PS I Love You- chick flick and I liked it. Hillary Swank and Gerard Butler - husband died and left some letters for his wife. There were some funny oneliners, especially from Phoebe...I mean Lisa Kurdrow. I actually got weepy in some of the scenes.

Made of Honor - typical chick flick but I liked it. Someone mentioned a nude scene - why don't I remember that? there was a lingerie scene, but I don't remember a nude scene. ?

I mentioned the nude scene. I guess "nude scene" wasn't the right term to use. It was when the men were in the locker room. You can see the men in the nude in the back ground while they were taking showers.

I honestly didn't notice that! The main characters were only shown waist up, and I really didn't notice the others. Good thing I guess!

OK, saw two documentaries last night OnDemand.
First, one about anime that was put together by Starz and BangZoom Productions. It was fairly good, but was geared towards more of a male audience, because they mentioned/showed clips from a lot of violent anime as well as mentioning one or two "adult" titles. The documentary was as much about how much anime and manga have influenced Hollywood (The Matrix, Kill Bill, 300, etc.) as much as about anime itself. Wile they got it right on early anime (Kimba and AstroBoy) and 1970's anime (including Speed Racer), they didn't get it as much right regarding 1990's anime in the US - only mentioning Pokemon by name and showing a clip later of Dragonball. No Sailor Moon? That was such a big thing among girls. And of recent anime, it appeared to be more focused on promoting specific titles (Afro Samauri for example), which made me wonder if these were Starz/Manga Productions titles. The narrator was the woman who did the voice for the Major in the US version of Ghost in the Shell:SAC.
The second film was a documentary about women from the US coming to start a beauty school in Kabal, Afganistan after the fall of the Taliban. It was really interesting to hear Afgan women tell their stories about how their life had been, and how it had changed.

In the Valley of Elah- Very Good Movie.
The New Halloween Movie- A lot like the original but with some stuff about how Mike Mires becomes Mike Myers.
Awake- Excellent Movie
Watching Across The Universe right now. Good Film but gotta love the beatles tunes in it. I am humming along to them.

Untraceable - with Diane Lane. It was slow at first. 'can't believe Joseph Cross is all grown up now and playing a bad guy. I remember him on Jack frost and Wide Awake when he was a little guy.

Speed Racer -This wasn't very good, which is kind of a shame as it had some neat parts. It is basically a live action movie working within cartoon logic, and the CGI race sequences are often neat to look at. The only problem is that it's way too long and it takes the plot a lot more seriously than it should have (we really don't need things like 10 minute speeches about the nature of corporate sponsorship in the "Speed Racer" universe, for example). Had they cut out about 1/2 hour it would have been the perfect mindless summer action movie, but as it is it was way too talky and needed a good edit (kind of like the Matrix sequels did).
Prince Caspian -I didn't like the first Narnia movie, but this one was much better. I always thought that "Prince Caspian" was one of the weakest books in the series (it always seemed like a rushed and cheap cash in sequel), but I thought they embellished parts of the book in just the right ways. Plus the Shrek guy has actually turned into a competent director, and there were more than a few neat scenes. It wasn't great, and we've seen most of the stuff here before, so it's not really innovative in anyway, but it's competent and enjoyable. Plus I think most of its biggest flaws mainly come from the book itself as oppossed to anything wrong with the movies (I always hated the way the earlier books used Aslan as a kind of cheap deus ex machina. I like the later books better, when he's more on the periphery and less directly involved in the events of the characters' lives).

The Greatest Game Ever Played - on DVD. It was inspirational in watching someone who, by most standards, would be considered as a loser or not eligible by some standard, and because of their passion, even without their father's support. What really sealed it is when the dad finally came around and gave his son his approval. It reinforces how important it is for fathers to let their children know that they approve of them.

The Final Season- Absolutely Loved it.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford- Good Movie. Casie Aflick was amazeing in it.
Fracture- Good Movie. One of the better Anthony Hopkins movies in a while.
Beauwolf- Watching it right now and seems pretty good

Vampire Wars- early 90's, vintage anime involving a Japanese mercenary working for the French Secret Service by fighting against alien vampires, the CIA, and protecting some mysterious chanteuse who's central to it all.
Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer- I can see why Michael Rooker is so highly praised for his performance as the titular, socio-path anti-hero, as some some murderer loosely-based on Henry Lee Lucas--except the latter its based in Texas, not Chicago... and I can see why this movie's been so controversial. Given it was re-released uncut in 1990 via the film festival circuit, it helped propelled the debate over the MPAA's decision to implement the NC-17 rating (for serious, adults-only art house dramas), as opposed to the more pornographic-connotative X rating.
...and yes, the subject matter is pretty hard to watch, never mind the fact that the most disturbing scenes took place after the fact, i.e. the opening sequence, and the videotaping of the 2 main protagonists' sadistic romps. It's interesting to note that when the late Gene Siskel commented the part where Henry's (equally depraved) ex-con roommate was trashing their malfunctioning TV, it's been noted that the character traits displayed by the latter is no different than when the duo was having their way with a couple of prostitutes.
I think the film's tagline says it all:
He's not Freddy (Krueger). He's not Jason (Voohees). He's for real.
Watch out Sir Anthony Hopkins. Hannibal Lecter's got some competition!

The Concientious Objector-A movie about Desmond Doss. He was a combat medic who served during WW2. During his entire time there he never carried a weapon of any kind. I caught it on TBN and I highly reccomend the movie.

Saw "Sweeny Todd" DVD with Johnny Depp. It was good. A bit on the gory side but the story and music were good. Who knew Johnny Depp could sing?
Also saw the 10 Commandments. The computer animated one that recently came out on DVD. It was good but the animation could have been so much better. It looked to much like a video game. We enjoyed it anyways :)

Diary of a Mad Black Woman. The movie was okay to me. All of my friends loved it but I just thought it was so so. The message was good, though.

Rendition. Better than the two above, by far, but not an award winner.
Dead Zone. My ds had never seen it. I wasn't sure I'd still like it, but I did. Still just as suspenseful!
