Bob Dylan wanted to make one gospel album and then go back to what he does best. He just doesn't wear his Christianity on his sleeve musically much same the way Roy Orbison or Johnny Cash approached their music.

How about "Kyrie" by Mr. Mister (around 86 or 87?)

I always thot he was saying Kerry lays her on, or Carry lasers on... hahah. but...

"Kyrie Eleison" is latin for Lord have mercy... and if you listen to the lyrics its a full on spiritual Christian tune.

Their song "Broken Wings" has a very Christian vibe as well.

Hey everyone... first post here. LOVE this thread, and stumbled across while 'googling' some old artists I love. All the names brining back great memories!

In response to Rom1221, there was a christian band in the early 90s called East to West that re-made 'Kyrie'... and actually did a real good job. Unfortunately, it may have been the only good track on that CD. :(

Also, someone mentioned 'thank God the keytar is dead'... well... it's been brought back by an excellent Christian band these days... i.e. MuteMath. If you can catch their latest video or concert on YouTube, you'll see that famed instrument back in all its glory. :)

I loved many of the bands already mentioned, but leaned towards the Rock/Alternative side of things. For whatever reason, Geoff Moore and the Distance always struck and chord with me... and was always at the top of my list of favorites. Nice to hear his latest stuff, although he has mellowed a bit... but guess we all do given 15years or so.

Lovin' this topic and board!

Coming back? They've had a couple albums in the last 2 years, not to mention a tour. Michael Sweet has done some things with Genr8xion Entertainment for their last two movies "One Night With the King" and "Noelle" (which he acts in).

Don't mess with Stryper...I loved them then and now. BTW, they don't wear spandex anymore. You can check both Michael and Stryper pages on myspace.

Hubby just picked up a Giant cd and an Allies cd from goodwill.

Which Giant CD? I think I still have Last of the Runaways. Great CD...totally under-rated. It actually got a decent amount of secular radio play here in Chicago back in the early '90's.

A while ago I found a CD version of "Knock, Breathe, Shine" by Jacob's Trouble. I didn't know that "These Thousand Hills" was originally their song. I love "Further Up, Further In".

I've also bought some of the "Oldie" CD's that Don Francisco has available on his site rockymountainministries.org good stuff!

All of their CDs were good - especially the ones they did with Mark Heard. Good call.

Has anyone mentioned Crumbacher? Sorry, I tried going through the pages and realized there was 10. They were Christian new wave. I had never heard of them until a friend broke out their record, it was pretty great. X-Ray Eyes is an awesome song..."God is watching you, watching you..with his x-ray eyes"

I just picked up their first two albums on one CD on ebay. Escape From the Fallen Planet is really good synth pop - heavy on the keyboards, but really good. I am thinking of adding the song 'Crashlanded (In Another Time Zone)' to the rotation on Christian Alternative Radio. I already have 'Track You Down' from Incandescent on there.

I also won Tame the Volcano on ebay last week, but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet. Couldn't pass it up for under $5 before shipping. Previously I had it only on tape format, but preferred to have it on CD. Anyone familiar with that release? How is it?

Have any requests for additions to the song rotation for Christian Alternative Radio? Playing alt rock from the 80's and 90's, I will be adding a good number of new songs to spruce up the playist in the next few weeks, so here's the chance to put in your two cents.

Christian Armor Radio, playing rock, metal and alternative from the 80's and 90's, already has increased the overall number of songs in the playlist. Check it out for something a little heavier from that era.

I thought that they were mentioned but perhaps they weren't. Tame The Volcano is an excellent Album, and Incandescent isn't bad either, although that one a lot of the songs sound similar.

I love Servant. They spent a week at a Christian camp I worked at one summer. They really spent time with the staff and became friends with us that week. Then that fall they gave a concert near my house and I got to go see them again.

I think it's a shame how Christian music manages to erase the memories of so many of it's older artists. While Petra is still a recognizeable name, I'm willing to bet that none of our younger board members remember Bash or Servant, etc.....

Couldn't agree more (new user, first post)...as a 21 year old. At least with the secular ones, every now and then you'll see an infomercial with a compilation by decade, year or theme. Why has this not been done (with the exception of a few praise & worship compilations here and there) in the Christian music scene?

Hi everyone! This is my first post. Obviously, you can tell by my login name which 80s band I love!

I also want to mention LIAISON - Tim and Lary Melby's band. Great stuff! I wish both bands still existed. It seemed like any band under the Frontline Records label back then was just golden.

Welcome to forums Josie77, Market42fan and IdleCurefan!

Anyone remember the band Legend at all? They were the first official Christian Rock band signed on Word records when they moved in a new direction.

Also, any Jon Gibson fans as well?

The Choir had some good stuff! My personal favorite was "Wide Eyed Wonder." If this Album came out today, I am sure that the title track would be a crossover hit!

And yes, wasn't DC Talk rather cheesy prior to Jesus Freak as well?

Hoi Polloi is another good band too! I had their self titled album instead.

BTW, its been reported that Ray Boltz has become public and told people that he is gay. I am shocked!
