Beanteaser -> What are some songs everyone likes? (7/21/2008 3:37:42 PM)

I have room for several hundred more songs on my mp3 player and can't think of anymore to add. I have a year subscription from Rhapsody so I can chose between millions of songs. My goal is to add songs that everyone, well almost everyone, likes (or will like) from any style of music from any time period. So, any ideas? I am all out.

I wanted to listen to "String Around My Finger" by Geoff Moore but I don't have Rhapsody (I was trying to find sound samples on Rhapsody, I was able to listen to those). So you can d/l it for me. Well not for me but well you know.

I don't think you'll find a song that everyone likes. When I was a teen I had several people tell me the one song that "described" them was "Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas. "Bohemian Rhapsody" is a song that I've heard nary a bad word about. And people I know have always had kind words for Journey.

Does Rhapsody have the songs from Phil Keaggy's "The Master and the Musician". Good stuff that's in a style you don't hear every day yet totally accessible.

That's all I got.

I already have several Kansas and Queen songs but can't believe I didn't have any Journey songs. Good call! [:)]

Rhapsody does have "The Master and the Musician" album, it's the 30th anniversary edition. I already have my favorite Phil Keaggy songs, he is amazing! Truly an artist.

Find some music by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Stuff like "Up Around the Bend," "Down on the Corner," "Proud Mary," and "Bad Moon Rising" are classics that everyone will know and probably enjoy.

Also, I think some of the more popular Fleetwood Mac songs like "Dreams," "Go Your Own Way," and "Yesterdays News" might be good.

Alabama's "Roll On" and "Dixieland Delight" are fun ones

And the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band has TONS of songs that I think a lot of people would like (try "Fishing in the Dark," "Cadillac Ranch," "Fire in the Sky," and "Partners, Brothers, and Friends.")

Just to avoid any confusion in his search: are you sure you aren't thinking about "Don't Stop" from Rumours (with the end of the chorus being "Yesterday's gone ... yesterday's gone") or perhaps "Second Hand News" also from Rumours?

Or perhaps I haven't heard the song "Yesterday's News".

Actually he should d/l the entire Rumours album, just to be safe. Or a greatest hits package. Snag "Sara" also, beautiful song. Great call on Mac and CCR.

I picked up the CD of "The Master and the Musician" (30th ann.) at my local Family bookstore. Amazon and other online outlets were sold out. Just as well as I supported a Christian business and got it right away (but paid a little more).

Yeah, I think he was talking about "Don't Stop." I just downloaded that song.

And congrats on the Phil Keaggy cd. That's a classic.

I'm partial to the 1st Jars of Clay CD (Jars of Clay). Worlds Apart, Liquid, Sinking, Like A Child, Flood and Love Song for a Savior are my favorites.

Other genres: classic R&B like Al Green's "Let's Stay Together", Aretha Frankin's R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Classic 80's music - soft rock - Hall & Oates (Rich Girl, Sara Smile, I Can't Go For That, Kiss on My List, She's Gone), Duran Duran music, Journey (Don't Stop Believin', Faithfully) Air Supply (sappy love songs LOL), Christopher Cross (Ride Like the Wind, Sailing)

Classic 70's music - love songs - Andy Gibb ("Just Want to Be Your Everything" is classic), James Taylor, KC & The Sunshine Band (That's the Way-I Like It, Boogie Man), Carole King, Carly Simon, ABBA, Boston (More than a Feeling), Barry White "Can't Get Enough of Your Love"

50's/60's music - The Beatles, Elvis songs, early Rolling Stones music

Thanks, I might post my review on the forum. Most of the review is a rant about how the Christian music industry has forgotten its pioneers (like Keaggy but he's one of the fortunate ones).

Foreigner, Chicago, Toto, Simple Minds, The Police, U2, and Depeche Mode from a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away called the 80's.

mysaviorloves24 -> RE: What are some songs everyone likes? (7/23/2008 1:11:06 PM)

Tenth Avenue North, Jeremy Camp, Aaron Shust, The Glorious Unseen, Hillsong, i could just go on, and on, and on...

uncabeeil -> RE: What are some songs everyone likes? (7/23/2008 3:08:42 PM)

What Beatles do you have? No library is complete without "With the Beatles", "Sergeant Pepper", Abbey Road", and the White Album.

There are some really good suggestions. I have my favorite songs by many of the artists listed, but still missed some very obvious ones. I still have about 1.5 gb to go.

I wish I could add more Beatles songs but Rhapsody doesn't have many available to download. Stinks huh?

Focusing -> RE: What are some songs everyone likes? (7/23/2008 4:48:29 PM)

Let Everything That Has Breath Praise the Lord - Phillips Craig & Dean
Faith - Hillsong (Darlene Zschech)
Cry Out to Jesus - Third Day
Psalm 40 - Newsong
East to West - Casting Crowns
Amazing Grace - Chris Tomlin
Give Me The Words To Speak - Aaron Shust
Shout To The North - Delirious

These are just a few that pop into my mind [:D][:D][:D]
