They are if they are like the $5o million dollar "bridge to nowhere" that Alaskan senator Ted Stevens had built. It is a bridge that connects a remote island with a handfull of people to the Alaskan mainland.

Here is NC, the speaker of the house had just the portion of the road that ran past his restuarant widened so patrons could have an easier time entering the place.

Hey pooh- I got the joke, just didn't think it was funny. But, you must also note that I have not said that maintaining our infrastructure is a bad thing. Cutting pork to pet projects like libraries and statutes dedicated to those power hungry self righteous indignant senators and congressmen/women would be a good place to start tho! And lastly, at the last note of an election, congress and senate were controlled by the liberals and Bush is more or less a lame duck at this point. What have the liberals done lately to make everything better? Hey, you ever heard of the BIG DIG.

Read up on it. I laugh everytime I hear politicians discussion infrastructure.

And here

O.K.!
I should've said - "Bridges & Roads are too important to be pork".
Thoughtless oversight should be punished (High Crimes and Misdemeanors)?

Current makeup of Congress -

House of Representatives - 435 members, Democratic Party 236, Republican Party 199
Senate - 100 members, Democratic Party 49, Republican Party 49, Independent 2

The reasons Democrats don't completely control Congress (yet)

#1 The Rules of the House of Representitives -

> Upon approval of two-thirds of the elected members by a roll call vote a bill will be accepted by the body and assigned by the Speaker to the appropriate committee.

> No bill will be accepted for consideration except by consent of two-thirds of the house membership after twelve o'clock noon of the third legislative day of the session.

> No bill shall be considered for introduction after six o'clock p.m. (6:00 p.m.) the fifth legislative day of the session except by consent of two-thirds of the membership.

#2 The Constitution requires a two-thirds vote of both the House and Senate to override a veto.

#3 Need at least 60 Democratic Senators - If the Democrats had 60 votes, they'd have a chance of enacting Obama proposals; The power of the filibuster, unique to the Senate, allows the minority to block anything they don't like as long as they have 41 or more votes.

a (D) or a (R) next to ones name does not a conservative or liberal make. There are more liberal's in the senate than those with an (D) next to their name. Those are known as "RINO"s" IE: Republican In Name Only.

BTW I noted in your profile the following:

Oh! Yeah! One more thing:

Thank God the founding fathers had to foresightedness to create a system such as the one we have now. The above quote being the only thing that will save this country from utter ruin.

Wrong. We need more of them, France gets most of its energy from nukes. You must have watched "The China Syndrome" one too many times.

France gets most of its energy from Nukes? Bombs?

You mean Nuclear Energy.

If it werent for the Democratic takeover in 2006 we would surely be in ruins by now. The policies the Repugs left will affect this country for years to come.

No one spent like them. NOONE. Trillions in debt, wasted, mismanaged.

And we don't care as long as it doesnt feed any poor.

And just what legislation has the dems passed to prevent total ruins? Be prepared for the Candy Man to send it to levels that rival that of the Peanut Farmer days. should Barry be elected/

So, they're "in charge" but "Thank God they can't act"?!
Up til now, I'd only heard that about ICBM silo officers.
MAD Conservative government, no doubt.

Thanx for reminding me about my profile, I keep forgetting to add more stuff. A person who has strong opinions on an internet Forum shouldn't hide behind a blank profile, don't you agree?

Ahh! Yes, they can't act, good call. Nancy Pelosi, the SanFran Nan is a gift to conservatives the world over. But! They didn't earn a 14 percent approval rating because of their stellar abilities in law making. Perhaps they shoudl introduce something meaningful, IDK, maybe something that assist to resolve the current so-called "energy crisis" (a media crisis no doubt pinning this on the office of the Presidency and we both know that Bush can't effect oil and gas prices to such an extent)

As far as strong opinions are concerned, you're not pushing me over either so I look forward to many a long debates with more of the mindless liberal drivel and propoganda that you may throw my way.

Good day to you sir.
