OK. Just a thought. What if you got it real warm with a space heater before he went to bed and then took it out when he goes to bed. THen keep the door to your room open to give him some heat at night. It opens to your room right and you have heat.

I'lm sure you thought of some of these things anyway but just offering ideas.

We kinda sorta have heat even in our room. The whole upstairs is cold in the winter, really, but that room is like being outside, minus the direct wind. Granted, that is with the doors being kept shut, so I don't know how it would do with the doors open.

We keep our oil thermostat set at 50-55, so when the wood fire dies down, that's the temperature DOWNstairs. Upstairs is a good 5-10 degrees colder. Yeah...gotta love old uninsulated houses...

Doesn't CPS have a children's advocate for Nick? This whole situation is so asinine, it's hard to believe, except that you hear this kind of situation all the time. It is terribly sad how the systems set up to protect children are so messed up that they are messing up not only particular children in the system, but the families that they are in as well. The complete lack of sense is astounding.

I think part of the problem is that parents are no longer parenting. I have known many children whose parents let them watch anything. They watch all sorts of horror movies and various R rated movies with sexual and violent themes; movies that are inappropriate not only for children, but for anyone. These things are considered normal and the prerogative of parents to introduce to their own children. No wonder agencies designed to protect children often end up making more of a mess of things rather than helped to correct problems.

Situations like this make me realize all over again why I should not call CPS unless a child’s life in actually in danger. It is so messed up that the officials can’t even recognize what the problem is, let alone who is responsible for it.

I am very sorry you are having to go through this, Donna. It is the stuff nightmares are made of.

"For the good of the child" is not what these people are most concerned with. Remember that these are the same people that we had to deal with and who decided it was better for two children to be put in a group home rather than in a good family just because they didn't want to deal with interstate adoptions which is their job. They don't have to make sense. It is no skin off their nose.

It just shows how out of control our government is, but people are so complacent that it’s like the masses are hypnotized.

One of the side affects that can occur from the radioactive iodine treatment is to lose one's ability to taste. I have pretty much lost mine. Starburst candy tastes almost like wax. I have to make myself eat because nothing tastes very good. I am finding myself not able to sleep at night because I haven't eaten enough during the day. I get up and make a snack of tortilla chips, sharp cheddar cheese and pepperoni. I can barely taste the salt on the tortillas. I can't taste the sharp cheddar and the pepperoni only has a little flavor. I am sure that I am going to lose weight. I hope this doesn't last long though. I feel really messed up. It is hard to want to eat or to remember to eat when food doesn't have much if any flavor.

How long it lasts is an individual thing.

I have to go eat a hotdog now. Hot dogs actually taste better LOL! I have never liked how strong hotdogs were before. Now they aren't strong at all.

Can you drink a supplement just to make sure you get your nutrients?

Also, check your status ladies. I'm guessing Fritz will get it fixed, but right now married has been changed into in a relationship.

I might have to if this lasts for very long.

BTW: I take that back about the hotdog. It tasted good on MOnday when I had more taste than I do now. Today, I couldn't eat the hot dog. It tasted like slightly salted tofu.

I am eating cheddar cheese and pepperoni again.

I changed it back. I don't want to commit, you know, since I haven't even met the man. Whoever he is.

Donna,
Sorry to hear about Nick.

I have victory over the I-pod!
I figured out how to listen to it through my computer. Woo-hoo! Good thing too because I was able to listen to all the songs and run through them quickly. Psalm 9 I was able to listen to and figured out most of the dance but there's one little part I couldn't remember. So we will be doing something a little different there. It fits the music so that's what I'm going with.

I also see that in two weeks we have a new song-I think. I have that song on CD-don't know if the leader does. I'll ask her and see if she would like for me to come up with a dance for that one.

"In a relationship" was added to the list of statuses. Probably that's what messed everything up. If single was #4 on the list maybe now married is #4 or something like that.

ROFLOL...yeah you have to get used to that brown grass look here huh!!!

When I was a kid, sometime you would come across a lawn that had been spray-painted green. I assume it was a recent arrival who just couldn't get used to that brown look!

Donna, I will be praying for you and the situation with Nick. Have you thought about moving him into your room when he comes to visit? I know it would mean giving up your privacy for a few nights at a time, but well worth the peace of mind it would bring.

Personally I am completely burned out on trying to help the ungodly. It must be horrible to be permanently tied to Nick's mother's side of the family. I will pray for more grace for you.

Jenny-Fair, sorry the relationship with the mystery man is coming along so slow. He must be that perfect man that everyone talks about but no one has ever met.

I do not want to move him into my room. I need the refuge from him, bad as that might sound, and Brian and I need our space alone, especially with all the conflict with him. Plus, with it being summer and being pregnant, I have been sleeping naked with no sheet directly in front of the fan and STILL sweating.

I've decided today we are going to be changing the rooms around, and blaming it on the baby coming. Not sure how exactly we'll do it yet...but Hannah is being moved in with Levi tonight. I just pray she SLEEPS.
