I was in a private airplane owned by a friend of my BIL. We went sight seeing.

When I was little, I had to go once a month to a specialist about 2-3 hours from where I lived. My mother and I would go there by train, and then fly back to our small city so that we didn't have to stay there overnight.

It was on a private plane - during an airshow - and just short half hour flight around the county. I was maybe 5 or 6. First major plane ride was when I was in my 20's and was from Minneapolis to Dallas/Fort Worth. Garsy

From Dallas to NYC when I was 14. But the very first time I rode in something that flies was a helicopter. I was about 10 or 11 years old, and the pilot was a friend of my dad's, and he took us up and then cut the power so I could see how a helicopter didn't crash. That was 40 years ago, and I've never forgotten how I really didn't like that. LOL!

From Kansas City, Kansas, to Jacksonville, Florida. I was in the Army stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, and I was going home to south Georgia on a short leave.. The year was 1972, and I was 20. I flew standby, and it cost me about $60. I had driven my car there from Georgia when I was 19 and gas was 13 cents a gallon (remember gas wars). I let an Army buddy use my car while I was gone..he took me to the airport and picked me up. He cleaned up my car, polished it, and filled it with gas. He had just finished a tour in "Nam and was a little "crazy" (He would sometimes go into rages, and beat metal wall lockers with his fists). Wonder whatever happened to that ole boy? walkin2e

When I was about 10 or 11, my friend Mary Lou invited me to go with her on a plane ride; her father owned a private plane. We just flew around our immediate area, but it was so cool!

From St. Louis, MO to Minneapolis, MN., to see my first future husband. Age 18, and I had lived in St. Louis since age 13. I had no idea that such beauty existed as what I saw coming into and driving around Minneapolis. That city just sparkled like a blue and green gem. It was the cleanest city I have ever seen.

From Edmonton, Alberta to Winnipeg, Manitoba. I was 16, had had some sort of mental breakdown that day at my boarding school and, not knowing what to do with me, the school sent me home where I was taken to all sorts of doctors and tests and such.

I was 14 when I flew from Adelaide via Sydney to Christchurch, New Zealand. Was for an exchange program. My very first time flying was flying alone!

When I was 2.5, with my mom and newborn baby brother. We flew from Syracuse, NY to somewhere in NJ, to visit my mom's sister. I was little, but I remember my brother SCREAMING the entire flight. Oh, and lots of little bags of peanuts that they probably kept giving me to keep me quiet at least! Was the first and last time I flew anywhere, and I have no intention of doing so again anytime soon.

Dallas. If you grow up in Texas, the chances that your first plane ride will stop or end in Dallas are about 95%.

I was about 2 or 3 and we came to America (Maryland). I don't remember the plane ride, but I do remember the morning that we left for the airport. Although I was really little, I knew we were leaving and I was very sad about it.
