finally, conversation pics up when I'm not around. Gee, trying to tell me something, guys? lol

I can tell that Ben has read Green Egg's and Ham.

Talking about favorite toys, my dad bought me a stuffed monkey with a plastic face, hands and sneakers. I called him Jay-Fred Mugs or was it J. Fred Mugs? anyway, I loved that monkey better than any toy I ever had.

Hi Marsha. How are you doing?

How are you managing to spend your days?

What movies do you want to see on Netflix?

we were without power for 24 hours. We had a horrible wind storm yesterday. I've never seen anything like it.

It sounds like you got it worse than we did, Marsha. No power for 24 hours would have been awful. Are you guys ok?

Marsha's name appeared on my Online Buddy List yesterday. But maybe she didn't feel up to typing. With Cerebral Palsy, sometimes all you want to do is read threads. I don't know what Marsha's typing speed is, but I suspect typing's harder for her than it is for me. Sometimes the lengths of her posts amaze me!

Hi everybody. Yeah, we're all fine. A few impatient souls were trying to clean their yards before Ike passed and got hit in the head by flying branches, but no serious injuries. As far as I'm concerned, they had it coming. We Ohioans never saw the likes of it before, not since 1950, before life began for many of us.

I made it surprisingly well, thanks to the boys. Nate came home with double cheeseburgers and fries. Not my favorite, but it was food. Fortunately, a couple food places kept power. The lines were upwards of half hour.
Then he high-tailed it right back to Lowe's for batteries and more lanterns. Once I got my radio on WHIOAM, I felt less isolated. Also, we learned how widespread the power loss was. 300,000 households without.

We were blessed to have power, almost exactly 24 hours later. The next day, Pat came to use my oven and bring the first load of food to put in my upright freezer. Her power came on before she made it with the second load. My aide didn't get power back until Thursday and about 3,000 in one community are still without.

I was discouraged when I realized that my bed was stuck with the back up. I could not sleep like that. Tim just took me to the living room and lifted me into our really comfortable recliner., I finally found use for my body pillow. I thought to put it under my knees, which made me very comfortable. I sleep quite well, actually. The thought of sleeping there another night didn't alarm me, but I was thrilled I didn't need to.

Posting here does usually take a lot of time. Like now. I don't have time to do other things. Also, I must share my computer with three other people. Deb is right. Some days, my symptoms from cp make posting not fun.
I've been spending time in other threads.

I've been feeling much better overall, lately. I realize that I am loved and that makes so much difference.

Marsha, I see you online sometimes too, and wonder how you're doing. You've been on my mind a lot lately.

I'm glad you got some comfortable sleep in the recliner with your body pillow. It's good that you don't have to keep sleeping like that though.

We know you'll post when you can, Marsha. But I do think people honestly don't realize how much more slowly you and I type, Marsha. I can't imagine having to share a computer with three people, and then do all the stuff I do with it. I'd have to drop these forums, for sure!

Wow, Marsha! I wasn't thinking about Ike affecting your part of the country. It really wreaked havoc, didn't it? And it was only a level 2 hurricane (albeit, a very wide one). What would happen if one that size but stronger came through? I can't imagine. I'm glad you made it through okay and that Nate and Tim were such a great help to you.

It was so strange, Maggie. It was warm and sunny. I read online, 'dangerous wind warning.' and figured it was just the usual wind advisories that we have from time to time. Then what I heard saw out my kitchen window drew me to open my living room door. The trees were blowing just like I'd seen on news covering hurricanes, minus the rain. I'm just thankful that huge, ugly old sycamore tree just west of our property didn't cause damage.

They say it was a once-in-a-lifetime freak of nature. Had it been raining, we would not have had the wind event. I can't say why, but that's what the meteorologist said.

When my hand is relaxed, I can peck away, but when it contracts tightly, forget it. I need to make something like a pointer attached to a griper.

Deb, don't you know the county sent the Senior Citizens' van to take me to a doctor appointment on Thursday. sigh...I guess 55 is the magical age around here.

Since I have sooo much time on my hands, I've started learning more about things I've been interested in, but never learned much about, such as African-American history and culture. I recently watched a 3-hour moved about Harriet Tubman, A Woman Called Moses It was very good.

The only way I can watch movies like that is to remember I'm watching a part of history. I can't get emotionally involved or I plummet into such sadness. That doesn't describe it

Oh my, Marsha! You guys really did get hit . . . we got some of that, but apparently missed most of the wind, and got the rain instead. We were without power only about 8 hours, so I tried not to complain.

I know it must take a lot out of you to do simple tasks at times, Marsha (& Debbie) . . . I'm glad you are able to come in and post as often as you do.

Marsha, (and Deb), I'm glad you do spend the amount of time online that you do. I have a friend that has CP, but not as bad as you do. It takes her quite a bit of time to type etc as a result. I'm glad we get you here when you are here.
