It's a dead heat between Romney and Jindal, I think.
I wouldn't be surprised if he picked either.

I still think Leiberman is a front-runner for McCain's VP. Although Romney is not far behind (and IMO would be a better pick).

I agree 1001%.
As for McCain meeting with Jindal recently, Jack, don't count your hot pockets before they're nuked. McCain has a lot of advisors, and Jindal is among them. They could have been discussing anything.
I still think Charlie Crist or Romney will be McCain's veep choice. Not that I think either would put McCain over the top. People tend to vote for presidential nominees, not their running mates.

McCain is rumored to be picking his Veep this week. I am warming up the microwave and other neccesary houshold appliances.

He actually says that he suspects it might be a scam on their part to grab attention from Obama's foreign policy trip.
They better come through and announce it by the end of the week now, though.
It is going to make the McCain camp seem pretty desperate if the only thing they can do to grab headlines is lie (even Novak calls it reprehensible and desperate).
But I guess we'll know by the end of the week if they were telling the truth or not.

McCain should just back off this week and let Obamessiah have his day in the sun. There's nobody from the media around anyway. They're all slobbering over Obamessiah over in the middle east, and preparing for the second coming.

I seem to recall a similar, second coming-like public response by conservatives (both evangelical and corporate) over GW Bush's candidacy in 2000.

Anyone care to predict Obama's VP?
Given what we've seen, I think there's a chance it could be a dark horse candidate that is newer to Washington. (IE: Claire McCaskill) IMHO, Hillary seems unlikely.

Maybe we all will be wrong.
It seems that McCain has been hinting about Pawlenty again:

I actually think Newt makes a lot of sense here and stick by my original belief that Sarah Palin would be the best pick.
As a democrat, though, I'm hoping he picks Romney.
Romney is the single most boring, unspectacular, pick that McCain could come up with. He would add absolutely nothing to McCain's campaign, and really wouldn't benefit him at all. He'd be a warm body filling a necessary office, nothing more.
I don't think Pawlenty would be much better, but at least he's young(er) and a fresh face.

There may have been some conservatives, but the majority of us looked upon it as the lesser of two evils, much as we do today. I'm going to hold my nose and vote for McCain. Also, the media was definitely not in GWB's camp in 2000 nor in 2004. They were almost unanimously for Gore and Kerry.

Yeah, I anticipated McCain picking Jindal, I didn't anticipate Jindal turning him down out of a sense of duty to his state. Curse those ethical and honorable public servants!

Obama has the unique problem of having nobody to choose from who has accomplished less and has less experienced. No matter who he chooses, the ticket will look upside down, with the iinexperienced, little accomplished person on top and the more qualified person on the bottom.

I've heard Jimmah Carter floated as a potential for Obama, as he's still eligible. Let's all hope so. Carter can officially become the administration's special envoy to Ahmadinnahjacket, as long as he can keep from getting lost in the desert on the way to Tehran. Everyone buy sweaters and turn down those thermostats, so we can weather the energy crisis. Obama/Carter...let's party like it's 1979.

That's another reason we need someone with experience. Kennedy's foolishness nearly caused a nuclear war.
Kennedy tells a bunch of Cubans trying to get their country back to invade and he'll supply the air power. They go and weakling JFK betrays them by calling back the air force. He doesn't tell the expatriots. All of them are killed or captured. The Soviets recognize that America has an untested, indecisive, immature guy in the White House so they immediately make plans to put nuclear weapons in Cuba.
I wonder if the commies would have fooled with JFK if they knew he was on speed.
Maybe Obama should pick Robert Byrd. They've got so much in common, like a history of racial ignorance. At least for Byrd I think it's history. Obama's still living it.
