RE: My favorite false teacher/prophet/etc. is: Definately Jesse Duplantis. He has to be the coolest, nicest, funniest, heretic in the WoF group. He seems like he would be a great guy to hang out with. Too bad he's leading people to hell with his warped theology

At this point, my mind goes back to Oct. 22, 1978, when Pope John Paul II began his ministry here in Saint Peter's Square. His words on that occasion constantly echo in my ears: "Do not be afraid! Open wide the doors for Christ!" The Pope was addressing the mighty, the powerful of this world, who feared that Christ might take away something of their power if they were to let him in, if they were to allow the faith to be free. Yes, he would certainly have taken something away from them: the dominion of corruption, the manipulation of law and the freedom to do as they pleased. But he would not have taken away anything that pertains to human freedom or dignity, or to the building of a just society. The Pope was also speaking to everyone, especially the young. Are we not perhaps all afraid in some way? If we let Christ enter fully into our lives, if we open ourselves totally to him, are we not afraid that He might take something away from us? Are we not perhaps afraid to give up something significant, something unique, something that makes life so beautiful? Do we not then risk ending up diminished and deprived of our freedom? And once again the Pope said: No! If we let Christ into our lives, we lose nothing, nothing, absolutely nothing of what makes life free, beautiful and great. No! Only in this friendship are the doors of life opened wide. Only in this friendship is the great potential of human existence truly revealed. Only in this friendship do we experience beauty and liberation. And so, today, with great strength and great conviction, on the basis of long personal experience of life, I say to you, dear young people: Do not be afraid of Christ! He takes nothing away, and he gives you everything. When we give ourselves to him, we receive a hundredfold in return. Yes, open, open wide the doors to Christ – and you will find true life. Amen. I'm still not impressed. What his-fancy-hat-and-robe seems to miss is that Jesus changes those He redeems. He doesn't just preserve some basic human ideals and coerce us to give up harmful things. He transforms us, gives us new life, brings us from the dead, causes us to be born again - old things are passed away, behold ALL things become new - and makes us joint-heirs with Christ and send the Holy Spirit to indwell us. When people look to other means to achieve salvation, no wonder they struggle and worry about losing something they don't understand and never had.

When people look to other means to achieve salvation, no wonder they struggle and worry about losing something they don't understand and never had. Paul Washer said in a sermon recently (if i can quote him remembering rightly): "People like to use the verse in Revelation where it says Jesus knocks on the door of your heart, and if you let Him in, he will come in and sup with you... etc. If that's true, if He opens your heart, its not just to come in. When He comes in, He wants it ALL. He owns it ALL. He will be your Lord and Master of EVERYTHING. Jesus wont take just some of you - He wants it ALL.. He owns it all."

Jesus wasn't talking to the lost. He was talking to and about standing outside a church, a church of believers. Something to think about...

Major... perhaps, considering the billions they claim. But so do Anglicans, Methodists, Nazarenes, Free Will Baptists, Pentecostals, Assemblies of God, etc. Where salvation has to be kept by doing and/or maintaining something or else salvation can be lost or forfeited, then it is a doctrine of works, no matter how one tries to dress it up. They like to call it something else, but grace is no longer the key to remaining joint-heirs with Christ, so that leaves works.

Something to think about... yes that is true,, some Believers do not wish to give their all in surrendering all to Christ. thank you for the clarification, I got the gist of what Paul Washer was saying about being totally surrendered to God, and you are right, it is to Beleivers that verse. nevertheless, it still spoke powerfully to me about how surrendered I need to be. oh and one more thing - what the other person said about protestants thinking OSAS gives the person liberty to sin. As the Apostle Paul said in my KJV Bible - "Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound? GOD FORBID!!!!!" anyone who thinks that salvation gives us a license to use our liberty for sin, is 100% WRONG WRONG WRONG. (emphasis mine)

ORIGINAL: phosadaud Remember the charges made against some of the churches in Revelation? You have forsaken your first love? That's what we're talking about. Okie dokie. Which of 'em did He cast aside and, then, cast into the lake of fire? The perfect example just might be the Prodigal Son, who having gone off and later returned, never ceased being a son. Ever. He failed at virtually every level, attitude, words, and deed. Yet, sonship was not lost and, when he returned, it did not have to be reinstated - because it was not lost, despite his actions. It was grace that kept him and it was grace that received him back when he came to himself.

We are not saved by works. but works come as a fruit of our sanctification which is the process that takes place AFTER we are regenerated/saved,,, in which we are being conformed to the image of God's dear Son,, until we get our glorified body in heaven. we produce good works, which is really Jesus Christ's righteousness being shown in us (after all we have no good thing in us). Good works will come because the Holy Spirit lives in us and continues to make us holy. As christians, we are to yield ourselves more and more to Jesus Christ, not to our sinful flesh. "My little children I write to you that ye sin not, but if ye sin, ye have an advocate with the Father - Jesus Christ the Righteous!" Sanctification and Salvation are TWO separate occassions, but both necessary in the true Christian's life (a non-true Christian would be a "professing" Christian and just a wannabee, who talks the talk but does not walk the walk.

Well, I don't completely agree with my friend Ima's post , but who cares? I can't wait to sit in my L-rd's class and hear all the things I am presently so sure about that are so wrong. But Ima and her kitty are both nice people, so's Jimbo, so's Earthless, and, I am sure, so's Drfuss. But our opinions mean nothing.
