I have been trying to think of things to do at a reception like maybe some fun games, or something different... Right now trying to figure out how many is going to come.... if its a small amount may just have a nice dinner or if its a large amount may have alot finger foods, games and such... which im thinking its going to be a larger amount...but we may change that not sure about it yet. I have been thinking about having an outdoor reception and near the end of reception have everyone write something on a their own heart balloon and then we all let them go at same time. I have a lot to think about...lol but im getting ideas.

I think for flowers I'm going to pick colors that come out of the stained glass in the beautiful sanctuary!! It's going to be LOVELY. What are you ladies doing?? I know my dress is awesome. But I think I'm having second-thought dress regrets. I don't know. I've heard everyone has a little panic time if it's been a while since they had it on. I know I LOVED IT in the store. The price was really good (for a designer store dress -- $640!) and it fits me perfectly off the rack. I think I just need to see it. It will probably feel just fine when it comes in and I put it on.

I find myself leaning towards the smaller size I would like a nice sit down dinner...with close people...But at same time I have alot people from church I want to come.... and I hate to have a big church wedding and small reception... so we need to just really sit down and think about the people... plus the cost what would be best for us.

It's been quiet lately. Well the cake tasting and consultation is done! It was a lot of fun and we should be getting a design sent to us in about a few weeks. DF was so funny. He really enjoyed it and got all possessive over the samples. lol! But here is the website for the cake place Our cake will sort of be like cake #60, except it will be cherry blossom flowers instead. The branches will be piped but the flowers will be sugar. And instead of dragonflies we will have butterflies. Brown branches, pink flowers, a very light pink fondit. Just need to vent a little...None of DF's brothers are able to make it to the wedding so we asked my uncle if he could be best man. He accepted. I e-mailed him to ask for his address and he replied by adding that he doesn't do tux or even suit. He's a joking kind of guy so I thought he was joking and joked back with him. Well to my surprise, he wasn't and proceeded to send me a rather childish e-mail about not wanting to wear a tux. He then proceeded to say things like, "Why this and why that. Our wedding was so and so and our marriage turned out fine, yadda, yadda, yadda..." I was shocked and confused. I responded in a firm, yet gentle way, expressing how disappointed I was because it gave me the impression that it was all about him and not us. I am experiencing a few disappointing things with my Aunt as well, who is Matron of Honor. Anyhoo... I find it so disappointing when family members become the least supportive people in your life. I would rather not have any wedding party at all than one that doesn't understand how special their roles are. The wedding is a very Holy time, coming before G-d to seek His favor in marriage. We decided to chose a family member to be in the party because choosing just one friend would have been difficult. But if I am going to have a wedding party at all, I would love it to be people who will actually understand their role and who would truly be there to support both DF and I. I don't want parties who will just show up, be in the pictures and help only when asked. kwim? Has anyone else out there experienced this? What did you do?

That stinks, Trishy. I say go with your heart and make the wedding the way you and John envision it. I've had one set of friend have their wedding party consist of matron of honor (her mom) and best man (his dad?). They didn't have any other attendants so as to not exclude anyone.

Well Trish, you are not going to please everyone. The best thing to do is what you and John want for YOUR day. I may even have a bit of a heart to heart with your aunt and uncle. Let them know what you are expecting of them and if they are not willing to comply joyfully, ask someone else. While your wedding day will be wonderful, you don't need the extra stress of not wanting to step on toes or have people complain about what you wanted them to wear.

((Trish!)) Your cake is going to be lovely, I have an idea of the company I want to use, Just not sure what I want the cake to look like.. Trish I am sorry that your aunt and uncle are being that way...I think you should set them down and have a talk with them... if they arent willing to be apart of what you want they I wouldnt worry about having them in the wedding party...The wedding is for you and John!! Nevaehs_gaze- ^_^ you will have to tell us when he proposes to you!

I am thinking about making my own invitations...my fh's dad could get them printed for us..and I could add little touches to them to make them nice... I dont know that may change...I have all kinds of little ideas in my mind...but who know how things will turn out...atm

Tall_geena I dont think flats will make much of differance either... yes the camera angles can help too but not sound rude or anything but why does this matter? Anyone who already knows them knows she is taller then him...I believe people will be looking past their height differences and focus on what is going on...the cermony! 2 people in love coming togther before God!! Trish that sounds wonderful!!!

ORIGINAL: Tall_geena daughter is getting married soon, and she is thin as a pole and a full 56 inches taller than hubbie to be. any ideas about how to minimize the height difference for the ceremony? 56 inches??? That is almost 4 feet. Is it really that big of a deal for him? If you are getting married and there are steps, she could stand one step down and that would take about 6 inches off. When I married my first husband, he is only an inch shorter than me. He wore his boots instead of the shoes they give you with your tux. They were nice boots, but he did tell me that if I chose to wear heels, he would not walk back down the isle with me. I should have known then my marriage was doomed. But anyway, I had already decided that because of the day and all that I was going to be doing, I wore ballet slippers. Then at the reception, I had a pair of brand new never before worn white isatoner(sp) slippers because they had that cushy feeling so my feet didn't feel as sore. It did keep my husband happy, and my feet were happy too. I think I would have died if I wore heels that day.

the 56 inches was a typo! I am so sorry..it was supposed to be 6 inches! anyways, since the wedding and reception will be at a relative's house, the husband will be wearing boots and my daughter will be competey barefoot throughout the whole day. i know it wont cure the problem completely, but hey, she is like me, she goes barefoot all the time..i always joked with her she was going to get married barefoot, and here she is...LOL
