BTW Lexie ~ when you look at the athletics medal table for the Olympics ~ guess which country are at the top ~ here's some hints ~ it ain't Holland, the US, Russia, China, Canada or GB!

It does grate on me how some people from other countries can only complain about the British in one way or another. I'm all for a bit of fun and winding people up, but constant complaining is just plain rude ~ especially when it's not based on fact. Don't know if anyone heard the comment from some French guy a couple of years back (in the run up to who won the bid for the 2012 Olympics) ~ which was that the British couldn't cook. There are many countries who have been turning to the British chefs for a number of years because of the standard they have ~ and that's not saying that no other country has a chef that can cook, just that we too have some brilliant ones.

I thought the Brits were experts on everything since they all come on our shows over here as experts. LOL!

don't you mean the heat? I never complain about the cold, cause it doesn't really get that cold here - we have one week of winter and that's usually in late January.

No, the cold. I was in Florida one year at Christmas and it was in the high 50's, low 60's during the days. People were bundled up like the next ice age was coming. On the news they were telling people how to protect their plants from frost, it honestly seemed like the world was ending depending on what channel you watched. Everywhere we went people were complaining it was so cold.....and I was in shorts and a t-shirt. I had just come from -30 and a foot of snow. I could only laugh when I hear the complaints of the cold.

But I do know it's all relative and it's cold to those people. You just would love to transplant them to where you are from and watch them struggle to survive

I have decided to never complain that it's too hot during the summer, because come winter all I will be doing is complaining that it's too cold.

LOL! That happened to me too! I ws in FL in February a few years ago and it was in the 50's and the reporter on the late news had on an overcoat and leather gloves!

As for heat - - my thought is - - - no matter where you are - - - when it's over 90 it doesn't matter what the thermometer reads - - - it's just HOT!!!!

I went to GA (Atlanta) in May '98 and I was walking around in sweaters because I was seriously cold ~ everyone else was in t-shirts!

LOL! Other nations are obviously willing to accept our knowledge but reluctant to acknowledge our skills!

Oh that's a standing joke with the French - they like to try and take the rise out of us whenever they can. I lived in Paris for 3 months when I was a student, and, believe me, I heard it all then.

Can't help it - love the French to bits.

Aga you do have some great cooks over there!! We used to get this cooking show on tv which had all different chefs around the world and quite a few were British and they were awesome!

I know!!! They are kicking some serious behind!...and there are still the relays to come!

I was reading an article that said every medal Jamaica has ever won at the summer Olympics has been in athletics....except for one in cycling, a bronze. That's pretty interesting. Jamaica also has someone in equestrian (I guess they didn't do well) but she grew up in Canada, so she must have Jamaican parents and wasn't able to make the Canadian team!

Jamie Oliver has been teaching me how to cook things from scratch.

I just love watching Gordon Ramsay tell people off Although for some reason I don't find the American version of Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares as exciting (I honestly think it could be the narrator).

Yes, but his mummy should have washed his mouth out with soap and water more I think.

Is there a narrator? I thought it was all Ramsey.

Well we both lost out in the woman's relay ~ but then the US went out yesterday!

There's a narrator for the us version. I don't get the BBC channel so I can't watch the original version.

Oh yeah we copy a lot of british television too!

There's some American guy narrating Kitchen Nightmares with some differet camera and lighting effects. You can tell just by the camera which version you are watching in the first few seconds.

I can't believe what just happened in the Women's relay! I didn't get a call from Dh at work so he may have missed it (he works with a lot of Jamaicans so I would hate to be at his workplace right now if they did catch it.)

Miss Giggles - I watch Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares (the British one) on our Food Network here...do you think yours might show it? I know our Canadian channels show a lot more British programming than yours do, but maybe it's there.

according to one member of the track and field team, its because "someone used a voodoo doll or something" not that they could have possibly made a mistake

Our food network shows Rachel Ray, Paula Deen, Rachel Ray, Paula Deen, repeat.. oh once in a while they show Bobby Flay ..

if they do its not during primetime.

They're showing it in slow motion so we can see the race!

I can get both the British version and the US version of KN. I guess I don't see the US version often enough to recall the narrator.

Which relay?

4x100m the Jamaicans and Brits both messed up the exchange in the women's race and I think another country but I'm not sure who. I think they were all pretty gutted ~ understandably so! Just heard there's a talk of an appeal on that.

I did hear that the US were going to be having a post mortom to find out what went wrong on the track at these games.

JAMAICA

Wow...what an amazing race. I am so happy for Asafa Powell, that he was anchoring this race. He is an amazing sprinter, and has never had good luck in major competitions like this. Good for him!!!

I told Akeelah before the race she needs to watch it because all of her is in it! Half of her came first...and half of her came last!!!!

Here's what will be said...."you're not the fastest in the world anymore."

I'm just joking...the Americans have some very fast sprinters, and it was a shock that they had trouble qualifying. But they still would have lost to Jamaica

I hope it's her legs that are the half that came first ~ maybe we'll see her at an Olympics one day!

I see Australia have just won their first track and field event ~ better late than never Congratulations.

The nbc reporters said that they really didn't practice together that much. Gee that might help, ya think?

All this child does is run! Never walks (she's 20 months btw for those who didn't know). We may actually see her running one day (hmm...I wonder which country she'll choose to run for )

Yeah but most teams don't practice much together either. CBC showed the Canadian team training together right before the Olympics learning how to do hand offs (and they weren't doing that well!) Same with Jamaica, Bolt wasn't even in the relay qualifiers, they just put him in for the finals. Same with the women - one woman trains in the US, the rest in Jamaica, so they don't get much practice time. I honestly think it's hit or miss....literally.

Oddly enough, one of the British women said it was hit or miss with relay. And Johnson said (of the men's relay) that the Jamacian exchanges were 'safe' and the time came from the feet ~ so they could have done better!
