What exactly are these "die off" symptoms that you're experiencing?

The die off symptoms are a result of the toxins from the dead Candida yeast entering your bloodstream through your bowel. This puts your liver under a bit of strain especially if you already have a toxic overload from candidiasis.

The symptoms that are associated with Candida die off are...

Fatigue
Brain fog
Nausea
Gas
Bloating
Diarrhea
Constipation
Low grade fever
Headache
Sore throat
Body itch
Muscle and / or joint soreness or pain
Flu type symptoms

Mine is mostly the gastro-intestinal stuff, fatigue and muscle/joint soreness. It comes and goes throughout the day, according to when I take yeast-killing herbs (garlic, enzymes, probiotics). Usually an hour or two after I've taken them and they've had time to 'do their work.' The symptoms usually last for a couple of hours.

Are you chewing the brown rice? It's just that it can't be digested unless it's properly chewed up.

Also it might help to be drinking some warm or hot water every 45 minutes throughout the day.

How much rest are you getting?

The die off symptoms will lessen eventually, it's just your body's way of getting rid of the candida. It really is miserable, but don't take anything to suppress it or you'll just prolong the process. And grains (even whole grains) promote the yeast growth so maybe completely eliminate those?

I'm not really into taking many supplements (we should be able to get all we need from our diet) but you may want to try taking a good quality acidophilus supplement. I always take them when I'm on antibiotics (but not at the same time) to counter the side effects of the meds ~ which seem to include many of the symptoms associated with Candida die off. Normally, it seems the yogurt I make is sufficient to provide what I need.

I think you're right about the grains...I took your advice and didn't eat any yesterday, and the die-off symptoms weren't nearly as severe.

Thanks for the advice. As for how much rest I'm getting, I'm sure not enough. I'm trying though.

I just read a study by an Italian doctor that suggests candida overgrowth is the root cause of all cancer. He had compelling evidence to support his theory.

Cancer or not, it really does seriously affect your total health.

I can believe it. With all of the antibiotics doctors prescribe (as well as in our food) and the fact that most folks don't know about the yeast overgrowth problem. I know it's affected me! I'm starting on week three of my 'diet' and I still have yeast die-off. Looking back, I think I've probably dealt with yeast overgrowth for at least a year, probably longer.

Any suggestions for flushing the toxins released by the yeast die-off? I may be doing all the right things already, but any relief sounds good. (it comes and goes throughout the day, usually an hour or so after I've had something that kills it off)

The best thing for flushing toxins is drinking water and you're already doing that. You may look at the health food store for some detox tea. And detox baths may help.

1/2 c. epsom salt
1/2 c. baking soda
1/2 c. sea salt
Combine those and put two or three generous handfuls in a very hot bath. Add 1/2 c. peroxide to bath water. Soak until water begins to cool, then wrap in a toasty robe and veg for a while. (to help you sweat as much as you can.)

A couple of other ways to stimulate your lymphatic system and help detox are dry body brushing and jumping on a trampoline.

Someone suggested I take activated charcoal to help get rid of the toxins...what is your take on this?

I know hospitals use it to treat patients who have overdosed (I've heard). And you can also use it to help with nausea. I don't think it would hurt to try it. Let me know how it goes.

Oh, I thought of you last night, while we were eating spaghetti squash, Dozermom67. It was so good! Have you considered it as one of your pasta replacements?

Yes, I LOVE spaghetti squash! I freeze leftovers and warm them up. Yum!

Actually, I decided to forgo the activated charcoal...I've felt a slight lessening of the die-off symptoms yesterday and today. Thank you, God! It's still uncomfortable, but not nearly as bad as it has been. Maybe we're seeing the light at the end of this tunnel. I will continue to 'yeast-away' diet, then gradually add back in a few things (like some dairy, some grains, etc.). I am nearly done with my third week.

I've started the 'dry brushing,' but don't feel anything as yet (other than silly - lol). But, I'll keep it up for a few days and see if it makes any difference. Also jumped on our exercise trampoline...not sure if that's made any difference yet, but sure got my blood to pumpin'! (which will make a difference somewhere!) I think the hardest thing to deal with through all this has been the fatigue and flu-like symptoms that come with the die-off.

I want to share what I feel is a miracle with you all...with the yeast overgrowth the yeast actually makes you crave sugary/starchy foods because that's what it feeds on. Well, when I first went on this "diet," I knew it was going to be tough and prayed that God would help me. I knew I had to "just do it," because it was "do or die," the yeast overgrowth was so bad. Well, from day one I have not had cravings for those sugary/starchy foods! The other night we went to a moms' night out at a buffet where they had a huge 'table' of rich desserts. Even with others sitting right next to me eating this stuff, I never had one craving! The only thing that I ate that might have had a little sugar in it was the Italian salad dressing on my salad! I had a bit of fruit for dessert (no canned as it has corn syrup in it, which I can't have). God is good - He is giving me strength to get through this thing. Just wanted to share...

So glad you are doing better, Mendy!

Can someone say what "dry brushing" is? I thought that was a painting technique!

Thank you!

According to this article dry brushing....

"Brushing the skin helps unplug the pores, increase its ability to absorb nutrients, increase circulation to the skin cells resulting in a better metabolic cellular exchange and polish it as well. Healthy skin needs to ‘breathe’. Rid it regularly of dry skin cells and the body will react by producing new skin cells more rapidly. Your skin will immediately feel silkier and on the long term will look healthier, loosing that dry, pasty appearance.

Fat deposits are better distributed, the nervous system is rejuvenated, nerve endings are stimulated and dry brushing contributes to improved muscle tone."

Thank you! I had no idea that this was something people did. I do it when I take my shower, while in the shower, so I guess that is wet-brushing. I just did it because I thought I should, but I am not meticulous as the reading describes. Hm-m-m. (think think think . . . .)

It also greatly helps in detoxifying the body. HERE is an article that talks about that part. There is a specific pattern used to stimulate the lymphatic system.

Just curious: why dry? Why not in the shower, with the water coursing over the body while it is done?

Not really sure. I know they recommend you do the brushing pattern right before showering. Maybe it has to do with the texture of the brush on the skin. Later I'll try to track down some info or maybe find someone to ask.

Upon investigation I read this "Do NOT wet your skin, since it will NOT have the SAME Effect, because this stretches your skin" on this site. Here it says, "Always dry brush your dry and naked body before you shower or bathe because you will want to wash off the impurities from the skin as a result from the brushing action. "

I had never heard of dry brushing before last week, and it sounds kinda weird, BUT I must say, after several days of doing this before I shower it IS rather invigorating. It makes my skin kind of tingly. I guess we tend to forget that our skin is our largest organ and that it needs to 'breathe.'
