Nicole thats what I was meaning or what I think, if that person has died and they didn't repent then I don't think they would get to heaven. Yes, we don't know what that person does in their final moment, but we are saying for those that even in the final moment who don't turn back would. There would be some who even at the last breath would deny God. We do not know, but God knows.

Kind of jumping into the middle of the conversation here, we were without power for several days due to Hurricane Ike.

I am going to use a shadow example again (everything in the OT is a shadow of what is to come), but David is a good example of "losing your salvation". He, a child of God, had committed the most heinous of crimes against others - adultery, murder - yet once he repented of those things the slate was wiped clean. It took Nathan the prophet pointing out that David had sin in his life to get him to repent, it's not something he realized on his own. And God called David a man after his own heart. So I think David is a good example of "falling from grace" and still being redeemed.

Also, the entire history of Israel is an example. Not only did they reject God time and time again in OT times, they rejected that Jesus was the Messiah and that is a stance they (as a whole) hold to this day. Yet the Bible says that the Jews will be redeemed. I don't think we can get a clearer example than that.

I have recently come up with a theory about the passage in Hebrews, but it "sounds" pretty out there, and I haven't been able to do enough studying to really back it up yet.

I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on that Hebrews passage!

The story of David is a beautiful example of the depths of God's love and grace. To be called a man after God's own heart after all that is awe inspiring.

We're at 100 pages now... Jeanie's not around. Should I start a new Kicka? Or does a mod want to do it?

I did say " I didn't know what it meant if you repent".

I guess that was the part I was responding to. It hit me pretty hard to think that someone might think I wasn't going to heaven. Sorry! Hey, it was a great excuse to share my testimony though

Right now I'm praying hard, hard, hard for DH in this regard. He and I have followed a very similar path in life. We were both professed agnostics when we married. Right now he's seeking the Lord. He's professed a strong desire to believe, but can't seem to let go of his logical side long enough to do it. We're attending a seeker focused study together and he's come to church with me the last couple of weeks (ever since our son was baptized). I'd love it if y'all could join me in lifting Will up to the Lord! I can't tell you what it would mean to me to have him take his rightful place as spiritual head of our family!

Kat- I'm praying for your hubby! My DH had a hard time letting go of his logical side to believe too. I think he said the book The Case for Christ really helped sort things out for him. The seeker focused study sounds great too.

Do all babies go to heaven? What about babies born to non-believing families? If a baby/child dies without ever officially accepting Christ, what is the "cutoff age" where they're still going to go to heaven.
One of the kiddos that I work with passed away on Monday. I found out yesterday- I'm still processing. She was very medically involved and wasn't originally expected to live past 6 months (she was 2.5 y/o). Please pray for her family.

I think we had this convo before about babies/children and Heaven, but I believe that babies/children are covered under God's grace until they reach the age of accountability. I don't think there is a set "cutoff age". I think it is different with each person. I accepted Jesus at the age of 6. I have a brother who accepted at 8. I've known others who've accepted at 10 or 12. I think it's about when the Holy Spirit starts dealing with a child and they recognize it.

There's an interesting thread on that in... Salvation Issues I think.
