We have Panera bread in abundance in the south, and we like them. I've never heard of Spicy Pickle.

I want to find a Cheesecake Factory.

Looks like the closest Cheesecake Factory to you, Kerr, would be Nashville. You might try writing to them and seeing if you could interest them in putting one around here in Eastern TN... let me know if you have any luck!

We don't have the Cracker Barrel over here.

You're not missing out on anything Trish We don't have them here either
We have Cracker Barrel... I just don't eat there...

And you call yourself a Christian and a SG fan.

I get breakfast no matter what time I go there.
I do call myself both. The Cracker Barrel here has food that tastes wayyy too salty for me. I'm not a fan of salt in anything. So when I taste food that is like "food flavored salt", I lose interest.

We don't have Cracker Barrel out here. I've never eaten at one.

I feel deprived

I've never even seen one, so don't feel too bad.

I think those of you who have never been to Panera Bread or Spicy Pickle are more deprived than those who have never been to Cracker Barrel
Nope, if you've never been to a real diner that's deprived.

Diners are probably one of the top 5 reasons to live here. And we have more in my county than most states have. That one on Rte 34 in Collingswood is right around the corner from work. There was one by the train station around the corner from my apartment that we affectionately called The Roach Coach. I mourned for a week when they closed it.

I bet the roaches did as well.

Bill, a couple of months ago, that spiked blonde-headed guy on the Food Network was doing tours of diners through New Jersey.

Can you guess who I was thinking of during that show?

Sounds like your favorite show would be "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" on Food Network... (Click the link)

Interesting. If you go to www.foodnetwork.com and scroll down the right side to "Choose a show" you will see it in the selections there. Sorry!

Well, it's working now . . . although it's vascillated several times from loading a page correctly to giving me the "no results found" message. It hink something's going on with the Food Network site itself.

Bill - HERE's the specific show I was mentioning in the post above.
How many of those diners listed have you been to?

I enjoy Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, too :) I wish I could go with him on every show! I'd love to try all those wonderful and unique dishes. the only place he's featured that I can go to regularly is The Squeeze Inn

I was watching the show a few weeks ago when I realized I'd been to one of the diners on his show...The Virginia Diner in Virginia (of all places!). It was when I flew out to Ohio to meet up with Laura and Di and we drove to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We stopped there to eat, and the food was good :)

A few years ago I was in the hospital and didn't eat anything for several days.

The interesting thing is that I watched the Food Channel the entire time.

Well, yeah! What's your point?

LOL! I know. I just have an aversion to seeing grease sitting on my food! But we do go to Waffle House for breakfast when I'm visiting Britt and it doesn't get much greasier than that. I may have to wear a blindfold when I walk in and not look at the kitchen area or the hashbrowns, but man, are they yummy!

quote:

Have Britt take you to one while you are visiting her.

That's a good idea...I'm sure they have one out there.

Ummmm, Jimmy Hoffa?

James, I love DDD! I want Guy Fieri's job. I'll spike and dye my hair, already got the beard thing goin' on, and I'll try just about any(food)thing once.

None of those, although the guys that own this place have probably eaten at the one in Barnegat cuz that's where they live. He didn't come anywhere near the part of the state where I live. Now from this list, I've eaten at the All Seasons, Americana in Shrewsbury, The Ocean Circle (now defunct), The Roadside, The Blue Swan (which isn't llisted), The Raceway Diner (not listed), The Golden Bell (not listed), and the Sandcastle (not listed). I loves me some diner food!!!!

Over here it seems the Lutherans, Presbyterians and Baptists are not religion.

Food is.

Food is an essential part of Baptist ritual.

For once, I'm not hungry. Just as well, considering it's the early hours of the morning here.
