It's a shame the lyrics are so raunchy. I would enjoy them a whole lot more if their lyrics were more like, say, Deep Purple. They wrote mostly about everyday life...cars and girls, but not every last song about sex.
On strictly musical terms, they are awesome. Simple, yet effective.
To mapachito, I heartily recommend "Powerage". Lyrically speaking, it's likely the best you will ever get from these guys.
The "Let There Be Rock" album is great, but a few songs on there are a bit too sexual for my liking. Most listenable cuts include the title track, "Overdose" and "Dog Eat Dog".
The EP " '74 Jailbreak" is quite enjoyable, though short in duration (5 songs).
"High Voltage" has a few good ones, as does "Dirty Deeds". "Highway To Hell"...great musically, but too much sex on the whole. Favorite cuts include "Shot Down In Flames" and "Beating Around The Bush".
...and of course, the live album with Bon "If You Want Blood".

I must be in the minority, but I infinitely prefer the Brian Johnson version of the band to Bon Scott. There was something about Bon I could never really get into, and I just like Brian's voice a lot better....

Picked up "If You Want Blood" remaster and "High Voltage" in the used bin. H to H and Powerage are my two most favorite albums. "Shot Down In Flames" that's on of my top five AC/DC songs of all time.

If it's their sound that you like, you may enjoy this CD that I picked up probably 10 years ago. The band is called New Jerusalem. They described themselves as a "Zeppelin-esk" ministry. They did sound a lot like Zeppelin, but I found them to sound even more like AC/DC. Really sorta cheesey as I look back on it and try to remember why I picked up that CD.

Went on the XM website this weekend and found out that they have a channel devoted to the band! I programmed it in on my remote. I went there a few times during the day when nothing interesting was playing on my usual channels. Heard "Long Way To The Top" a couple of times - excellent!

New CD comes out 10/20 at Walmart only
There is currently a re-released concert DVD "No Bull" at Walmart for only 10 bucks.
It was recorded in Madrid in 1996. Awesome as usual.

He only needs a snare, kick drum, high hat and crash cymbal. I don't think I've heard or seen him use anything else.

Phil Rudd has been their main drummer, but I preferred Chris Slade, who played with them back in the early 90's and can be seen on the Live At Donington DVD.
After AC/DC, Chris went on to a five year gig with ASIA (talk about a shift in musical style!)
I've never seen someone enjoy playing the drums as much as Chris does!

The music of AC/DC doesn't lend itself to extraneous, superflous drum fills or jazzy innovative bass lines. Their rythym section sets everything up for Angus to do his thing, and they do it by laying down one killer groove after another. In much the same way as do the rythym sections in two of my other favorite bands, ZZ Top and The Rolling Stones (although Charlie Watts is, in addition to being one of the finest rock drummers ever, also a very talented and gifted jazz drummer).
I agree with Chris Slade enjoying his work with AC/DC. Watching that Donnington concert it's obvious that he's having a great time.

So true, I play the bass myself. That's what I did when I was a beginner. Play the root and nothing else. It's what you call "faking it." I guess I should get rid of those fancy runs and stuff, because maybe I could have toured with a hard rock band.
I guess the only problem is that these guys are not beginners! But I still think they could have laid down a more complex bass line. Dave Ellefson of Megadeth didn't fall into that trap. A lot of the "pop" metal bands kept it simple, stupid, and anthenmic.
