Anybody a carpenter?
I gotta rebuild my carport this weekend, could use some tips or tricks.

I learned a long time ago that when ever I try to do a project on my own... it takes 10 times as long! Therefore, when ever I need any work done, I call on my regular guys who work for me. Tis better to pay someone who does carpentry everyday for a living than me trying to remember how to do things I haven't personally done in over 8 years. Being a builder is really all about managing the calender and baby sitting subs all day.

Maybe, but we need the rain... even if it comes with a little wind. The good thing is we aren't on the coast, so a few weak tornadoes are the only risk. And with how I built our house, it can take a direct hit from an F3 and just need a new roof and some touch up painting.

Looks like it's still headed for the Big Easy. I'll bet they're the Big Uneasy right about now.

Where's my Tesla Roadster? I want freedom from gasoline.

PRAY for those in the path of Gustov. It looks like they are taking this one a lot more seriously this time.

The evacuation seemed to go much better this time. I think they learned their lesson about staying behind. Let's just hope the levies hold and there isn't too much disruption the the oil industry.

They really should go back to naming them all females. After all, it is a HERicane. There's a lot of hot air. They leave a path of destruction that takes years to rebuild after they leave, often taking your house. And they're extremely unpredictable.

You are right! There's no such thing as a HIMicane.

Interesting coincidence about Hericanes and divorces in the south... either way, some poor redneck is gonna lose their mobile home.

I just had to laugh at that -- when I was a young (underpaid) airman we lived in a couple of trailer homes and went through one HERicane while living in one. We made it without damage other than debris all over. The thick pine trees in our area near Fort Walton Beach provided some providential protection for us.

Glad to hear that. Tornadoes seem to have an affinity for mobile homes too.

I know what you mean KL. If you've ever been through a bad storm in a MH, you will never want to get caught off guard in one again!

BTW, I heard the Governor's mansion in Alabama burned down this weekend, right down to the axles...

Yep, we need some more rain too. Hope it doesn't all come at once.
