Mary makes me laugh. She has signed on to be involved with So You Think You Can Dance Canada, I'm not sure in what capacity but that will be fun.

The top 20 this year is great. Last night I really enjoyed Joshua and Katee (and I'm glad he admitted to having some ballet training, but it still seems as though he is downplaying it). They were my favourite dance. I also liked Chelsea and Thayne.

I think the couples in the bottom might be the first couple that did hip hop, the disco couple and maybe the slow waltz people - even though I thought they were great, I wonder if the genre they got might work against them because everyone else was upbeat and exciting.

But I never get this stuff right!

I agree with Jodavi about the pairings, I was wondering about that myself, and if they changed it this year because they have what seems to be some seriously short boys and some seriously tall girls.

That's his name. I forgot his name but they sure were good. Thayne's personality almost reminded me of Benji.

'was not surprised who went home tonight. I'm just wondering if the judges (or jidges as Cat would say ...she's too cute ) would find favor on Will because he was with Debbie Allen. He's good but there are just way too many great dancers this year.
Going back to the pairings....I thought it was a bit kinda icky Susie the teacher who's 25 was partnered with Marquis who's 18.
And Twitch....'was watching Hairspray (again) tonight and saw him as one of the dancers in the record store.

I thought the same thing! I also think it's icky that Susie the teacher wore what she did to the audition.

I didn't know Twitch was in Hairspray! I'll have to look for him when I watch it again.

I'm not surprised who went home. I felt kind of bad for them, just because I really didn't like their program (I thought the choreographers could have given them a much better program for the first couple of the first night.)

As well as I remember from last season they started with assigned couples. It's only toward the end that they draw names out of the hat. It would be VERY difficult to have Courtney L. dance with anyone other than Mark (?) because she's 5'11".

For some reason I really want Susie off the show. Maybe it's just that her audition outfits have given her this whole sleazy vibe to me. But I must admit that she danced BEAUTIFULLY!

Loved, loved, loved the Mia Michaels routine. She and Wade Robeson are my fave choreographers on the show... so I was super excited to see him and his sick and twisted group number last night.

Wasn't too surprised to see Raven and Jaimie leave last night. I kind of liked the routine, but I was seriously irritated by all the over-exagerated faces that Raven kept making.

Solo time, I thought Will was the only one that did a great job. Courtney L. was a favorite of mine going in after her Kill Bill routine at the auditions, but it was just ho-hum last night. Hopefully she can ratchet it back up.

Well, I'm off to see if Fox has any of the routines up on the web available for viewing. I really want to see the group number from last night again!

I'm thinking that Susie and Marquis will be gone after tonight's performances. I'm predicting the bottom three will be:

Chelsea and Thayne
Susie and Marquis
Kourtni and Matt

We'll see how close I get.

My bottom three is:

Susie and Marquis
Comfort and Chris (I'm not liking any of the hip hop choreography this year)
Chelsea and Thayne (though I don't want them to go home at all)

I think Susie and Marquis should go home, though I think Marquis is a great dancer. But Susie didn't do well and that is supposed to be her genre.

I love Twitchington as well (and I love calling them Twitchington - I burst out laughing when he said that.) Twitch was incredible last night.

I liked Joshua and Katee's performance but it didn't look as great to me as the judges thought it was. Eh, what do I know?

I'm glad that Nigel corrected Mia Michaels on her comments about the Kherington smiling during the performance and what the performance was actually supposed to be about, because what I got from it was the upliftment and I didn't really pay attention to the video before the dance.

And I think that Mary Murphy has been shopping in Paula Abdul's closet.

Oh, and the camera is really bothering me this season. I feel as though it's doing a lot of moving and changing and we're missing a lot of the performance. Eh, what do I know?

GRRRRR!!!! the dvd recorder bombed out mid way thru the show last night.

I was really disappointed in Suzie and Marquis' performance and was in agreement in their dismissal.

I love Chelsie & Mark's dance tonight. The expressions on their faces with the way they danced...awesome. Katee and Joshua....once again...they're great. They've been pretty much consistent from the beggining. I screamed like Mary when Joshua started dancing-- 'just never expected him to sway like that. Courtney and Gev were good too and you can almost tell that Gev is so smitten with Courtney. They could be a cute couple in real life.
And Twitch, I mentioned he was in Hairspray and Adam directed and choreographed the movie so Twitch worked with Adam before.
Will and Jessica-- I'm not sure why there's too much love from the judges with them two. It seems like the judges are so impress with Will (he used to be with Debbie Allen, I guess) but I don't see that much greatness on him

Joshua and Katee
Chelsie and Mark (oh my, Chelsie brought tears to my eyes)
Twitch and Kherington
Courtney and Gev
Kourtni and Matt
Will and Jessica
Comfort and Chris
Chelsea and Thayne

Loved, loved, loved Joshua and Katee (man he can move, and those two are amazing together).
Absolutely loved Chelsie and Marks routine. I haven't been that fond of Tabitha and Napoleon (I find their style more "pop" than "hip hop") but I loved last night's routine. I think that should be counted as one of the best routines done on the show, what emotion.

I do agree that Courtney and Gev would be such a cute couple in real life. I also wonder if Joshua and Katee have that spark there as well, they look like they could.

I'm thinking that either Comfort and Chris will go home or Chelsea and Thayne (which is too bad because they were amazing that first week.)

I'm actually pulling for a mixed offing this week. I think Comfort's great, but she's proving to be a bit one dimensional. Thayne can do a solo beautifully, but he just doesn't partner very well.

Mark and Chelsea H. are definitely pulling ahead as my faves. Twitch and Joshua have blown me away with the range they are showing.

DH told me last week that Gev's got a serious thing for Courtney. He said he could tell by the way Gev looks at her.

Did anyone notice that in the Hip-hop routine to "Bleeding Love," Mark looked an aweful lot like David Tennet in the current "Dr. Who?"

Tried to find a pic of that dance but was not successful.

Totally agreed with Chris and Chelsea being eliminated.

I expected Cris to go with Comfort not with Chelsea.
'great to see Dominic and Houk danced last night but I'm trying to remember who Ryan was.

I was surprised to see Chelsea leave last night. I was debating whether it would be Comfort or Kourtni. Never really thought Chelsea was in danger. I really think she would have done better with a different partner and some better routines. It will be interesting to see how Comfort and Thayne interact.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the group number last night. Mia is a GENIUS! Must. Find. Video. Speaking of which, why can't Fox post videos of the dances? It's so annoying!

Mark Kanemura is awesome. That is all. hehe

We loved his Bohemian Rhapsody solo, we were laughing SO HARD. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7gqTS4nSjQ if you missed it)

I was really impressed by the hip hop routine. They did a truly beautiful job. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCOjRo2q9jE if you missed that, there's the usual pre-dance stuff about the two of them first)

Twitch is also pretty awesome. ;)

It's a bit grainy though. All of them are, I think the video capture software wasn't sure what to make of all the black and white and dark and light parts.

I love Twitch and Kerrington's Mia dance routine. Mia has that artistic mind and she's just brilliant. Joshua and Katee are, once again, awesome. Chelsea and Mark were also great. I'm ready for Jessica to go. With the guys, not sure-- maybe Matt or even Thayne (and I like Thayne). I think Will is still overrated. He will be in the bottom 3 week after week after week but the judges will save him because of Debbie Allen.

Joshua and Katee
Mark and Chelsea
Twitch and Kherington
Courtney and Gev
Will and Jessica
Comfort and Thayne
Kourtni and Matt

I was a little off. I hestitate to put Will and Jessica in bottom three. He doesn't deserve to be there (and would be saved every time) but she is just not going to be able to match his dancing. Their first number showed it and I actually agreed with Napoleon that she is holding him down.

They remind me of when I was in figure skating and we tried our dances. We were always partnered with coaches or more experienced skaters and we always paled in comparison to them. That's what Will and Jessica remind me of - that he is partnering a younger or more inexperienced dancer.

I thought it commendable the way Will defended Jessica to the judges. He seems like a delightful young man.

I couldn't pick a winner. They are all so cute! Just adorable and dancing as if their lives depended on it. I love their enthusiasm, their striving to do better and their strength.

Hugs and kisses my little dancers. You are sweet!

I hope Comfort and Thayne are gone after tonight. I agree that Thayne's a wonderful dancer, but he has NO connection when partnering. Emotionally, he's just no there. I think that's why I like Mark so much. He's got amazing passion when he's up there performing.

Well, if they leave tonight, then Jessica leaves next week, it's going to be very hard for me to see any of the rest of them leave!

quote:

Personally, I thought Will was very wishy-washy in his "defense" of her. He was specifically asked if he was tired of carrying her and his response was that he was proud of how hard she tried that night. Her whole demeanor towards him changed subtley after he said that. I think she was hurt that he didn't say "I'm not carrying her!"

I think it was absolutely wrong of Mia Michaels to put that on Will in front of everyone. Even if he feels that way, she shouldn't have put him on the spot like that. If he does feel like he's carrying it, he's doing his best to not show that on television and make the best of the situation.

Loved the Bollywood routine. I watched a lot of bollywood movies growing up and I thought it was comparable and amazing for learning it in a week. Joshua and Katee are incredible, and I'm glad they are the ones that got that routine.

My nephew had an interesting comment on the show last night. He is a krumper, and he pointed out that it's not a dance routine that you can choreograph. Having seen video of him and his friends, and then watching it on this show, there is such a difference. It feels like the true essence of krumping doesn't really come through on the show. And poor Kherington, totally gave up towards the end, it looked like it was too hard for her to keep up the intensity needed.

I think it will probably be Comfort and Thayne going home. I agree that Thayne isn't very good at partnering. Comfort is a great dancer but I think her lack of training is showing through as compared to other's on the show. Although, if Jessica and Will are in the bottom three, I'm sure Mia will fight to keep Comfort on the show and send Jessica home.

True! Can't say I'll be sad to see any of the three of them go.

Do they start mixing up the partners next week? It will be really interesting to see how they do when the current partnerships are broken up.

The judges seems to be pushing Will more than any of the dancers. Like I mentioned before, he will be in the bottom 3 every week and the judges will save him because of Debbie Allen. Will is a great dancer but, personally, I don't think he has connected himself with the viewers the way Twitch, Joshua and Mark or maybe even Thayne.
