I think their descendent's political representatives just caved to political correctness and further enabled this dysfunctional addiction to victimhood and white guilt continue.

Are you saying we were fools to apologize to Japanese Americans locked in concentration camps during WW2 and all those other groups the country has admitted to treating with less than American values?

Yeah, that about covers it. I don't see a lot of those other groups you mentioned wallowing in their victimhood. I see them thriving in the freest, most inclusive country on Earth.

The Romans apologized when their ancestors sided with Hitler.

We're better than the Romans and I don't care who does what or where or when or why. Apologizing is the right thing to do.

Did that statement include or exclude the natives?

I'm half Italian. Will that do?
If so, we're sooooo sorry... let the healing begin.
just don't try to get reparations from the Italians - capiche? Ba-da-bing!

The answer to blacks getting over all this is in Matthew 6:14,15.

Thanks

That's true and I agree with it. I also agree to the House apology to.

Natives included - as soon as THEY stop wallowing in victimhood.

I read threads like this and think

Lord if these are your people ,

we are in trouble. For real.

Babylon is given over to her servants.

Geez, Jimbo... gettin' personal here? Thought we dealt with that irrational dig in the other thread.

It seems that over the years there have been many apologies.

I'd suggest that the problem is the lenses you're reading through.

Tracy, I would ask you to please read the Scriptures I posted, pay special attention to the second verse.

Thanks

Tracy, I am not sure why you think that. God doesn't call us to issue official apologies - God does call upon us to seek forgiveness for wrongs done by one party against another, and to repent for past misdeeds. But such things require that the wrongdoer is asking for the forgiveness of those he wronged, and that he is then repenting; as neither still exists, I am not sure what good it does to apologize on their behalf. What we do need to consider asking forgiveness for and repenting of is the things that are going on now; but I don't think Congress will be leading us in that effort.

RC,

I understand somewhat about forgiveness.

I also understand that these are suppose to be Christians in here that are joking and taking this lightly.

Do people on here even have a clue as to what is about to happen?

This country will not be able to quell the riots this time.

And what would be the cause of those riots?

I'm confused.

Do you mean people are going to riot over the apology? And if so, who will be rioting?

Also, could you let me know when so I can be safely in the mountains at the time?

Thanks.

You're enabling, Rog.
Actually, I might take that post back. The natives in my state are getting FAT off sweetheart gaming deals with the gov. The problems of gambling aside, at least they are parlaying their victimhood into an enterprise that creates jobs.

Just so as it is understood Tracy, my friend, I am not taking slavery lightly, it is the "act of congress" that I am taking lightly. Whilst I firmly agree that slavery was bad and evils were committed, I just don't think yesterday was a good day for congress to bring it up, what with the oil/energy/economy/housing/election issues... If we have waited the 150+ years to apologize, I think it could have gone 6 more months until after the first of the year.

Then, also, let me ask this question of all of the african-american posters here... Do you feel better today now that congress has acted to apologize to you?

So now we are just that clueless,

Don't understand the rage that simmers just below the surface.

A powder keg waiting to happen. One match.
