Good Morning, y'all!

RE: Avatars

Bill, I'm sure you know that I have been having major avatar envy towards your beautiful photo.

Cranky, what is in your current avatar?
My guesses are:
- A fallen tree
- A VERY big canoe
- An even BIGGER carrot.

Is that a person on top of the tree / canoe / carrot?

.

Hi Cherish, how are you?

Tired. Had a long day.

I don't like cranberry juice. I don't like Dr Pepper either. Dr Pepper tastes like a cough mixture I used to have as a kid.

LOL

Christine, so far, in here and another thread, the various suppositions as to my avatar are:

- Bronco's fan
- Tennessee fan
- Welcoming autumn
- Representing Elastic after she's eaten a pumpkin pie and has smeared it all over her face
- A pumpkin, itself

I'm very amused now.

I didn't realize so many possibilities existed.

You could also be supporting the SF Giants (even though they aren't playing anymore), the Gateway High School Olympians (my high school). Maybe it's what you see after staring into the sun too long? Or a kitchen after making Thanksgiving? Or after feeding a toddler pumpkin pie? Maybe it's a close up of a changing leaf?

Yesterday at 3:00 my mom txted me and said, "will you show us around town and take us to a beach or something?" So I changed my evening plans (which were quiet, anyway) and took my parents into San Francisco and showed them Pier 39 and the Golden Gate Bridge. It was dark by the time we went to the bridge, but it was REALLY neat. I've never driven to the bridge to look at it before. I've taken the bus there, and I've driven ON the bridge, but I've never driven to the bridge to stop in the parking lot. And never done it from where I started either. It was an interesting experience. We drove through the Presidio and saw the old base housing. That was kind of neat. My dad had his GPS with him, so we had some sort of idea where we were going.

Then at 9:30 my BIL arrived. So we picked him up. He's staying with me. It was a late night. Tonight at 9:30 my sister arrives. It's going to be another late night.

You keep going, and you're going to be tuckered out come this Saturday.

Gold Gate Bridge . . . that's one of the things I'm excited about with my upcoming trip to SanFran.

Someone has told me that I also absolutely must go see the hospital where I was born. LOL

I'm already tuckered out. I am falling asleep at my desk today.

My parents and BIL are going to Alcatraz today. My parents don't like big cities and are very uncomfortable in them. So they won't do any of this stuff without someone with them to help them out. My BIL has been here a couple times, and is from NY, so he knows big cities and can maneuver his way around pretty good. I'm glad they are out and doing things. I'd hate for them to have come all this way and be here for 3 days and not see any of the city.

I want to sleep tomorrow on the way up the coast, but I've been told I can't cause i have to navigate. Hrmph. But it's a motorhome with a bed. And they have a GPS. They should be fine. I'll stay awake as long as I can.

What are your reasons for and not for seeing it?

If it helps ... it's more than just a prison. It has Native American history, and was also used in the Civil War.

But the prison is it's most famous use.

And Mike pointed out about a year ago, maybe 2 years, they wanted to turn it into a Native American Reserve somethingoranother that was just lame. Luckily that got turned down.

The only sane and sensible interpretation.

My guesses are:
- A fallen tree
- A VERY big canoe
- An even BIGGER carrot.

Is that a person on top of the tree / canoe / carrot?
.

It appears to me to be either:

- an airplane spreading some sort of chemical or

- an alien space ship disgorging the spores of a mutant virus that will turn us all into helpless slaves to do their bidding.

I'm leaning toward the second option.

Thanks, but all I did was take a picture of what God provided. I'll pass on the complement next time I talk to him.

It's kinda late, but my father is scheduled for surgery at 1 pm (EDT). Please say a prayer. Thanks.

I was going to ask about him earlier.

Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad I popped back in.

I will pray.

I had forgotten about those two things.

I really don't have any "for" reasons, and my "not" reasons are mainly out of disinterest and because of the more-famous history behind it.

However, the Native American and Civil War historical aspect does intrigue me somewhat.

Why would turning it into an Native American reservation be considered lame?

It wouldn't have been a reservation. I can't remember the details, but they wanted to buy the land from the gov't and make it into a Peace Park or something with native american influence. Trying to get it back to it's original roots. But it would've had several different new-agey influences that would really make it creepy to visit.

And it takes away a huge piece of history. Even the Native American aspect of it wouldn't have been accurately depicted.

Hey John!

Hey Terri!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Just in case anyone was wondering . . . my new favorite hot drink is black-cherry herb tea brewed in a mixture of unsweetenedd cranberry juice and water.

I'm also going to try peach herb tea brewed in the same manner.

I think, however, that I'll forgo experimenting with the combination of peppermint herb tea and cranberry juice.
