Do you have a regular exercise regimen? What do you prefer to do for exercise? Is exercise a way of life or necessary evil? How important is it that any prospective mate share your level of fitness?

I walk regularly. It helps me manage chronic pain, and it's good for my . It's cheap too. All I need is a good pair of walking shoes. And I always bring along praise and worship music. It's a good time for prayer and reflection.

Do you have a regular exercise regimen? I try. I go all out and then stop and start again

What do you prefer to do for exercise? See above. Spin class, Yoga, Running and Walking. Sometimes swimming

Is exercise a way of life or necessary evil? I don't lose weight if I don't or I gain. It's a necessary evil for health.

How important is it that any prospective mate share your level of fitness? Somewhat. We don't have to do triathlons together but we should both try to keep in shape.

I think swimming and walking are the best all around exercises. Barring injuries, they are generally things you can do for life, especially swimming.

Do you have a regular exercise regimen?

Well, I am a fitness instructor (and personal trainer NSCA-CPT) and teach 12 hour long spinning classes, 3 hour long weights classes (kind of an overall "body sculpting" with weights and aerobics thrown in) ... and three abs and core classes (a quick 20 minute class) every week. (So anywhere from 1 to 4 hours everyday!!! ) ...

What do you prefer to do for exercise?

I really like the spinning classes ... although some days I long for a break. I also get in the pool every once in a while.

Is exercise a way of life or necessary evil?

It has always been a way of life for me ... I trained for the Olympics at one time and have always been very fit ...

How important is it that any prospective mate share your level of fitness?

I want him to be healthy, and exercise is essential for keeping your body healthy. I am not sure how realistic it is to expect the same level as my own ... I can still run a sub 5 minute mile in my older years. ... on a good day that is ...

Do you have a regular exercise regimen? Yup. I don't let more than a couple of days without doing any physical activity at all

What do you prefer to do for exercise?
I'm a runner and have been for about 20 years. Now, I'm getting more into cycling to save my knees and only run between 15-25 miles a week. I also do Pilates and yoga about 3x a week each

Is exercise a way of life or necessary evil?
It's a way of life for me....like brushing my teeth. At times when I'm not doing my normal regime, I'm usually outdoors hiking, skiing, biking, climbing (not regularly) or playing ball.

How important is it that any prospective mate share your level of fitness? It's important for me that my prospective mate share my love of the outdoors and is fit enough to be able to join me regularly in some of my activities. I don't need him to be a runner, but if he can't stand hiking or climbing, we probably won't be a good match. We'll end up spending our weekends separately which is not good.

Hi psalms! 5 minute mile? Impressive.

Prairie, I Pilates. After my injury, it was what the Physical Therapists used for my rehab. I have a plan to become a certified Pilates trainer. Hopefully that plan will not be thwarted.

I sort of cheat in that I have a naturally high hemoglobin which can carry more O2 to the muscles ... some days it's not nearly as impressive because I am sore from the day before!!!

Y'all have a wonderful evening/week .... my internet is in and out (I piggyback on a neighbor's wireless for free ... and you get what you pay for!!!)

Blessings

Wow, that is impressive. There's not very many women who can do that. Even at my top speed, I could do sub 7 min/mile but I can't do it for more that a mile; maybe 2 tops.

Buglady, Go for your Pilates certification! I learned to love Pilates during the time I was injured last year. I hated Pilates before, but after consistently doing the one DVd that I have, and I saw the results, I'm completely sold on Pilates. It's very good for core work out and flexibility.

I've always worked out on Pilates equipment. Even on days when I was in a lot of pain, I could still work out because the equipment completely supports your spine. I'm sold out on it too!

I do pilates and have for about 3 years. I also swim, but just in the summer.
I enjoy walking, riding and hiking but I do those for pleasure, not as an exercise regimen.(sp)

My favorite exercise has always been walking outdoors -- treadmills just don't do it for me. But in the heat of summer, I prefer my elliptical machine. I get a good aerobic workout on that. Another favorite is swimming, but I was just released for swimming a week or two ago and now it's too bright for me to go out (I have very fair skin and will burn in about 2 seconds of being in the sun by the pool, even with good sunblock). Also, there are thunderstorms every evening about the time I could do a few laps in the pool, so swimming is just gonna have to wait. Lastly, I've always wanted to run and now I feel I finally can!! So... maybe this fall, I'll be able to get back into shape!

You know it's too hot when you have to plan exercise routines in the fall and winter.

I generally walk although it's not too safe to do it around my neighbourhood; too many dogs.

Plus I'm allergic to mosquito bites so I have to wait until it cools down to go out at night. By then it gets dark around 3 in the afternoon so it's too dark to go walking.

I think I just need to buy a treadmill.

I'm primarily a walker and do about 7-8 miles in an average day. Though I like to play any sports if I can as well. Exercise is so much more fun if I'm winning something in the process!

walking! I love to walk.

and besides, its free, its good for you and helps with the chronic pain (most of the time) and you can a lot of prayer time in also.

and you can do it all year long.

You know, making thread on the spinning wheel, ha ha. Just kidding. In the context of exercise, it normally involves cycling on an exercise bike. Hopefully, Karen won't mind me answering the question.

I work out at a gym, although due to having an out of town guest, I've taken some time off, but plan to be back on track when she goes home.

I was also working with a trainer for a while, but took a break from that, due to finances, and I miss it terribly. He really held me accountable with food and exercise journals, etc. I would love to train again.

It is important to me that my spouse cares about exercise. I really hope to stay a gym member (it doesn't necessarily have to be THIS gym), for the rest of my life. If exercise isn't important to him, than he won't understand it being important to me. However, right now, even more important than him (whomever "him" will be ), being into exercise, is that I, MYSELF finsish getting, (and then staying) in good physical shape. I really want to be in good shape for my man. That's just something I want to do for him.

Walking is my preference, but because of the hours I work, it's too hot to walk in the evenings until after 9:30 or 10, and that's my bed time, and I'd have to get up at 4:30 am to walk in the morning, which realistically, ain't gonna happen.

So, in the summer I stick to the dance strengthening exercises I did in ballet class, similar to pilates, and resume walking and those when it cools down a bit.

No regular 'regimen.' Actually, I don't want one. 'Regimen' is just too close to 'regime' LOL.

I like to ride my bike and do fun stuff. Lately I have been making it a goal to try different kinds of physical activity. For instance, I took the adult karate class at the dojo my kids go to (Brandon is in that class as well as the kids' jujitsu class). I did well and was very proud of myself.

For years 'exercise' was part of 'dieting' and now that I have moved to a non-dieting mentality, it has taken some time to disconnect physical activity from trying to be thin. For a while I did none, and simply had to let myself go through that until I desired activity for more appropriate reasons (enjoyment, feeling good, etc). So it's a pretty slow path but I have made progress.

Importance in a prospective mate? Well, I like to camp and hike, play frisbee, climb to the top of Multnomah Falls, kayak, bike the trails by the river, enjoy life...a mate would need to enjoy those things with me, for the most part. So a similar level of activity would be good.

It is at my house! Interestingly, the kid with the spinning wheel is also the family member who does the most bicycling. The other day he wanted to bike to the family BBQ instead of riding with us, 'cause he wanted to go to the youth activity after dinner. We got to my dad's house and I was like, where is Brandon? He had biked to the wrong grandpa's house! LOL All the way across town, but I was astonished at how quickly he biked back from there to the correct grandpa's house, and it was uphill, as well.

But then, he's the same kid who did the gap2gap relay 'iron man style'--ie, no team, he did every event himself. At the age of 12.

It is truly amazing what a 12 year old is capable of doing. My son at 12 was beating all of the men to the top of a 2 mile long very steep hill on our weekly group ride.

I walk for exercise. A knee injury and work schedule keep me from doing much else.

Cycling is one of the absolute best exercises you can do to recover from a knee injury. It is often the recommended exercise for recovery after knee surgery.

And it is a lot of fun too!
