ORIGINAL: WhiteRoseBlessings In the process, I think I picked up a boyfriend. . . . There's a hill near my house that I always have to walk my trike up . . . well, actually, there's a couple of hills near my house like that. This particular hill . . . there's an elderly man who, when he is sitting on his porch, will always yell out, "Hey! Did that thing run out of gas?!" as I'm walking my trike up the hill, past his house. Then, we always wave to each other. LOL Today, he was walking to his mailbox when I was walking my trike. heehee We stopped and talked for quite a while. He told me he wanted me to come into his house so he could show me his late wife's favorite room. Then he wanted me to listen to a song that someone had written for him and his wife after she had died. He's been a widower for about 6 years now. I could tell by listening to him that he loves her very much. Then, he decided that he wanted to give me some fresh tomatoes, then also a jar of green beans (that he canned himself), then some meat to cook with the beans. Then he also gave me an apple. LOL Then he showed me his turnip garden, and then took me on a tour of his garage where he keeps all kinds of interesting antique bottles and such. He gave me a grape Nehi bottle from 1925 and a tiny little glass perfume bottle with a glass stopper. And he wouldn't take no for an answer for anything he wanted to give me. Oh, and he also gave me a "rock" that has the word "Spirit" eteched in it with flowers painted on it. Then he wanted me to try out his porch swing that he said he bought from an Amish man. Pretty comfortable swing, at that. THEN, he said he had something else to give me, so he went inside his house and came out with a ziploc bag full of cut-up okra. He said something about not wanting me to go hungry. I asked him if it looked like I had gone hungry anytime recently. Very nice man. He keeps his yard and porches decorated so nicely, too. I told him that I always enjoy walking past his yard; it's so fun to look at. Now, I think I need a nap. He gave me so much stuff; that I had to go home and offload it before I could do my errands; so I ended walking that one hill twice; and then triked around in the traffic and walked around a bit while doing my errands . . . and now I'm just plum wore out. LOL That is the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time, SharMar!!! Gives me the giggles to think about it!

Pam, I hope you saw my "welcome back" that I posted for you a couple of page ago. Sorry, no. I just got back here (forums) yesterday, and I didn't try to catch up. Too huge a task! And much too busy! Good to see ya though! HERE's the link. Hope you're getting caught up; I imagine work is insane this week? Hey y'all cuties! It is HOT outside. I just got back from running a few errands. In the process, I think I picked up a boyfriend. . . . There's a hill near my house that I always have to walk my trike up . . . well, actually, there's a couple of hills near my house like that. LOL Poor Guy!!!! My heart goes out to him....he sounds sooo lonely. You left with a trike full, but he got the greater gift. The time you spent with him. I just love ya even more for doing it. {{{{{{SharMar}}}}}} {{{{{{Widower}}}}}}

What a sweet story Sharon-Marie! Yes, I was getting an ear inf too. just enough that it was bugging me but not enough that it actually started hurting. Went in for my diabetes checkup today too. Don't know what those results are yet.

LOL, Cranky :) Shar-Mar, the burritos turned out quite well, although next time I'll add more seasoning. The recipe is on my blog if you're interested, along with a couple of photos. What a sweet story about that gentleman, Shar-Mar!!! I'm sure you were even more of a blessing to him than he was to you :) Kath, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Morning, loonies! Shar-Mar, that really was wonderful of you; I know how that sort of thing feels, what with my retirement home ministry. It's sort of like trading blessings. I don't bless them anymore than they bless me. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Please forgive me that I don't always say hello to everyone by name. I'm crazy busy - but I'm taking a moment now. Hi Jeannie, Nadine, Kath, Beckey, Crankey, Phosy, Kimberley, Popsi, Lioness, and Wintery! Oh, and Crankey's trike-ministry idea only goes to show that God's work can be done by most any means!

It's a well known fact, put a cross on it and call it Christian and you can sell it. Some of the stuff that's in the book store I'm just plain embarrassed to see.

FEEL THE LIFT! PURCHASE YOUR HOLY TRIKE TODAY! . . You have writing in your blood, Cranky. Good Morning, y'all! As much as I would like to take credit for all of the wonderful things y'all have said about me since last I posted, I simply cannot . . . at least not for what happened yesterday. I didn't mean to paint a picture of a lonely elderly man. In fact, he frequently has company when I am walking past his house; it's one of the reasons why I hadn't stopped to talk before now . . . I didn't want to intrude on him and his guests. Frequently, there's a lot of laughter wafting from them. But it was fun that it worked out yesterday that he didn't have any company. He told me a lot about himself . . . he travels with a Southern Gospel quartet every weekend and mans their CD table during all the shows. He's been doing that for 4 years and has sold over 40,000 CDs. . . . He goes to visit his wife's grave about twice a week and he often takes her a fresh hanging potted flower plant. He gives the "old" ones to friends and such. . . . He was telling me about a woman friend that he was somewhat pursuing and about another woman friend who was pursuing him, but he stopped pursuing the first woman because he realized that he didn't want to get remarried. He told me a lot more about himself, as well. Very sweet and interesting man. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I'll take a look at your recipe, Kimberly . . . maybe I can pass it along to anyone who I think might be interested. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Some men from the Salvation Army thrift store are scheduled to come out to the house today to take away the stuff that I'm not keeping. I hope they come soon. The lady on the phone yesterday gave me a range between 8am - 4:30pm. It's not as if I have anywhere to go; it's the fact that I can't go until the men come and get the stuff. Isn't that silly?! LOL. I feel as if my wings have been clipped.
