Have no idea! supposed to meet once or twice a week and do group runs! supposed to be all abilities but I am not sure. Some of these runners are extremely competitive

Our gym used to have running groups, but I was afraid to check them out. Now that I'm interested, they don't have them anymore. We had one for advanced runners and one for all abilities. You'll have to let us know how it goes.

I used to run with a group. It was a fun way to train for a marathon. Now, though, the group has gotten too big, plus due to work I can't make it most of the time.

There are several other running groups around town. One meets at a local running store. Another is an informal group that meets at a park. Basically, if you want to run with a group, look! Ask at running stores. They are out there!

No running today. It was a swim day. Tomorrow I'll do somewhere around 5miles on the track. Trying to baby this injury as much as I can.

93 pounds???? That's incredible! I think I speak for all of us when I say we are proud of you!

I agree! That is AWESOME Duane!

-----------

And I would pay to see someone wear those running tights...

----------

I ran 3 miles today. I'm also not feeling the best. I think it's a combination of dinner last night and having not taken my allergy meds...

Have you guys been following the coverage of the Berlin marathon? If not, Haile Gebrselassie set a world record. I cannot imagine running that fast, that far!

Ugh. I've been dragging all day. Apparently I still need to take my allergy meds... I did one mile of alternating jogs/sprints and that was enough for me.

My running has been totally derailed. I was home sick today with stomach problems and it's kind of coming in waves...I don't feel all that much better. I'll have to go to work at some point tomorrow, but probably not for the whole day. So I didn't run today, I won't run tomorrow because of other obligations and Saturday will be difficult, too. <sigh>

I hate stomach/digestive issues and running doesn't always help them. In fact it may make them worse.

I sprinted! Well kinda cause its still a slow pace. So I did run/walks today for a half an hour. My left ankle still aches a teeny bit so I will wait a day or two or run on the treadmill til it goes away.

Whew! I'm feeling good! I just ran 4 miles again and got a good time (38:20). I had a hard time in the middle of the run but was able to keep going and by the end, I felt good.

I'm still nursing my stomach problems, although I am feeling better, so that's good. I think I've convinced (bullied?) my husband into doing a 5K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving. Don't think I didn't play the Drifter card on him.

Anyway, if I continue to feel better today, I will attempt a four-mile run tomorrow...this time in under an hour.

Don't push yourself too hard to fast (speaking as someone who always pushes herself too hard and too fast ).

That's great to hear about your hubby! I may have to discover what your tactics were. I'm trying to get my parents to do some of these runs (I wouldn't expect them to run, but I know they would enjoy the walk and it would be good for them ).

Today was my last long run. 12miles. It went pretty well, and I'm quite happy with my numbers.

Yesterday I was feeling quite sick, combo of allergies and a cold coming on. I ate a bunch of fresh pineapple, thinking the vitamin C would help. It did, as I'm feelign much better today. However, all the pineapple did not do good things to my gut. Luckily, there were port-a-johns along my route.

I didn't get to run today. We've had a steady, moderately heavy rain all day long, so all the streets are flooded. Too much water to have a pleasant in-the-rain run.

I think we'd better keep an eye on those two, or they're liable to conspire to sneak off the race route and head to IHOP or something.

We tried out the indoor, rubberized track at our gym tonight... AND upped the running/walking ratio as per week 2 of our training program.

Seeing as how I'm "running" (a term used loosely at best) around .3 mph, my suggestion is that you join Norma's pace and see how fast you can run it. I'll meet you at the end.

For anyone attempting to follow along...me, my husband, p31woman and highplainsdrifter are all running the same Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day. The husbands are being dragged along against their will.

Nice try. Nope, my running mentor didn't off and leave me during my first 5k (and she was a seasoned half-marathoner), and I ain't leavin' you neither. Besides, stellaluna's a hare... and I'm a turtle.

Oh, no no no. This was HPD's very own idea last year. Granted, he was an engaged man in love, so his thinking may have been clouded , but he's doing this of his own volition (with much whining and histrionics and complaining).

I stand corrected. Although we've all had a taste of the histrionics.

In the meanwhile...I am planning to run today, come h-e-double-hockey-sticks or high water. The high water is a definite possibility, as it has clouded up again and they're saying we are going to get more rain. I only had six miles last week! I should have been closer to 20.
