Harriet Tubman was an awesome woman, Marsha. I would like to read her biography.

My Ohio friend with CP who is living in Alberta (2 provinces away), dropped by for 5 minutes today (she's here for a wedding). I asked her how her family near Columbus managed. They were without power for 4 days. I'm sure glad that old tree didn't land on your house!

Yeah. She moved to Canada to marry a friend of mine whom she met online (I knew him first). I think I've told you about a friend of mine who has CP. This is her. She's pregnant with her first child. I hear her concerns for her future and I think of you, a generation ahead of her, dealing with so many of the things she has yet to face.

How severe is her CP? Do you think she has the gumption to care for the baby?

She's got tons of gumption and a very supportive husband. She uses crutches to get around but is realizing that she'll need a wheelchair once the baby comes because no way can she manage crutches and carrying a baby. I noticed that her body alignment has become much, much worse than when I saw her last--probably because of the pregnancy. I worry about her but try to keep those worries to myself because there is no point in discouraging her. She's also a strong believer and will be (and is) depending on God for all things.

You changed your handle!

Maggie, you're right to guard against discouraging your friend. She probably knows her limitations. She'll need cheerleaders, not nay sayers, when things with the baby get hard.

I knew in my heart of hearts that i could do it. God does provide that amazing grace annd, of course Don was a help, in ways.
I'm probably paying, physically, for those days now, but I wouldn't have done things any differently. Well, maybe I would have given a little more and complained a little less.

My evening aide won''t be here. A family crisis. What are young girls thinking or not thinking when they have baby after baby with no spouse. They don't make sacrifices that motherhood involves. They pawn them off on any and everyone. My own sister is fighting for temporary custody of her son's baby.
Now Nina, who is all this girl has, has a crisis where her niece apparently beat her 4-year-old son. She has a 15-month-old and another on the way.

It's sad, Marsha. And child services, at least here, are overstretched and unable to do the job they're supposed to do.

yeah, Maggie, I changed my user name. At 55-years old, I've decided my middle name is better than others given to girls these days. A family name not passed on to my boys.

I kid them and say I should have named one of them Marshall Blake.

I wish I had given my boys my maiden name as a middle name. The idea never occurred to me. You could have worse middle names than Blake.

That's become a very popular thing to do in my family with at least 4 grandchildren/great-granchildren now sporting Asher as their middle or even first name.

Marsha, I hope the aide can work it out soon, and be back to tend to your needs.

Apparently not enough. We had a child in their care die a week ago because the workers are overworked and the agency is understaffed.

She's independent. The agency was undependable, which is why I hired her. She's more reliable, as her job depends upon it.

I'm trying to stay awake. Maybe I'll try and watch some movies later, depending on how I feel.

I have no voice right now.
