Do you think that employers should provide free day care? Why or why not?

No. It's a business. Subsidized maybe, but not free.

No, BUT it might be a wise idea for some larger companies to have daycares ON SITE. There is a company nearby that was considering it at one time - I'm not sure whatever came of it, but I was considering applying for a position if they could promise me the right part-time hours. I know, having a daycare within walking distance of the corporation I used to work for would have been a major blessing - especially while I was nursing! I may or may not have used it since I had my hubby home days and a live -in "nanny" (my baby sister for the summer), but it would have been nice to have the option. I wouldn't have expected it to be free - but reduced rates would have been nice too!

Blessings,

Garsy

No, that is not their responsibility. Subsidized or on-site daycare is a nice benefit though.

On-site daycare sounds like a good idea.

If the company has a flexible benefits package, day care expense could be an option.
