Hi All!

Well today is a milestone day.
My twins who are 14 are going to their first dance. M's interest wanted to take her, but he has football practice. C's interest is either too afraid to ask her, or does not want too, she is not sure which.

Me, I'm glad neither got asked. (Is that weird?) Cuz, would that be considered a date? Would I have had to say no, you can only go with a group of girl friends,(which is what they are doing now) and then just see them at the dance? I have told them that they cannot date until further notice, because I really have no clue how I am going to deal with it. My Hubby was a no dating ever kinda Dad. I am trying to figure out if I went along with it because I believed the same way, or just... because.

Anyway, they are so excited they cannot talk about anything else. I love to see them so happy.

I hope you all are having a blessed day!

WFB

I loved the getting ready over at my best friends house, then afterwards staying up late to gab about it. In fact I still do that...lol

Well, the twins had a blast at their school dance.

I am feeling very humbled and very blessed because every time something special happened at the dance they texted ME, the Mom. I am so glad they still want to share things with me. (sniff)

Okay, goodnight ya'll!!

That is SO cool. Was it the most fun ever to hear all about everything when they got home?

It was so cute. It was hard to translate, cuz they were so excited, and twins talk at the same time and expect you to be able to sort it all out on your own. My niece, who is the same age as them, will be staying the night tonight, so I get to hear it all over again, but will lots of giggles and whispers in between.

MUCH better today, Nadine; thanks!

I've been spending the majority of my day shredding old paperwork.

LOL!!!

*****Complaint Alert*****

No it's not about the fact that there are no available Godly men in my area, that I would be even remotely interested in.

Or that gas is so expensive and my new car so bad as far as gas milage goes that I had to increase my monthly gas budget by 150.00.

Nope, my complaint is that my daughter who is in third grade gets these Scolastic Book Club flyers and of course she wants some thing, which is great, but she is required to read at her reading level at school, for points, and there are no books in the flyer at her reading level. The highest level in the flyer is 4.5 and she reads at a 6.0. So, she either gets nothing or we get one of the non-book items in the flyer. This time it is between the learn to play the recorder book w/recorder, or cutsy pink stationary. I'm hoping she will go with the stationary. Last time she got something with little plastic horses and before that it was a diary. I really would like it if she could just get a book!!!! /rant

Can't you just go ahead and get her whatever book she wants, Nadine? Even if she doesn't get reading credit for it? I'd sooner buy a book than a recorder.

For more than one reason, too.

I have done that. We just have sooooo many books that are below, or above her level, and very few at her level. The other problem is this, they have to get a certain number of points by the end of each quarter. The number of points is determined by their reading level. The kids in her class that read at grade level, have to earn 10 points those a little above 15 (very few kids in the catigory) and my daughter has to earn 20. That is very hard to do if you read too many other books (purely for pleasure) in between. Sad but true. Really, the maturity level should be taken into consideration. I have found very few books at a 6.0 level that are appropriate for a 9 yr old.

I'm sure that is a problem. The content being too mature. Seems a little like school is punishing her for being a good reader. Not intentionally but it'd be simpler for her if she read at grade level. Makes you question their methods, doesn't it?

Well, I hope she picks the stationery but it's too bad there aren't more books for her level or an adjustment made so that she could get her points at school.
