Hey. Just sneaking in here in the middle of the night to make my Super Member post. Sure there's no fanfare this way, but hey, Beaker is pumped for it - as you can see!

Excellent music, by the way.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing earlier today.....we had a wonderful steady rain with little lightning (a rarity for us in the summer), but now it's bright and sunny out. I'm heading home from work - good night all.

OK, so where is the boundary between Southern and not Southern? I have an idea in my head but I wonder what others think.....

Mason-Dixon?

Yeah, but that still doesn't explain how FL is NOT a southern state, thought it is geographically. That's what I was trying to do with my later post.

Think of the interstates - I10, I75 and I95. I10 runs east/west through the panhandle. In the panhandle, anything to the south of I10 is NOT southern (meaning, it's all transplants from the north).

Honey Child, I was born in Florida, and I am a Southerner. Just because I live on the south side of town doesn't make me a Yankee transplant.

Of that, I have no doubt. I will admit, there ARE more southern folks in the panhandle than there are in my area - that's for sure. The one man who stole my heart (and proceeded to break it) was a southern gentleman.

This is the first time I've heard that Florida isn't really a southern state.....but I've never been there, so...

Most of Florida is not "southern" -- we have a lot of transplants here. In my area, we have a lot of people from the Northern states, but throughout the state, we have a large hispanic population. We have several large universities and people from around the world move here for educational and career purposes. People also move to Florida to get away from the cold and to have more sunshine and beaches. We just have a LOT to offer -- I'm only scratching the surface!

That said, we do have a lot of Southerners who live here... my family for instance. My parents' families came from Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, and a lot of Florida natives have southern accents. We're just one big mixture of folks here.

Makes sense. We are too far north to really be "southern" IMO, even though we are 2 hours south of the Mason-Dixon line.

So, I tried to start a "longest thread" for singles and I found out that I couldn't. This is just as cool tho...you know?

So, how many of you enjoy the rain?

This thread is usually the longest one in any month... and if you added up all the chat threads, it would reign supreme. :)

I love the rain. I'm not keen on lightning, but if I were indoors with someone special, that would be okay, too. :)

I love that...

Jesus comes like the rain! :X

And dancing in the rain...and I love thunder, but I am not much for lightening either...

Hey! Why can't I say that Texas isn't part of the south but the Floridians can? It's an injustice, I tell ya.
