Our gas has gone down 1 cent to 4.34 a gallon  since the announcement of drilling.

I've seen as low as 3.97 here, and that's at a place with a .10 discount if you get enough groceries. I hate getting gas, but its just a part of my week.

...... I just saw a story on the news last night saying that grocery prices are expected to go up 5%   
I guess it's time to put a little more effort into being a thrifty shopper!

I saw a price of $3.78 this morning. I figure when it gets to my target price of $3.75 I'll be able to afford to go grocery shopping and pay that extra 5%...

I'm really hacked at how our prices here are just not going down, and yet demand has gone down. Prices have gone down about 2 cents, and that's it. It is frustrating because we're held hostage to the prices. There is nothing else to do. Decrease in demand or the specter of more supply is not helping. The problem is that we're up here in the mountains and there is not enough competition, so we get gouged. I've seen that first hand for the more than 10 years I've lived here. But everyone is really feeling it now.
What is really galling is that Steamboat 15 minutes to the East of us has cheaper prices. I've heard gas station owners say it was due to the fact that we are more out of the way. Nevermind that the gas trucks come down from Wyoming and bring gas to us before they go on to Steamboat. If I think about that one too long, I'll really get my knickers in a twist. But why I should be so shocked by this kind of greed, I don't know.

DH has been complaining about that too. The price of oil has dropped quite a bit, but the price of gas has only gone down a few cents/gallon.

I/m still paying 4.26 at the pump. That's down from 4.44 a couple weeks ago. I was out in MN earlier this week and it was 3.69. I was like WOW, cheap gas.

my parents and several siblings live in MN, so we compare gas prices between them and us here in IN all the time.
They may be paying less for gas - but they are paying $4 or more for milk and other groceries are higher there as well, when compared to what I'm spending. So for me anyway it balances out.
I was in town yesterday and I almost stopped and took a picture of the sign at an area gas station! It read "FINALLY WE'RE UNDER $4!" And below that the price flashed "$3.97!"

One of the gas stations in town had a "Gas Sale"today. it was $3.99! Then we forgot to stop.

back down to 3.87 for cash. good thing because i forgot i had 5 weeks this month for gas so I am overbudget. I get gas once a week so i keep getting about the 5th week. But I used to fill up twice a week with the midsize suv so I am not complaining!

I've noticed that those E-bike things are getting quite popular here ... interesting concept, until you end up stuck behind one taking up the whole lane, while doing 15mph in rush hour traffic!!! AARGH!!! Sorry, but I can pedal faster than that, and my van would love to stay at the posted limit of 35, not 20mph lower!!!

My gas dropped 11 cents. It is down to 4.20 at Costco. Yeah!
I did one good thing today.
I am taking a trip camping for 11 people next weekend. I went to the grocery stores by my house and I found all the sales, and I was able to shave $20.00 off my list. It would have been more, but I added a couple items. Also, now my list is in order, and I can go in the store and focus shop, so that I won't overspend! Yeah!

On my 32-mile commute to the office this morning, i was seeing 3.75 at several locations....earlier this week, the lowest I was seeing was 3.84....
here, we never saw the price of $4/gallon "widespread", just at a few stations here and there went as high as $4.09ish, but, it was easy enough to find gas well below that.

There was a 4 week period here where I couldn't find gas UNDER $4. One day 3 weeks ago I pulled into the gas station that was at $4.08 when everyone else was going up to $4.18. I just finished pumping and had just put the nozzle back on the pump and my 9 year old looked up at the digital sign out front and exclaimed, "Mommy it just went up ten cents!!!" Sure enough! I had to look at my receipt to make sure I had gotten mine at $4.08!

I really can't imagine driving so far to work.... That would be a bummer....
My campus is doing a carpooling thing.... a few people are trying it.... but it's hard with the different schedules (doctor appointments, kids, n stuff)....

 I have an 04 Tahoe, DH an 04 Diesel Sierra HD 2500, 20 yo daughter a 98 Explorer and 16 yo daughter 01 Ford Taurus. I drive a schoolbus and am taking a hit because of field trip cutbacks, my hubby is in cabinet installation and spends over $1000 a month alone and now they are trying to find work because it has gotten extremely slow. The company has had to lay off some of the men. This is the only thing he has done all his life and he is in his mid-forties and is a great person, but was never a good student. Our 20 yo works part-time, goes to college full time and buys her own gas and insurance with little help from us, 16 yo is in band and has to be able to get home afterward and also her sisters ride with her too. You can't hardly get rid of a big vehicle w/o taking on payments. We have 5 kids and all ride together when possible.

gas has always been lower than the national averages here.....I think, due in part, to the immense amount of competition.....
anyway...
yeah...I live in dallas, but work in Fort Worth. It takes only about 45 minutes. I see no sense in moving to Fort worth just to be closer to work. In the 12 years I have lived here in DFW, this is the 4th company I have worked for. Of course, some of those former employers were MUCH closer to home. I like where I live....Iam almost half-way through paying off the house (moving would start me back at "square one", and would require me to buy a much more expensive house, since values have risen so much in the last 10 years).....and, plus, taking into account, the awesome school the kids go to, and church.....I haven't given much thought to moving.....and, who knows, I could move next month, and then next year, I could find myself in a NEW job, back where my current house is! (then, Iam back in the same situation!)
carpooling? that would be great if anyone here at my office lived anywhere near my general area....but, they do not. Plus, I am a "creative professional" (corporate communications designer).....I can't just "turn my brain off" just because the clock says 5:00. sometimes I leave as early as 4:30, if I come to a good stopping point in the day.....other times I am here until after 6:00, as I am working through a thought or an idea....and developing a concept....my "work hours" aren't necessarily dictated by the clock.....(a little voice in my head says, 'Ok...it's time to go home now'....)

Well, the good news is that oil prices are going down, so many drivers are finally getting some relief. Hopefully, most Americans will learn their lesson and buy more fuel-efficient cars next time!
