Today's devotion... A Bag of Love Recently, I received a gift bag filled with the following items: a birthday candle, a page from a calendar, a list of words, a thread, and a picture of a baby. Each item symbolizes something special: * The birthday candle symbolizes that God knew the day you were born. Ps 139:16 * The page from the calendar symbolizes that each of your days was planned before you were even born. Ps 139:2,3 * The list of words (which could be a typewritten list or a page from an old dictionary) symbolizes that God knows every word you say before you even say it. Ps 139:4 * The thread represents the hairs on your head, which the Bible tells us are numbered. Matt 10:30 * The picture of a baby is to remind you that He knit you together in your mother’s womb. Ps 139:13 Psalm 139:14 I will praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. God wants us to celebrate the little details He thought of. I once read that the word “wonderfully” in the Hebrew is “palah,” which means “to distinguish, or to be set apart.” God created each one of us to be unique and distinct in some way. We each have a special destiny only we can fulfill. In a world of comparisons and keeping up with impossible standards, it is so easy to forget that our uniqueness is His gift to us. Too often we see it as a curse. Ps 139:1 Ps 39:4,5 Isa 43:7 Dear Lord, You love me and created me exactly as You intended. Sometimes I forget that. Help me to see what You had in mind when You fashioned me. Help me to remember that You have set me apart for Your purpose. Thank You for that reminder today, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today's devotion..... The Adventure of Obedience Heb 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” I wonder if God ever calls us to obedience without showing us the path we will travel, or the end result, just to see what we will do. Kind of like a test. Will we obey without a road map? And I often wonder why following God isn’t easier. There are days when I feel tired of getting called out of my comfort zone to obey God. Maybe there is something within us that is revealed when we are pressured from without. Maybe the call to obey shines light on the truth about our faith. I know that in order to grow, faith must be stretched, and that’s often uncomfortable. You see, I have not learned to trust God in the easy ways of faith. I have not learned to trust God by reading a book or listening to a great sermon. Nor have I learned to trust God by hearing how my friend trusts God. No, I am learning to trust God by stepping out into an adventure of obedience and discovering for myself that He is trustworthy. Obeying when God hasn’t revealed the steps along the way or the final destination is challenging. But when we choose to walk by faith and not by sight, God gets all the glory in the end because we KNOW we couldn’t have done it on our own! Heb 11:8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 2 Cor 5:7 … for we walk by faith, not by sight … Deut 28:2 All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you if you obey the Lord your God. Dear Lord... Thank You for always being faithrul to me when I am faithful to You. It's true...looking back, it has been during the hardest times that I felt myself growing...when I stood on faith because I had nothing else. I may not do it the best way I could, or always make the right decisions...but You know I have never doubted that You will bring me thru it. You have proven oven and over, when I 'let go and let God" You always show Yourself to be a wise, loving, powerful Father...who always guides me, and blesses me, for following You. For I DO trust Your will...may Your will be done. All these things I pray...in Jesus' name...amen.

job update......... i'm am SOOOOOOO pleased with how well things went this week. eveyone seems very nice...which is always a concern for me when there's just a couple women in the office. (girls, you know what i'm talkin about! ) but the comptroller is maybe a couple years older than me...with a 4yr old!!!...and she only works til about 3p MO-TH...and is off FRs. the other girl is just 28...and reminds me a lot of my daughter...she sometimes tries to be 'professional,' but then the rest of the time she's "hey, dude..." with the service guys, etc. and always talking about clothes, and asking is the comptroller or i know so-n-so. and then yesterday, she asked me a question just cuz she figured i'd know (i think the unspoken was cuz i'm older. lol) for my first week, i'd say we got along pretty darn well! i didn't meet the owner til TH a.m. and after just a couple minutes, he was telling me how impressed he was that i just came in and started doing things before anyone else got in...and asked if i was looking for a permanent position. i even got a high-five in the afternoon...cuz he thot things were going really well. then yesterday afternoon...the lil miss P&H (plumbing and heating...the younger girl) went on vacation at noon...and i had to handle everything myself. i took all my calls (for electric work)...and the P&H calls...dispatched guys to 2 emergencies...finished sending out miss P&H's statements, etc. about 410p...the owner walked back in and wondered why i was still there. "trying to finish up!" he laughed...and asked if i'd like a beer. uh......sure! so while i cleared my desk...we started talking...for about half-an-hour. he said i had been such a pleasure to have in the office this week...and he really appreciated how accommodating i was with miss P&H leaving early...blah blah blah....and said he hopes this is a long-term situation. i told him "i'm all over that!" told him i really felt God has been leading me to a F/T position locally...and this seems like a place i could really enjoy. we seemed mutually pretty darned happy with the whole idea! lol thank-You, Lord....for leading me here, for rewarding my patience and faith...and for finding a better 'fit' for me than i ever would've if left to my own devices!! (lol) You are so good to me...and i am constantly in awe at how easy You make everything...if i just keep my nose outta Your business...and just follow where You lead! i am soooo excited, Lord! and i just praise You for this blessing. thank-You, Father!!! these things i pray...in Jesus' name...amen.

today's devotion... Show Me The Money The bottom line for our financial strategy became, “show me the money.” If we didn’t have the money in hand – the actual cash – we could not seal the deal. SHOW – Has the store’s SHOW case or marketing techniques tempted me? Rule #1 Never make unplanned purchases, even if you’re thinking, “I have been on the lookout for this.” If that is the case, it should be on your list. ME- Is this about ME or the best interests of the family or community? Rule #2 God didn’t give us money just to make us feel good. When it comes to money topics in the Bible, money is used for things like personal care, giving to others, and paying taxes. THE – What is THE purpose for the purchase? Rule #3 Treat money as if it were a serious tool to be used for the following: glorifying God, providing for the family, and serving others. MONEY- Do I have the MONEY for this? If not, what can I do to get the money? Rule #4 This rule is so simple it hurts. When there is no money, there is no shopping. Prov 21:20 The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get.” (NLT) Matt 6:24 No on can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Lord...You know what a difficult year this has been for me. I've spent the last 3 years re-building financially...and this has been a year of living under the shadow of worker's comp and now short-term disability. It is still a struggle for me to not wallow in my financial difficulties. You know how proud I am about accepting help from others...how it has worn away at my self-worth. All I can do is continue to pray that You will provide...in whatever manner You think best. Lord, I just praise You again, for this temp job...and the possibility of it becoming a permanent situation. I'm still waiting on Your direction. I only want Your will here, Lord. Once again, I just lay this at Your feet...may Your will be done. And I thank You in advance for Your blessings of abundance. I know You don't want me to live in fear and dread. I trust You to provide for all my needs. I like the way Pastor Kirk said it yesterday..."Nothing I have belongs to me. Jesus paid a price for me. All I have is Yours." Please help me to use Your money wisely. All these things I pray in Jesus' name...amen.

Oooohhhhh Kimberly! Your devotion was sooo for me today! *groan* If there is one thing I HATE is to not have money to buy things. I don't mean like, frivlous things, but stuff like gas, and food, and clothes for the boys and school supplies and bills and stuff like that. I would loooove to be able to just do those things BEFORE I start thinking about the 'extra' stuff. *sigh* And I would LOOOVE the extra stuff as well. Especially for the boys. You see, I want so badly to have the house that EVERYONE goes to because there's lots of love, lots to do, and lots to eat. Why? Because there are teenagers out there that don't have a place like that, and I think they need at least one place. Once I can get them in my home, then I can get introduce them to my Father who provided everything and showed me how to love them. I would love to be a person that people know they can come to if they need something; whether its a hot meal, or a bed to rest in for the night, or just a little something for the road. *sigh* But...He has to provide first. Awesome devotion, Kimberly. *huggles*

Awesome devotion, Kimberly. *huggles* oh tink.....you would make the perfect "everyone's other mama!!!" i was fortunate to have the kind of house (and the kind of parents) where we hung out after prom (cuz my mom took me to the mall that day JUST to buy ATARI for us that nite (i was one of the first to get one...computer games weren't so prevalent way back when, ya know. giggle) or we would host all the fall and winter youth group stuff...and do hayrides, and weiner roasts, and make haunted maze in the bar, etc. i was very lucky to 1) be an only child...my parents didn't have to make choices on who could get what, and 2) to be raised to be considerate enuf of my folks to not want a lot (well....except for clothes. lol). i always tried to be very judicious about what i asked for. i think that made it easier for them to "justify" some extra things once in a while. heck...my bf and i (for 3 yrs in high school) would even stop by my g'ma & g'pa's house before we went on our date......and sometime just ended up staying there! and i was fortunate that my daughter has always considered me her best friend...and always wanted her friends to stay with us. i was 'the mama' to dozens of teens. (not that she still didn't get in trouble. OY!!! but i guess it could've been even worse...and it was pretty bad for about 3 yrs.) so i will pray that God will hear your sincere prayers and desires...and bless you according to His will...so that all your things' friends can benefit from such a fantastic mum...and you can extend your hedge of protection around your babies as long as possible.

i accidently left out a word WHEN to make it sound less assuming ... when people rave over ... lol oops i used to write code for a program that handled customer service for a windows & door company. we had estimates built in once you'd pick a task so the rep would know how long to schedule. of course there was variance but the numbers could be automatically corrected overtime assuming people entered things correctly. now driving time was a sticky matter. sounds like you did okay though :)
