ORIGINAL: KingsmenQuartetFan Hey Robert, Can you bring the Kingsmen back to the South Georgia area? Bill Bailey isnt doing much SGM promoting down here in South Georgia like he used to. I used to could count on Bill Bailey to bring the Kingsmen down to Waycross, GA every summer at the all-night sing That's a little far for me to promote concerts. I struggle enough in the North Atlanta area.

Kingsmen haven't been in our area for sometime. I had my choice of 4 groups for the date in June and I chose the Kingsmen because they haven't been around here. Hope we can have a great turnout that evening. Because of attendance in the area I've cut my concerts down to 4 next year. Had nine this year. I have already reserved 3 dates for 2010 but no contracts yet, just got dates on hold.

Yea...I hate to hear that Robert...I feel bad for the promoters. Hopefully You can get the Kingsmen back in the Atlanta area. I noticed on the Kingsmen schedule on Harper Agency's website that the Kingsmen will be in Bainbridge, GA at a church on November 1st. Bainbridge is like 2 and a half hours from my home here in Fitzgerald and Im going to see if me and my dad can make it to that concert. quote:

I have a question...... I was thinking about the Kingsmen and their lack of finding that perfect piano player to fit their style. I was wondering.....now that it has been close to a year.....do you think that Nick Succi would come back or have they even pondered asking him?

Thats a good question but I doubt they would because Nick is back in Canada with his family and I believe he is back in college working on a degree. I would love to see Nick come back. I miss the Hammond organ quote:

I have only been to 1 Kingsmen concert this year! I used to go to like 2-4 Kingsmen concerts a year because they was down here in South GA alot quote:

I had to weigh seeing an hour and a half concert and vs. paying bills. Bills won out. I suspect that's why the concert numbers are down. The groups and promoters can either lower prices, bring in more groups to entice people, or fold up I guess. I don't go to football and baseball games either anymore for the same reason. Cashflow

Cashflow BillBaileyBFAFan, I don't know your financial situation, but if you really want to see the Kingsmen again - why don't you save your money for the next time they come to your area? . . . . If they won't be returning to your area any time soon, keep saving, then you'll have the money to see them when they do come around again. I know bills demand attention . . . but if the Kingsmen only came to my area once a year or less - I'm going to make it a point to be there when they do come around! Well I appreciate the advice. My wife and I do plan on saving what we can over the next several months and are going to try to see at least a night of the NQC next year, or get Dollywood passes next fall for the Southern Gospel deal over there I can really see SGM struggling in our tough economic times, more than other forms of music, simply based on the type of crowd they draw. Older folks for one, and church folks for another. Older people are usually on a fixed income and church folk are usually fairly tapped out supporting ministries of thier own churches. That means entertainment and para-church giving are the first to get the ax.

If you support ministries, be it singing or preaching, God will honor that, and will bless you in return. This is the only place in the Bible that God says to test him. The more you give, the more you get.

If you support ministries, be it singing or preaching, God will honor that, and will bless you in return. This is the only place in the Bible that God says to test him. The more you give, the more you get. Where do you take it away from? Fact is everyone has a finite amount of money. Do you take it away from your regular church giving? Do you take it away from missionary giving? Also, you have to consider the stewardship of your money. You have travel costs, meal costs possibly, and depending on the type of event, lodging. Would spending 100.00 on a trip to a SG concert be less prudent or more prudent than giving that 100.00 in church. Remember only a small porition of the total you spend on a concert does anything to further the gospel. The 50.00 in the gas tank sure doesn't. The meal you eat along the way doesn't help the gospel any. My point is that when times are hard, you DO have to think carefully about spending money, and spend it where it does the most good.

Would it be smart to spend all your money traveling to concerts and ignoring your bills, and giving to your local church, where you know the money is administrated wisely? God never promised us wealth in this world, but treasures laid up for us in heaven.

If I knew that the Kingsmen were going to be in my area and I was low on funds, you better believe I would come up with the money by either taking on some extra work or selling a kidney if needed. They only come around here (Grand Rapids, MI) about once a year, and I need my Kingsmen fix.

Here is hoping Brian reads this.... I absolutely love the Kingsmen....what a wonderful honor for Ray to be inducted into the SGMA Hall of Fame! I love all the stuff on the Myspace page as well. I was wondering.......are their plans to completely revamp the website? It is outdated and does not look like it is being taken care of. If you need ideas....look at the Oak Ridge Boys page....www.oakridgeboys.com
