Great pictures, Erin. Very cute

Good to see you again, Scarlett, and glad to hear that everything is going well. 8 weeks isn't long at all! Thanks for the congrats on the boy.

My mom and I are going to register next week. I know it's pretty early, but I wanted to get it done before school starts back up. I think my mom is as excited about all of this as I am, so it will be fun to register with her. Besides, she's had 7 kids and the youngest is only 11, so she should know a lot more about this stuff than I do

I have 2 weeks left in summer vacation before I have to go back to work. I'm not happy about this situation and I'm not having a very good attitude about it

Thanks Yacha !

Anyone else feeling beyond exhaustion now that they're in the 3rd trimester? I think I've really just started to notice it lately, of course maybe it has to do with the summer heat and all but most days I just feel pooped and that's just with doing regular household stuff as I'm no longer working! Makes me feel so lazy, like I haven't even really done anything today and yet I feel the need to take brief cat naps all the time .

Scarlett, you are so cute pregnant.

Amy - I registered a week ago which is just as early as you. My mom throwing me a shower while she is visiting from Florida at the end of August. Although the time is early, I am grateful she offered to throw it. For you, it makes sense to get it out of the way before school starts. Having your mom along will be helpful.

Yes!!!! Throw a 2 year old into the mix, and by 6pm I'm ready to crawl to bed.

Is anyone else experiencing dizziness where you feel like your vision blacks out for a moment?

I'll see your two year old, and raise you a 17 month old, 5 year old, and 7 year old!

And yes, I get that dizziness ... but with me it is easily attributable to not having enough to drink during the day (dehydration) or going too long between meals. I had quite a bad, nauseating dizzy spell on Friday morning ... I was booked for the very first chiropractic appointment of the day, and woke up late ... so I dashed out to my appointment without putting anything in my stomach -- chiro hit a certain spot and I got hot, queasy and beyond dizzy. Learned my lesson there -- never go for treatment without eating first!

Does having 18, 16, 12, 10 and 6 year olds with a husband that works away from home during the week count?

I was going to post this question anyway...

There are times when this young 'un drives me to lie down and sleep (like I could almost fall asleep standing up feeling?)...

Is that normal?

OKay here we go, humor me for being a worrier. I started having really bad lower back pain over the weekend. Just a little here and there. Last night it was so bad it kept me up. This morning I have been having the back pain, along with the back pain I have been having a kind of stabbing, achey pain come around to my lower abdomen about every ten minutes this morning. So...is this normal? And is yes, is there anything I can do to make it better?

Erin, are you staying plenty hydrated? It's hard to say . . . . there are a LOT of aches and pains associated with pregnancy, most are completely normal, but if you're worried I'd call your doc and describe your pains to them and see what they suggest. You could be having BH contractions and baby is such a position that it's putting pressure on your lower back. Stabbing pains can be ligaments being stretched. I had terrible stabbing pains in my lower abdomen (took my breath away, had to stop moving when they struck, kind of like a belly or pelvic charlie-horse) with both my pregnancies. Mostly after the 6 month mark, when my belly started getting bigger/heavier.

I found what helped is a maternity belt. I got mine at Wal-Mart for $10. It it elastic with velcro, you put it around your hips snugly and it supports your belly. That's the only way I could walk without pain at the end of my pregnancies.

Drink some water, keep your feet up, call your doc if your pain persists.

As well as possible with 100+ temps.

My friend gave me a maternity belt but I dont know if its the wrong size or what, but its very uncomfortable.

Not much I can do as far as putting my feet up, but I'll keep some water here at my desk. I go to the dr on Wednesday and I'll be at L&D tonight for childbirth class. Ugh...I guess its one of those normal pregnancy pains, I think I have crossed the threshold to the uncomfortable ready to get on with this phase.

if pains are coming at regular timed intervals, then it's cont'x probably. If you can, change what you are doing...and drink more water. (by change what you are doing, I mean if you are walking then sit down...if you are sitting try standing or laying down...etc). Like Rachel said it could be the position of the baby too...try getting on your knees on the floor (if you can at work) then put your head down to the floor and do pelvic rocks...this should encourage baby to get to a better position.

Yeah, it was the regular intervals that made me nervous. Trying to not jump to conclusions and be a worrier though. They have seemed to have let up a little, still happening but not quiet as often.

I think Braxton Hicks contractions can be painful at times as well.... Just try to relax through them, they can be an uncomfortable tightness

Erin- glad to hear things are a little better today, at least. And good job with staying hydrated. Still not one of my strong points, but I'm doing better! I'm inside in the AC here today because it's in the 90's...can't imagine the 100's! Keep us posted on how your class goes tonight.

I guess the point of my question is that should I just go ahead and lie down when that happens, should I push through it?

Could I be anemic?

I have never been like this, but also, I have never been this old and preggers :)

Well, what I do...
What I do depends on what's going on. If I'm at work, I don't have a choice, I have to push through. If I'm at home and have the time, I lay down.

If you do take a nap, do you feel better? Or are you constantly all the time tired (more so than normally at this stage in pregnancy?) It very well could be age related. Are you dizzy or light-headed feeling? If you do feel better after a nap and you're not otherwise feeilng unwell, I would say it's probably nothing to be worried about. Take a nap and enjoy it!

I generally feel better afterward and since I am home right now.... I lie down most of the time... but it seems to happen a good bit and the house is a mess.... so I guess I feel guilty at times.....

I have short bursts of energy, no dizziness.... just its like the baby takes control and says," MOM NAP NOW!!!"

You could be anemic, it never hurts to get that checked. I was anemic during pregnancy I couldn't even walk across the building at work without feeling like I was going to pass out. I passed if off as pregnancy for a couple weeks then got tired of it and finally got my Iron checked...

I have been getting BH contrax more and more. They don't hurt, they aren't regular, I mean to say, I have maybe at the most 1 an hour. I know I am hydrated. Is this a problem? Sometimes I wonder if it is a contrax or just baby pushing out. Sometimes I know they are. Can they happen if you are more tired?

Sounds like you better listen to the baby!!! If it's happening a lot, it might not be a bad idea to get it checked. When is your next doctor's appointment? I hear you on the guilt...I'm trying really hard to get stuff done now, especially since the first 20 weeks I was pretty much useless!

Scarlett- Forgot to say before...I love the pics!

Kathryn- I really have no idea on the BH. Hopefully someone with more wisdom will give you an answer.

Regarding Braxton Hicks, I don't think I've ever felt any not unless of course they're happening and I don't know it which I've actually read could be the case. I think that my stomach feels really hard a lot of the time, I then exclaim to my husband or anyone else that will listen that I have "rock hard abs" for the first time ever in my life, though really I have to attribute it more to my baby's bottom sticking out than to anything else .

Thanks for all the recent comments on my photos, you all are making me blush .
