I just had an idea that may have been circulated, and proably has, but wouldnt it be neat if 2 or 3 groups traveled together with one band. This would cut expenses for bands in half, and you'd get 2 groups with live bands. Plus it would reduce the cost of equipment, if you only had to have one set of everything...Just a thought.

I sure do hope it is true. I miss seeing the Band of Gold. I can't wait to find out who the new members will be!

That's an interesting idea. It would only work well if groups' big dates could be scheduled to be on non-conflicting days.

yeah, exactly. It would be like a 2 group tour, where they played the same venues each night.

I would love to see bands back in southern gospel music, but they are not enough fans in southern gospel music to supports groups with bands. I think would almost be enough reason for more groups to have bands. Lets face it... the majority of people that attend SG concerts are the older generation. They are not going to be around for ever. So there has to be a draw to bring a younger generation into the "loop" so to speak. So really whatever it takes to get people excited about going to SG concerts is what's going to have to happen or else Southern Gospel Music will be a thing of the past in twenty years. Bands are great but regardless of band or no band if God want SG here in twenty years it will be here. If there is no substance Lyrically speaking in a groups song selection then the greatest band in the world won't help them. And the one post about folks willing to pay big bucks for country music and bragg about it but not willing to pay for SG is absolutly correct! Alot of people think it is a sin when a group charges to sing but they don't care to pay for hearing sinful music.

Unfortunately Christians are just cheap. I've long wanted to work with a live band for my own concerts, but 20 years later and I'm still a track artist. When a church hands you the actual love offering and 90% of the bill sin the package are 1$ bills, it gives you an idea of how much they care about it. Yet I know of many church folks who dropped $50 plus to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra on their Christmas tours, or upwards of $100 or more per ticket to see the Journey/Heart/Cheap Trick show which recently played in my town. But when it comes to our brothers in Christ, for some reason we have a hard time supporting them as enthusiastically. Sorry, rant over (and good for Gold City on re-hiring a band, I hope it works out super well)
