My mom was a SAHM and watched All My Children every single day. One day we were watching a special episode where they looked at old story lines. One of them was from 1984 and I remembered that story line! What makes it so funny, is I was born in 1981.

Lexie- here's sad for ya- when Kendall came on the show, they tried to claim that Erica was 14 when she was raped and gave birth to Kendall and that Kendall was a 14 year old when she was reunited with Erica. That would've made Erica 28. I was 28 at that time. I had been watching the show since I was 11 or so. I knew there was no way that Susan Lucci was 28! When I had started watching the show some 16 years earlier, Erica was married to Tom and she was already in her 20s. lol!

I don't know how old Susan Lucci is, but I know that she is older than I am and I'm 43. A few weeks ago I was visiting someone who had it on, I did notice that Lucci doesn't get that many close-ups any more.

Susan Lucci is in her 50's. They should be doing close ups for her, she's had enough work done to warrant it!

Yup- she probably has paid a lot of money to keep those looks. Is it just the American culture that has such a problem with aging that many of them will do everything they can to stay looking young?

just as an fyi...they're doing a marathon of Mork & Mindy on Sci-fi...I remember when the first show premiered, I was pregnant with my daughter and it made me howl with laughter. Not sure it will do that now, but I wanna find out.

I think they used live audience, but added canned laughter as well...

I dunno if the show was aired anywhere else, but in 1979 it was hysterical.

I watched a hysterical interview with Robin Williams the other night and he talked about Mork and Mindy.

Do you watch Survivors? I've seen the first 2 episodes, not sure I'll watch them all though...

I can't believe Spooks is nearly over for this series. I've been watching on BBC1 and then BBC3 but they're not doing that with the last episode! It's so not fair![;)]

I did some checking and it was Graham Norton... I don't watch him very often and only caught that programme by chance, which is why I couldn't remember who presented it.

I have to say that all the trailers left me cold. In my experience, the more they "big up" a programme, the more rubbish it is likely to be. So I didn't make watching it a priority, and am now glad I didn't (from the reviews).

I do think the short series length of programmes like Spooks and Dr Who help keep the freshness. I know you don't get C5, but watching some of the CSI programmes, which are 20+ episodes/series makes them seem very tired.

When I first started watching some British shows I was very surprised at how short some of the series were. But I agree with you about freshness. I find a lot of shows here have such long seasons that they are drawing out storylines and just sticking in filler.

Do they show more than one series in a year over there?

In my experience, it's just one series a year for the vast majority of programmes, if not all.

I was watching Just For Laughs the other night and there was a British comedian named Simon Evans on (I'm not sure if he's actually famous over there.)

The guy made me laugh so hard though. He said "you're probably wondering what my accent is, well I'll tell you, it's 'educated'."

Then he went on to talk about how people say if it weren't for the Americans in WW2 the British would be speaking German right now. He said that's not true because he's heard the British peoples capacity for foreign language.

Then he said, besides if it were true, wouldn't we now be speaking English louder and slower?

(I'm sure it was much funnier when he said it on tv, rather than my writing it out here.)
