ORIGINAL: Jeff2006 I saw the Kingsmen on Saturday. They seem to have gotten lost on a lot of their songs. They tried 4 times before they finally got "Love Will Roll the Clouds Away" off the ground. Jason Selph was playing bass guitar. What was wrong???? They couldnt get the right key or something????????????

ORIGINAL: danielmount JimC--how neat that you get to see some of the retired greats live and in person. I've already pretty much accepted the fact that I'll never see Jim Hamill with the Kingsmen in person. How likely is it that he would come to northern Ohio to appear with the Kingsmen? I've been really blessed in that regard. Last Winter I went to a local church to see the Perrys for the first time. Seated directly behind me was Mark Fuller and Eva Mae LeFevre, and right across the aisle was Vernon Klaudt.

I just got word from the Kingsmen office(via phone call) that the Kingsmen are going to have their 50th Anniversary Celebration either March 2007 or April 2007. They are going to do a "live" CD and DVD.

ORIGINAL: DJSfromCleveland I wonder if they would invite all those former members that they had on the 40th reunion video / Perfecting the Crown, and the Asheville Reunion/ Back to the Beginning. Although with the exception of Eldridge Fox and Frank Cutshall that have both passed away since those reunions. Then i wonder if Parker Jonathon would be there? Of course, Anthony Burger has passed away since that reunion as well.

I am positive that the former members of the Kingsmen will be there. On the other hand, I doubt that Parker Johanthan will be there because I asked Ray Dean Reese if he has heard from Parker and he said no. He called his phone and he never returned the call. I wonder where he is????????????? Kinda strange I think.

Daniel, How far are you from Shipshewana, Indiana? The BlueGate Restaurant (I think that's the name of the place) has a LOT of top drawer SG groups there all the time....Gold City, etc. Since Indiana is next door.....check it out....

Thanks for the suggestion. According to Google Maps, Shipshewana is 220 miles away, or 4 hours 41 minutes.

Hi Josh, It was because the key was wrong. It was kinda funny because all of them were off when the piano quit playing.

Hey guys, got to see the Kingsmen tonite (Thurs 9/28) in Wilmot, OHio. It's about an hour and a half drive south of Cleveland. They were all in good voice and sounded terrific tonite. They sang most songs from Good Good God, and Past is Past, plus some old ones like Love Will Roll the Clouds Away, The Glory Road, He'll Hold to My hand, and others. Nic Succi played a piano solo, he is fantastic , one of the best players out there today! His mom, aunt, and family members were in the audience from Ontario. The New Bass Player is, 19 year old Grant Barker, didnt say where he is from, but he sounds like he's been playing with them all along, didnt' miss a note, as far as i could hear, he seemed at ease, not nervous, and played great. I asked him if he is permanant , he said , he hopes so, he's still in a trial period. Tony said it was his first night playing with them, which is amazing. At the record table, they didnt have ANY of the new CD "Good Good God". Tony said, they can't keep enough of them in stock. I know they had em at NQC. Glad i bought mine before Nqc, via mail thru Springside. So i had mine to listen on the drive to and from the concert. It was a very enjoyable evening. Sorry i have no pics, have no digital camera, Wish i did to poste here, maybe next time. I did buy one thing, a Kingsmen baseball cap for $10.00. I had all the Cd's they have.

I recall spending my teenage years going to every Kingsmen concert within 100 miles of our South MS home. I look back on Ernie Phillips, Big Ed Crawford, Eldredge Fox, Jim Hamill (who gave autographs with a smile and enjoyed meeting everyone...even kids), Arthur Rice, and Anthony Burger with great pleasure. These stand out as ones who made some of the greatest contributions to the group in those days. I still measure tenors by Ernie Phillips. He had a great range, but was so smooth..... Hamill was a great entertainer. He could move a crowd in whatever way he desired, it seemed. Jason

Grant Barker is from Winterville, North Carolina, in fact he goes to my church. He is an awesome bass player and he can sing good too, maybe they will let him sing sometime. If he gets the position it will be awesome because I will have know someone who played bass for the Mighty Kingsmen

I think that is a great thing for a young person to play the bass for the Kingsmen. We need to have more youth in southern gospel music. I will get to get to see him tomorrow night and I will ask Ray Reese if Grant Barker sings.

I think you're deleting the final [ / q u o t e ] (had to space it out or else I'd really confuse the poor message board software!) Even if there are two there, they're there for a reason. By the way, you might not need to ask if Grant sings; jhp told us he does sing--unless, of course, your purpose is not to find out whether he can sing but rather whether Ray will admit to it!
