I thought the fire thing was settled. Ds2 was certain we were going to ground him. Nah. Stupid kid thing. Did you learn something. Okay, that's settled. Except...

One of the fire fighters found a pocket knife in the woods. Somehow I ended up with it. I left it on the kitchen island with the wrench and two empty fire extinguishers. (Did I mention that dh was gone when this all happened???) Ds2 saw it and said it was the neighbor boy's. The one whose firework actually started the fire. I said the neighborboy could have it back after I knew that his dad knew what happened. Those boys were back at their mom's by then and the dad wasn't home. Ds2 went into his "life's not fair, you can't do that to him, etc, etc, etc." Uh, I'm an adult. I can do whatever I want. He can have the knife back--after his dad knows what happened! What is wrong with this kid?! Why all the drama?! Has testosterone totally pickled his brain?!

If you find any other things on China, let me know. I'm doing a special night with kids 10 and up at church in two weeks.

I got a check for thirty cents. Should I cash it? LOL I mean...thirty cents?! It cost them more for the stamp!

But if I don't deposit it, their books will be off forever, lol.

I wouldn't make a special trip. It would cost more in gas than the amount of the check.

Whatever happened on that job you had to have your resume into within 45 minutes?

Well, originally they said it would start today if I were hired, but when I emailed on Friday they were like, 'well, today is an 'off' friday for them so we aren't expecting to hear until Tuesday or so...' This is why I don't like this agency! They are so unreliable. I talked to two employees at the company that is hiring--my mom and a gal from church. They have orientations on Mondays, so it would probably be next Monday.

His,

When I read your first line of "the boys started a fire" My first thought was "Stupid boy thing!"

Shadowspring,

If Jane from Denmark had been our first exchange student, my parents probably would not have had anymore. Since we had had so many good experiences before that, we continued on and had many more good experiences after her.

Misaham,

I understand. When we first moved out here, we had the same thing-still paying for our house back there, and once we moved into a house here, paying two mortgages, etc.. Fortunately that only lasted a month for us but the tension, the worry-the fact that we might not get the house we wanted here because the house back there wouldn't sell...

I've been there. (((Misaham)))

Is it a temporary job or a permanent job?

I'm glad Jody got his money situation straight, so you didn't have to pick up his slack again.

Cynthia, he even brought me dinner last night, lol.

Well, it's a temporary job, but the way this company runs it is that for admin. assistants they always hire temps for 2 months, and during that two months you apply for a perm. job and if they like what they have seen so far, they will hire you. So it's temp but with a very good chance of becoming permanent.

I just miss the nice cool fall temps ... probably moreso right now because I am growing a little furnace ... which seems to be turned up past high -- I think bambino has set the thermostat to burn!

Miss Evelyn had a stomacke virus yesterday, she barfed right in the middle of the service, in the front row, no less. She's much better now, tummy-wise. Now she is dealing with diarrhea. Anyone kinow something safe to give a 5 year old to calm the bowels?

I like the sound of that.

I cannot believe anyone is ready for fall. I love summer. I get depressed when it ends. When dh retires, I will be living in Washington in the summer and Arizona or New Mexico in the winter. I plan to work on a career as a writer, thus it won't matter where we live.

I'm not ready for fall yet.

I got home and into bed by 1am, and I'm thinking yay, I'll finally get a decent amount of sleep for a change. Then the stupid barometer that lives in my once-shattered ankle decided to make its presence known, and I couldn't fall asleep. I popped some ibuprofen but it still kept me awake till after 3am. Irritating.

We got pizza for dinner, so I don't have to make anything.

I wish it would at least rain, then, Cynthia. It hasn't rained in over a month!

You can have some of our rain, Jen. We've had more than our fair share lately.

I am NOT ready for fall!!! I love swimming in open water! Much past Labor Day and there aren't enough people at the lake to make it safe. Then I'm stuck in the fishbowl. Although, I do enjoy winter running...

Cindy--since you are short on sleep now, does that mean we'll have a chance of getting some sleep at FOT?

I'm tired. I had a really good swim this afternoon, but it about did me in!

His, a few questions, assuming I ever let this child leave the house again:

He wants to swim the great Columbia Crossing on sept. 9th. They said the water should be at around 70 degrees at that point in time. Anyway, I feel he needs open-water training because it isn't the same as swimming in a pool. But I don't know that it's safe to have him out there swimming back and forth across the river. What do I do?

Fat chance, girlfriend. I should be well rested by then.

For goodness sakes, Jennifer! You do not need rain. Go play in the sprinkler.
