OneJohn410 -> where did my pre-post typing go? (7/14/2008 2:43:03 AM)

Warning! Do not test the following after several minutes of typing! I'd done a lot of pre-post typing, and watched the forum server dutifully keep me online and whatever else it does while I was typing. I then managed to bump the monitor settings button, and up pops the little graphics menu of my choices and such. I then subconciously reached my left ring finger up to the ESC key while thinking go away, silly menu. Tap. Poof! My reply was reduced back to its start. All my keystrokes gone. I don't know if this is documented anywhere already, but if you didn't know the power of your ESC key (that's Escape, for you folks with complete english keyboards), now you know to glue something over that key so it can't be bumped. I will not cry if the programming for this key is done away with. I generally highlight and tap delete or just hold my backspace key down if I don't like something. Also, I have heard of typing up posts using Notepad or some such, then just copying and pasting the whole thing into a thread later, so that a server burp doesn't shut down everything, including the loss of all the key presses. Thanks for giving us somewhere to share the knowledge. OneJohn410
