Jessica - very, very weird. You know I'm almost positive that at some point in our lives we crossed paths.

Happy Birthday Rachel's Hubby!!!!! That's really cute about 30 being so far away.

My hubby turned 35 a few weeks ago. Next month is the 20th anniversary of them coming to Canada. We were talking about it and I said "who would have thought back when you were in Jamaica 20 years ago, and I was only 2 that we would have met and married?" He just said "yeah..." and then a few minutes later "TWO??? Try 7." I said "either way, still makes you look like a cradle robber!"

Whew...been a while since I posted in here. Life is so crazy right now. I feel like I am being pulled in a million directions and not doing a great job at completing any of the tasks that are pulling me. Anyway....I have had a lot of trouble with my allergies lately. I took some Benadryl last night...and it has just made me so tired today that I can't think straight. I am just sitting here and not even feeling like doing ANYTHING. I am exhausted. The kids are wanting to DO, DO, DO something, and I just don't have the energy to DO DO DO anything. :( *sigh* I guess we can read and maybe do some coloring. Something that requires very little movement...lol.

Also kinda feeling "in the dumps" because last weekend (on my birthday), hubby had to help his sister and bil move. We were supposed to do something this weekend, but didn't work out financially...so I was okay with that as long as we got to spend some time together. Well, he's not here. He will be gone most of the day today picking up furniture for his parents, getting our vehicles tuned up, and then working tonight until around 2 am. Then tomorrow, we go to church and that evening he leaves with his dad to go pick up his nephew and nieces...and won't be back until Monday morning, going straight to work from there. So, I basically get none of him this weekend, just like last weekend. Maybe I'm being selfish...but is it so bad to want to spend A LOT of time with your hubby on the weekends when he works all week? *sigh*

I have no way to go anywhere either because both vehicles are being tuned up...

blah....

My dh is 10 years older than me. Wierd to think that he was toting a gun and trying to avoid getting blown up while I was blissfully enjoying 2nd grade in Florida.

Oy, I just looked at the weather for the next several days and it's supposed to be over 100 for the next several days, all scorching sun, no clouds or rain. We've gotten a ridiculous amount of rain this year, so I don't think we'll get too awfully dry, but I really kind of dread the month of August every year. It's long, hot (too hot), we don't normally go anywhere, so it's just a long, hot, boring month cooped up in the house.

Ah well! But after that come my favorite months! September, October, November! (man, this year has flown!!!!)

LOL I slept while they watched TV. I was sitting here with them, and I don't even think they knew that I was asleep. It couldn't have been long, but a little power nap is sometimes all you need. Daddy came home for 10 minutes and GUESS WHAT?! He took both of the boys and left me here with only the little girl who is usually so quiet and so nice that you don't even know she's here. So, now I have quiet too...woo hoo. Now for a little cleaning. I had the house looking SOOO good last week. I mean, really good. I took the night off last night and today, so things are starting to look cluttery again...so I must keep it up. :) It shouldn't take long... Whew...off we go...

ETA: With all this talk about 30. I have been 30 for 8 days now...I remember a cousin who is 10 years older than me....when she turned 30, she looked at me and said, "I still remember when I thought 30 was old." I totally agree.

I can remember turning 20 in college, and someone said to me. Just think, in the next 10 years, you graduate college, start your career, get married and have at least one baby. They were absolutely right, but at the time, it seemed overwhelming.

Same with my DH & I. He is 43, I'm 33. He graduated HS in 1983 so I was only 8 yrs old at the time. So when he talks about those yrs. & college yrs. I feel the age difference. But being married & having children it only feels like 1 or 2 yrs. He can be such a big kid at heart.

Speaking of children, am I the only one or is any one else ready for school to start. My little lambs need some routine & it's hard to do that in the summer. Don't get me wrong, I love them to death, but I'm ready to have my house back to myself. One can only watch so much Hannah Montana and Suite Life in a day. By the way bad behavior = no TV. TV watching is limited within reason of course. If only I could afford a fulltime housekeeper.

Personally I think the summer is going by too quickly! But then, my kids don't go to school, lol.

The boys are gone with their dad today to the boat races. Last year the paper published two of Brandon's photos--I hope he gets one published this year. He had quite a lot of fun being a 'real' photographer.

In any case, other than church and needing to have a meal ready for them all when they come home tonight, I have the day to myself!

However, I may be leaving this thread shortly as there's a very good possibility that I will (finally!) have a job next week. I don't want to work-it's been nice being home for a few weeks-but I have bills to pay and teens to feed.

I feel the same way about my hubby (he is neatly 8 years older then me). Our joke is that it would have looked really weird for him to go to sr prom with a 5th grader on his arm...lol. Sometimes I really do forget how much older he is...then he starts to get up and starts grunting (he had knee surgery a few months ago, so getting up hurts him a L-O-T right now)...lol.

Hillary.....I fully understand your wanting to spend some time with your hubby, even if you can't afford to spend money. Does he know you feel this way? If not then you can't hold him to a standard that you haven't even spoken to him about yet (I tend to do that, esp when I am upset...I don't know if you do though). If he does know, then does he really know the depth of how you feel about it or was it said just in passing?

I hated my 30th birthday....literally H-A-T-E-D....but it had nothing to do with my turning 30. I don't mind being 30, but it's weird to tell people that age when they ask. A few weeks ago when we had to give someone the information for Justice's birth certificate one of the questions they asked was mother's age...that's the first time I have had to tell someone I was actually 30....very weird.

Dh is 7 years older than me, so we tease about him robbing the cradle. I don't really feel any younger than he is until we start speaking of what was popular when we were in a certain grade or something similar. Otherwise, we're pretty equally matched.

I didn't mind turning 30, but 34 is a little annoying. I've had a couple of people joke that this birthday was an anniversary of my 29th Birthday. That annoys me because I feel just as young as I did at 30!!

It's not being 34 that bothers me, it's that people have been rude.

Oh man, I'm using that one on Dh next time I want to make fun of him. Whenever he talks about things from his past, even if it was only 10 years ago I say "I'm sorry, that was before my time." That makes him boil! We spend a lot of time with his older brother (who is 40) and his wife (who is 36). They get really annoyed when I say that so of course I say it all the time.

I have to admit though, it is weird being closer in age to some of my nieces and nephews than to my husband!

I am getting so frustrated! DD has been gone since July 9th. I miss her!! I know she's having fun. She's supposed to come home tomorrow, but it's looking like the flights are all booked and she'll have to wait until Tuesday, possibly Wednesday. I've done really good and only broke down and cried the first day she was gone. When she told me that she might not be home tomorrow, I did really good while on the phone with her. After we hung up I broke down and cried. I've been told by two well meaning adults that it could be worse. "She could be off to college," "she is 15 you know," etc. Why on earth do people think statements like that make a mom feel better? That doesn't make me feel better! I am well aware of her age and I want my baby back NOW!!!!

Well, I just spent about 20 minutes with my nieces talking to dd on speaker phone. It helped to hear them laughing and joking around. She'll be flying in on Tuesday.

That is hard, Roberta. We are getting ready to leave Gabby with my IL's for the first time in Sept/Oct and I'm already dreading being separated from her. But... we need some time away, and it's only one night.

are you sure she is coming home tuesday Roberta? If so I will add that to my prayer list for tuesday. If it changes let me know, ok?

the thought of being away from my kids (ANY of them) gives me heart palpitations. That's the one thing I hated so much about being in the hospital having Justice. I literally cried every day because of them not being able to be up there very much. In fact a few times I sent Paul home to get a few of them at a time (I thought all of them might be too much for the hospital room so we broke it up into groups...Jack was the only one that came alone a few times).

My BABY is growing up!!!!!! He is asleep on a blanket laying in the living room floor....that's a first. (OK, it might not last very long, Paul is trying to shoo Jack away from him...but still, it's cool that he did actually fall asleep out of my arms for once!!!)

Right now it's Tuesday. She has to fly standby because of her dads job- that and it's free if she goes standby.

To make my day better, I got pulled over twice. Once on my way to morning service and once on my way to evening service! FOR THE SAME THING EACH TIME!! I have a window sticker on my car because we can't get it to pass smog.
Last month I got pulled over for the same thing. The officer was really nice and asked if I'd move my sticker to a more visible place. (It's a convertible so the sticker has to go on the front.) She then told me where it would go best on a convertible.
Well, this morning's officer didn't like it there. I explained to her what the previous officer said and that I was not going to keep moving the sticker around. She told me that with a convertible the hood has to be up so the sticker can be placed in the back window. I told her that according to DMV, that is not true. I now have to appear in court on Sept. 29.

This evening I got pulled over once again. This time was a man. When he saw the sticker he let me go. I asked him if the top had to be up and he said no. I didn't tell him what the lady officer told me this morning.

I don't know if I have the mental strength to fight it in court. However I don't think it's fair to have to pay a fine when I wasn't in the wrong.

(((Roberta))) I'm sorry you're missing your daughter and I'm sorry for the comments that she could be going to university. Like you wouldn't miss when she goes away to university! Sure our kids grow up but it doesn't mean it's ever easy for us!

You'll be ok for the court date, since you know you were well within your legal rights. Do you have to go straight to the court date or is there someone who can take care of it beforehand? When we got our ticket, I went to the MTO (our dmv) and met with a prosecutor who got rid of the ticket for me (since we were in the right) and I didn't have to take it to court.

I'm lucky!

My son is at University but still living at home! His lectures in his first year were on a Monday (midday-6pm) and on a Friday (9am-3pm), so it made financial sense for him to keep living at home, keep his job here, and just travel in on those days (it's a 45 minute train journey, and 5 minute walk the other end). Even for his second year he will only need to be in one other day, so he will stay overnight there just one night per week.

Roberta, oh my goodness! That would be uber frustrating!!

I just have one baby, but I miss him terribly on the rare occasions he stays with my MIL and I go out with hubby or whatever. It just feels like something is missing!!

I'm soooo excited--my mom is coming to visit!!! She'll be here this afternoon and stay until Friday. I haven't seen her since April when Levi and I flew down to visit.

Hello ladies!

We have been very busy this weekend so I have not been on at all. I am so excited because last night we voted in a new pastor. Out of the 205 of us members who voted he got the vote by 99.2 percent, so almost 100 percent. I am so excited to see where God leads our church under our new pastor's leadership.

I am also excited because my parents are coming in tomorrow and will be here until Friday. It will be nice for Hunter to get to spend time with his Nana and Papa too. I am trying to finish up a scrapbook I am doing for my mom (for her birthday) before they get here as well as get the house in order.

I should have just gone on to the second sentence to get the context!!

That stinks about having to go to court. The police really need to get a grip on those rules so you won't be harassed anymore by their conflicting stories and by wasting your time being pulled over when you are a law-abiding citizen.

I've been doing laundry and cleaning clutter this morning. I also glued together a scrapbook page that I'd already designed and cropped and organized our Orland photos from May 2007.

I also accepted a small job. I'll be working 15 hours in our missions office at church doing paperwork and computer work for the Church Revitalization Ministry. I'll be organizing the conferences and mentor training we have for unhealthy churches. I'm excited, but concerned about losing another day. I have been volunteering for 1 day in that office, so I will really only be changing to add a second day. I had a really tough time working full-time and keeping the house together well, so I am hoping 15 hours won't turn me back into the grouchy lady who feeds herself and husband junk food because she's too tired to care after being at work all day. BTDT and I don't want to overload myself like that again!!
