No, please don't bike with a dog. My uncle did that a couple years ago and the dog went the wrong way and yanked him over the handlebars and he broke his collarbone, quite badly, had to have specially-made pins to put him back together! (um, my uncle, not the dog...)

Bike trails, and we live on the very outskirts of town, and so we have some great country roads to ride on as well.

I used to rollerblade with the dog previous to the smart one. I also tried it with my moms Collie who thought it was a herding exercise and nipped me a few times.

I do OK on rollerblades except on the downhill sides of steep hills. Everywhere close to where I live where I could skate (or blade) is in the city with kind of steep hills and a fair amount of traffic.

When I was at my last assignment at my old job I would sometimes have to walk 6 or more miles a day a good portion of that while slinging about 25 pounds of tools and parts. That was great exercise.

ORIGINAL: trainfan I walk for exercise. A knee injury and work schedule keep me from doing much else. Cycling is one of the absolute best exercises you can do to recover from a knee injury. It is often the recommended exercise for recovery after knee surgery. And it is a lot of fun too! So true. Prior to getting running injuries, I would never ride a bike. But when I got injured, I had no choice but to use the bike for physical theraphy. ANd you know what, I'm hooked. I even bought a bike shorts, gloves, even tire pump. I look legit now, lol. And thanks Benelchi for all your advice! I'm still a runner at heart, but I'm cycling more and more lately and enjoying it immensely.

I run every day. I do a cycle which includes push ups and sit ups. I play tennis at least once a week (more often thrice). Other than that, I just try to stay active in general.

Ouch, Nadine! Changing an air filter? I'm picturing that in my head. You must've taken a pretty big tumble. It seems to take a long time for the tailbone to heal too.
