Musicians often have them; comtemporary Christian musicians included. But you must know your own music environment, I guess.

Take care.

I've always wanted just the one ear pierced, but since I do Christian music in fairly conservative surroundings, I figure I'd better not do anything that might cost me work!

I've already got longer than normal hair for a guy, so I'd better not push it!

I pierced my ear way back when i was 20 yes i am 38. Now my view is that i look at who wears earrings in todays world. All i see is guys with earrings and tatoos( offensive ones) and i work in a grocery store.I look at them and i find it hard to believe that they would go to church. I would look at any guy with an earring and wonder why he would try to be like the world and not be like christ (no earrings there.)I realized that it does not make the person, but you will get judged by what you wear, say, look like. We all have different views of things but it is you decision.

Christ also didn't wear pants. Should men stop wearing pants?

We should all wear the fribbles that the Mozart'ish person in your avatar is wearing.

I quite agree! Incidentally, that person is Hugh Laurie (more commonly known to us Yanks as Dr. Greg House) in Black Adder - acting alongside Rowan Atkinson, in one of his most un-Mr. Bean roles.

Fine; I guess you mean that you dont wear your earring any more.

Quite a lot of young men from Christian families do have them, of course.

But anyway...

ManimalX:

Do you really feel that for there is an 'appropriateness' thing as regards earrings for older / younger guys? So many have them, and for younger guys the earring thing seems almost like a 'rite of passage', which moms or dads actively encourage.

I'm all against worldly conformity.

It's just so widespread, including with many Christian families, anyway.

I had both of my ears pierced many years ago. My motivation was totally vanity and image. ...
The same thing with tattoos. When God restored my marriage 5 years ago, I was going to get a tattoo that said "God who restores" in Hebrew, as a testament to a big event in my life. However, I just couldn't quite my conscience that was telling me that I was doing exactly like the rest of the unsaved world, and that some of my motivation still would have been vanity and image. So I remain tattoo free, which is a rarity in my generation (I'm 30).

Just for the record, this is a completely personal choice. My wife has tattoos all over and I don't have a problem with it. All I can do is know my own motivations before God.

Back in college in 1983, I got my ear pierced by a friend's girlfriend one night after several adult beverages. Eventually, I had three of them in the one ear. It was cool and fun back then because it was still controversial and dangerous. It's mundane and played nowadays, of course, much like tattoos and long hair (on fellas, which I also had) and basically pointless outside of the personal taste of the wearer. Mine have since healed shut, because when everyone had them, it ceased to be any fun.

Hi, the OP is 37 and just pierced his.

I hear your reasoning.

I guess his experience was different.

I guess they are mainstream, in some ppl's eyes.

For you they were more a being different thing, I suppose.

Take care.

Hi, the OP is 37 and just pierced his.

The OP seems confused. His profile says his DOB is 7/7/1970. That would have made him 38 for over a month when first posted.

We could ask for clarification but he joined, posted a thread, and mysteriously vanished like certain others. I always wonder about those kinds of OPs...

I am more interested with the obsession over pierced ears in males that certain members on this forum exhibit. Not really interested, actually, annoyed would be more accurate. I mean, what is that really about?

I wonder if he ever got his ears pierced...

He said he did, but he also said he was a year younger than his profile...

Other than noticing this thread is over a year old and hanging on I only read the first line and skimmed the rest.

Not a big oops, who'd of thought a topic would hang on so long without the OP showing up.

Well, did anyone notice if he actually had 2 ears? Or maybe he only had one.......or does a pierced ear mean you now have 2 holes in each ear or still just one........or are you holier than those without..geez, the implications.....I still wonder why one be so obessed over it though...oh, don't get me wrong, I don't loose any sleep over it.........still......

Not since 88 or 89. They're completely healed over, leaving only small divots.
