Holy Cow!!!!! So much going on since yesterday. Roberta I am in Indy!!!!! We left from West Virginia today and plan to be home in WI late in the morning or early in the afternoon tomorrow. Kathy, how did your doc appt go? It was today right? Julia, glad that your bible school went well. I used to do alot with that at my old church. Momma, I love family reunions. I have never been to one that has had alcohol though. I can see why you and your family would be upset, but if you do want to let the kids have a relationship with the family, maybe go and explain that there is a bit of tension and that some family members just don't have the same values as your family. We have a picnic and it is the same weekend in August every year. But we don't have to travel. Fortunately, we (the grandkids) of the family are in charge of planning and all live in the same area so the picnic is always near home in the same park. But we do have relatives that do travel as far as Las Vegas. I have to go to mine this year because we have two relatives who may not make it through the year and another who had a bad motorcycle accident not too long ago and I want to see them. It just gave me a good dose of how fragile life can be. Hi Kylie!

We never had any problems with the drinking. No drunken fights, no lampshades on the head. It was there, and Poppa or I might have a beer. Mom even made a big deal about her favorite neice giving her a can of beer as though it was a treasured gift - which probably contributed to the reaction to the 'no alcohol' policy. She was thinking that she didn't want sued if someone fell. They were thinking they have had a case or two at every other reunion, including ones she had planned and she didn't say anything. Mixed messages. The drinking is the least of the worries. Poppa said no to the shirt but I can write the phone number on a hat. Poppa said if we can get the camp thing figured out we can go. I talked him into the over night only trip (rather than two nights). We have to be on the road at 6am with full tummies. Now to find a room. I think what really bothers me is that I think Mom is wrong to not go. The kids do now, (without knowing the back story) and I think BigBee would if I told him. So, we are all forced to 'defend' someone whose actions we don't support. Edited to add... The invitation was neat. It is a picture of my cousin looking away from the camera with his bionoculars looking over the hills (he is at the top of one, and he is looking over the Poconosw) and it has a heading with the reunion name and the date / location and "We're looking forward to seeing you again!"

Why do you have to defend your mother? Don't. If/when you are asked, tell them you don't know. Over and over again...I don't know.

Maybe defend isn't the best term. How do you answer 'does your mom know that we miss her hear?" "I really wish that she would get over whatever is bugging her" And still be sincere and honest and true to my own opinion...

Forgive me if you've already told us. Dee I'm going to be a back office medical assistant. We do vital signs, give injections, draw blood and other routine testing. We can also assist the doctor with minor surgeries. I start the internship phase, which lasts about a month and gives us some practical experience, on Monday the 21st. I should be done at the end of August. I'm happy to say that God blessed me with a 99/100 on my final!

Well - I guess we are going... My brother called and offered to drive - I DON'T want to ride with him, but we can work that out. Now, to find a room. Told my mom. She said "make sure to get me a calander, I'll give you some money" I wonder if I can talk her into writing a letter for my uncle to read. She is sending pictures. I make things into something bigger than they are. Now, if Mom would figure out we can't drive her to every doctors appointment... By the end of summer, I will have used 5.5 vacation days. 1 day was for my family (unless I plan something else). Oh, and his surgury. I took time for that. She just sends me and my sister notes with dates and times as asks who is taking them. And, she picks the time for the appointments to maximize the shopping time... I shouldn't get upset about it, but I am taken for granted.

Ahhahahahahahah!!!!!!! Just found out that there are 5 part-time aide positions open for kindergarten aides in our districts school in 3 buildings!!!!! Two of the positions are in the school Zoe, Ethan and Aryn are in!! The deal is that they are very part time - only 3-40 minute sessions a week or two hours a week. I could easily fullfill the duties for BOTH kindergarten teachers and still be consider very part time! I called immediately and got my application sent over to the school and hopefully I'll get a phone call in the next few days! This is MY JOB! MINE! Please, please, please pray that it all works out! Blessings, Garsy

Garcy, that would be great if you got that job. Usually you get those jobs that are limited in hours, but then by the end of the year, you are almost full time. That is how it works here at least!

It was unexpected. :) it works out better too because Mike has a pdoc appointment on Friday and I didn't want to take him to the neurologist with me. It just makes for a long day.

Kath - you've been on my mind. I've been praying for you. Well, I looked at our calander - summer is over. DeeDee has camp this weekend. Reunion the next two weekends. BigBee is at camp for the second. We are actually FREE on the following one (so far) BigBee at camp the following one Which brings us to 'back-to-school' weekend. I heard from my uncle last night. He said 'bring your folks' when I said we were coming. I said I was hoping to bring my brother. He asked about Dad (who is walking 2-3 miles a day) and said that it is flat out there, they could find him a place to walk. I joked that if we pointed him in the right direction and he didn't turn around, he'd already be there. And that was that. Oh, and I discovered that he and I have the same adversion to call-waiting. He goes as far as no caller id, which I couldn't do (oh, I could, but I am hooked, oh-so-hooked) Yes, I pay for call-waiting and have it disconnected at the phone companies end.

Momma, I am asked the same things of my mom all of the time. She never comes to anything the family does and that leaves them asking me the questions. I finally just decided to tell those people who asked me to bring her that she will come on her own if she chooses, and when I get there and they ask why she didn't come, I don't make excueses or even explain. I simply tell them that they could call her and ask her. In the end, my mom started to get phone calls, and since I have told her that I am not going to lie for her, she has started to take on some responsibility and go to some family functions. And yes, I do think it is a responsibility because there are so many people involved that I don't think it is fair to punish everybody because she is mad at one person. Kathy, I will be thinking and still praying for you today. I hope all goes well. Julia, that is great about your Bible School session. I haven't even had time to check into that program at our church. With moving and being gone from the beginning of July until now, I think I may have missed it. We are back from our vacation and I am both relieved, but feeling a bit lost at the same time. I still don't feel like this house is my home and I don't get it. I am the one who wanted this house so badly, and it is exactly what my family needed as far as size and location are concerned, but I just can't feel comfortable here. I suppose it will feel more like mine when I have to start making payments on it.

If it will help, you can make a payment on mine in the meanwhile I blame part of my problem with the denomination - the mindset of it. I have been corrected on how I fold my hands to pray because it isn't 'right'. Take a superiority complex and add guilt and then be a woman that expresses an opinion and it becomes a storm in a hurry. So, I'll fold my hands secure in the knowledge that the Lord hears my prayers when my fingers don't point Heavenward and add my own prayer that I hold my tongue... :D

Thanks for the offer momma, but somehow I don't think me making your house payment will make me feel more at home here. I have to set up my payments online so that I don't skip them. I am terrible at mailing things in and usually if I have to send something through the mail, it doesn't happen. I don't know why I have this problem with writing a check and putting it in an envelope, but I do. I can go online, click on my payments, and watch the money drain out of my account instad. How weird.

I'm the same way. My Mtge just got sold and that is NOT an option. I don't know what I will do. I can make weekly payments on the car and it doesn't hurt as bad. And, I'm money ahead. Why can't the mtge company let me do that? I could send a check once a week.

Howdy, folks! Kath, I pray you'll soon be feeling better. Garsy, the job is yours. I pray it comes out well. Hope the busy week gets sorted out. Julia, sounds like Bible School is going very well. I pray the week finishes on a high note. Mbee, hang in there. We used to be fussed at because we left early from the reunion. It was held at a church hall and was basically eat then sit around and talk - which works fine for adults, but not for kids. (There was no good play area at the church for kids.) So those of us with kids decided to rock the boat and suggested changing it to a park where there was plenty of activity for those that wanted it and a nice place to sit and visit for those who wanted that. They've been better attended in the last three years, and folks stay almost all day. I hope you have a good time despite the issues that may arise. Tracy, it takes time to get used to a new house. I moved several times as a youngster, and I remember that it was usually a couple of months before I really felt "at home." When you have everything unpacked and set up like you want, that helps, but you still need to get used to the house. Kim, that was a great final grade! Do you have a job already lined up? I forget. Kylie, hope school gets off to a great start for the kids. How's the job going? Have a great day, all!

Probably because when you do that, you pay less interest since your paying more often. That is the only thing I can think of. They simply don't make enough money. (((((Kathy))))) It is 3:00 here. Thinking of you!! Hi Deb! Thanks for the encouragement. I know it takes time, and I lean towards depression and anxiety anyway, but still, I just feel wrong about this. So wrong that I feel like we made a mistake moving here. I don't know why. Today I put some pictures up on my little shelves that are on the wall. The rest of the pictures need to just go on the wall. And I also did a bit of re-arranging and it looks a bit better. Oh well. At least we kept busy today.
