Is sin something that people deal with most every day?

Well, yes and no.
On the one hand, we, as Christians, are no longer slaves to sin. We have a choice to not sin. Before becoming a Christian, it was our nature to sin. Now, it is not.
However, we do sometimes do things against our nature - in other words, yeah, we still sin. Why? Because the morally neutral desires of our flesh are perverted and corrupted by sin, and sometimes those bad choices look too good to say no to. Which is why we need to rely on God's strength, not our own, to resist these temptations when they arise.

The lifestyle of a redeemed soul by Jesus' sacrifice and Victory will live in the 'liberty of obedience' not the freedom of license or vanity. Romans 6:20-"It’s a stark contrast between license and freedom to obey His righteousness 21 [for] what benefit were you then deriving from license except embarrassment for yourselves for the results is eternal judgment. 22 But now having been freed from judgment that enslaved you to God, you derive boundless benefit, resulting in sanctification and eternal life."

Romans 7:22-" I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man 23 but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. Wretched man that I am! Can anyone set me free to obey righteousness? 25 Yes! Thanks be to God through Christ Jesus our Lord! So then, on the one hand my mind is serving the law of God but on the other with my flesh, the law of sin. 8:1 [for] now there’s no condemnation in Christ Jesus. 2 The law of sacrifice in Him has set you free from the judgment of law of death 3 for the Law was weak and could only condemn through the flesh. God did send His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh for justice demands He be condemned in His flesh 4 that the requirement of the Law be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 Those who remain trapped according to the flesh set their minds on the flesh but those who walk in obedience set their minds on the Spirit 6 for the mind set on the flesh is death but the mind set on obedience to Jesus is life and peace."

I think we do deal with sin every day. In fact, my own opinion is that even our 'good deeds' are marred with imperfect motives and imperfect performance of the deeds - but - that there is still sincere goodness and righteousness in what believers do - I don't dispute that. It is because of the nature of God's grace - it reigns in righteousness. It produces righteous deeds in the believer, but we still have an active - though defeated - sinful nature.

Yes, I do, and it is hard to learn to resist what I want to do, but know is wrong, and it is disheartening to think that the struggle will never be over till we see him.

Galations 4:17 The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two are CONSTANTLY fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict.

In verse 17 Paul explains the basis of his confidence in the Spirit. He describes the war between the flesh and the Spirit and the result of that war. The Spirit and the sinful nature are two hostile forces opposed to each other: the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other. So walking by the Spirit (v. 16) means fighting in a war between the Spirit and the sinful nature (v. 17). The connection between verse 16 and verse 17 indicates that those who live by the Spirit are not neutral in this war. They are committed to fight on the side of the Spirit against the desires of the sinful nature.
This inner spiritual warfare is the nature of the Christian life; it is the experience of all those who live by the Spirit. The conflict Paul is describing here is not the moral conflict that everyone feels at some time, nor the conflict of a wayward Christian who is no longer committed to Christ. This is the conflict of a thoroughly committed Christian who is choosing each day to "walk by the Spirit." Each day the Christian who chooses to walk by the Spirit is engaged in a fierce battle between the Spirit and the sinful nature. It is important to stress this point, because many Christians feel ashamed to admit that they are experiencing such a conflict. They feel that mature Christians should somehow be above this kind of struggle. They imagine that the great saints were surely too spiritual to feel the desires of the flesh. But Paul flatly contradicts such images of superspirituality.



I guess that it is normal to fight sin all of the time. I feel discouraged that maybe I am not a what I should be when I sin almost everyday (and I make sure to always confess and try to repent), but maybe I am thinking that God expects a lot more of me than he does. I feel like I am not good enough, but in a way that seems like basing my salvation and what God thinks of me on works rather than on faith.
I also thing that it seems impossible to have perfect motives a lot of the time. I try to do things that are good, but I often also have some selfish motives included. And there are a few gray areas. It is hard to be completely sure of what is right or wrong all of the time.
So do you think that I am not a bad person for sinning every day, if I confess and try to repent?
