.

It's hot....107 today....and finances are going to be a bit whacko for awhile as I don't get paid until the 25th of September. Our AC isn't currently working.

Other than that...things are going fairly well.

Jennifer, plain knitting is pretty easy. It's best though if at the very beginning, you've got somebody sitting with you, showing you how to. I'm left handed. My mother was right handed. When I finally got somebody left handed to show me, it was a lot easier. I know how to knit and purl. Any of the other stuff, I leave alone.

But the neat thing is, most of the other stitches are just knit and purls in a certain order. Maybe knit 5 times in one stitch and then knit together until you get a ball, etc. I found a Vogue knitting book in a used bookstore. It's my other Bible. I found a similar book on sale her a couple of weeks ago. I was back at Spinneys again last night but forgot about it. Next time I'm there I might double check the price if it's still there. It doesn't hurt to have 2 in case one is more clear on a technique than the other one. Plus they both have some patterns in them.

The kids are at camp and I'm enjoying the quiet. After I CUOP I'll probably listen to Issues, Etc. I love that program. I'm learning so much and it's so interesting. I like to cross stitch while I listen. If I don't listen before the kids come home, I go to my room to listen and stitch while they play or watch a movie.

They have taekwondo tonight so I'll walk while they're busy. Gotta love iPods!

Nicole- Good luck on the restaurant. Do you have overseas delivery?

I apparently knit in the back side of the stitch, so my knitting has a funny twist to it. I say it adds character.

I had a bit of an interesting day at work today, found out I could fix a problem which I'd spent four hours being told, from several different avenues - one in particular, could not be fixed, after I had given someone some very bad news about their situation and they'd left the office.

Tomorrow I have to try and contact the person, who right now I'm the last person they want to hear from, to inform them that there is a way out from the situation they've found themselves in.

And I know that even giving them the good news I will still be the 'bad guy' in their eyes because the fix came from another area of the office, the part of the office which gave me the initial misinformation which I had passed onto the client. So the person who gave me the initial wrong information is going to come out of it looking like heroes.

Deep breath and pray that God blesses the lot of them with each others' company.

Kylie

HA! Now there's an idea!!

Daughter -- Glad to hear you made it home safely. I hope the unpacking goes well. I've gotten most of the main living floor done. The bedrooms are still a disaster. And poor Zach is sleeping on his mattress in the hallway because we still have the shower and toilets in his room.

Well, I had a dental appt. set up for dd tomorrow. DD has medical and a PPO. The dentist's office just checked with medical and medical says that she has an HMO, not a PPO. Her card says PPO. So now they won't see her until I get the whole thing straightened up with medical. That could take forever!

Urgh! How frustrating! Hope it all works out soon. It's nice to get all the appointments out of the way in summertime.

What is a PPO?

Preferred Provider Organization
HMO- Health Maintenance Organization.

With a PPO you can select the drs/hospitals you want to go to

With an HMO the ins gives you a list of drs/hosp you can go to.

PPO will have a deductible and out of pocket expense.
HMO will have a flat copay for services (usually with no ded or out of pocket).

Almost any service with an HMO needs to be authroized by the ins, with a PPO many services do not need auth's. HMO's also require referrals if you need to see a specialist (this would have to come from your GP).

(not sure if you wanted to know all that but I threw it out anyway)

Thanks for the explanation Nicole! I had heard of HMO before but didn't know exactly what it entailed either (I knew you were told who to go to though.)

I had a friend who was left handed and was taught to knit by her right handed mother. Her mother put a mirror in front of her when she knit and my friend watched in the mirror. She knits all the time so it must work.

What a clever Mum!

My day went well, could not make contact with the person concerned so didn't have to deal with the issue. And now, because of timeframe, the person concerned has clicked over to being the responsibility of another part of the office. They're aware of the situation and more than capable of dealing with it when/if the person comes in.

OOPS! Did I really pray that?!?!?!

X rang me last night. One of her friends took a mobile on the excursion and allowed X to borrow it.

Hi, ladies!

Kylie, you know there are some patterns that call for you to knit in the back of the stitch. Just find one with a LOT of them.

I'm taking Emile to see Dark Knight. I was going to just surprise him but then his friend was with him at camp and I decided to invite him too. That kind of required letting the cat out of the bag. But they're best buds so I felt bad at the idea of not inviting him. He's a nice kid, if a bit hyper. But very polite and nice to have around.

I talked with DH and we decided to take the twins out of taekwondo. They're not really enjoying it so we'll give them a month off and then start them back in Kuwait. There are some new kids there now about their age so that will make it more fun. That cuts down on my driving/gas. Yeah! We'll also have more time to visit people with Aunt. We also need to spend some time with Jiddo.

Well, I'm off to get ready. Have a nice day, ladies.

Kylie, I'm glad you got to hear from X. How is her trip going?

Wow, smart cookie learning to knit from watching a mirror. I couldn't have done it that way.

We loved the movie last night. It was so good. It was over 2 1/2 hours but who cares? When a movie is that good you don't notice it. Or at least, I didn't.

I need to find a chance to take everyone up to Harisa to see Our Lady of Lebanon. E loves to go. Actually he loves the teleferique but everytime I ride I like it less and less. Only so much hanging over the highway from way too high that I can stand. I'll drive up there if we go. I also want to take us to the Jeita Grotto. The kids always enjoy that. I just have to stop being so lazy. Hard to do when you have a quiet house all day. lol

Have a nice day, ladies.

X is doing well, thoroughly enjoying herself.

I had a really slow day at work today, much better than the other day, but I really do hate it when it's THAT slow. I think I saw four appts all day.
