ORIGINAL: zoebob Actually, I associate him with the villian in Elmo in Grouchland. In Princess Bride he's so much younger I didn't make the connection. Hope this isn't too much of an off topic post but I thought you might be interested in the Mandy Patinkin IMDb link. Although Princess Bride is my favorite, his work in Alien Nation is also very entertaining. Patinkin's departure from Criminal Minds is a shame.

He also played in a Sci Fi series "Dead Like Me". He was pretty good in that one. A character much like Gideon. I missed the episode last night, did he off himself or just walk away?

Actually, it was more like 60 seconds, 30 at the very beginning and another 30 at the end. He will surely be missed. Too bad Hodge's wife left. And that regional director - what a piece of work!

I don't know - I guess I can kinda understand the feelings of Hotch's wife. You never know when your husband is going to be gone, never know where he's going and never know what kind of crazy criminal he's facing. To add to it you are essentially a single parent if you have kids. There comes a time when you've had enough and really wish your husband would have a regular schedule and be there for you and the kids. I was very happy to see Gideon just drive away. He needs his happy ending too. Blessings, Garsy

I was glad too that Gideon just drove off. I sure didn't want them to kill him. So glad too Hotch is back that he isn't leaving the group. I can see your point about Hotch's wife, but I'm old school you support what your husband does & make the best of it. I spent the first 18 years of my marriage as a navy wife, that wasn't easy but I did it.

I guess it depends on if she KNEW this was his career goal in the beginning or it was kinda sprung on her. I totally understand supporting your husband regardless. My own dh has held so many different jobs and so many different schedules over the last 15 years that there have been times that I've had him post a schedule on the back door like I do with the kids to keep track of him! Anyway, Blessings, Garsy

Hotch has a very dangerous position, and I can understand his wife's concern and frustration as the danger level has escalated, especially with a young child. I do agree, however, that this was probably something that should have come up early on in the relationship. Will be interesting to see how they foil out the character.

In the last episode of the first season, Hotch tells the story of how he met his wife in college. It's a great episode. Also, Hotch started off as a prosecuter before he entered the FBI. It's great to have the DVD's for the first season.

So what does everyone think about the new person they will be bringing into Criminal Minds? They are bringing Joe Mantegnia in starting with the 6th episode of the season. I like him but not sure how he will do with the cast - I guess it all depends on how they write his character. It will be interesting to see...afterall I wasn't sure about Hotch since I figured I would always see him as Greg from Darhma & Greg :o) but I really think they did a good job with his character and he had been really good too!

Anyway...back to CM I really liked that Dr. Reid was confronted about his freudian slip about Gideon's letter to him being just like what his dad did to him and his mom so many years ago...

[threadjack] You don't think Christian Bale played that part well? [/threadjack] WARNING: OFF TOPIC RANT. I"ve only seen parts of it so I really can't judge properly. However, and this is probably an idea for a different thread, I don't like when they try to re-invent the story, much like they are trying to do with STar Trek, going back and trying to find a young Kirk, Spock, and McCoy. I didn't like Enterprise for that same reason. They should have stayed with The original story line with both stories, and Batman should have stuck with Keaton. BACK TO CRIMINAL MINDS I will be patient with the new cast member of CM. I do kind of wish they had killed off Gidion. BEcause if the ratings tank, then Mandy can come back very smugly and say "I'll rescue you for more money"

What is up with that? Maybe this will increase the faith of everyone on the team...especially after last night.

Well, I adore Garcia just like I adore Abs on NCIS...I am so bummed, but the previews gave me hope she'd be ok. I want to know what this guy had against her...what was it that that he found out she did that put him or someone else in prison...or got them killed or whatever. And, it nearly made me cry that she got her feelings hurt by Mr. Thing and hung up on him.
