Hi Cherish405 I'm in Timaru. East coast South Island. Very very cold here at the moment. A good frost tonight and snow on all the hills.

Cool! One of the friends I used to go to school with ended up marrying and moving to Timaru. I can imagine it being very cold there. We're warmer than you are, and I'M cold!

Yep cold alright. The frost from last night made everything pretty white here this morning. I don't like the cold much.
Where are you from Trish? I have travelled through all Australian states except NT. how cold does it get where you are?

Gary, I'm in Perth. It doesn't get as cold here as it does there. It's only been down to 0.7 here this year. Nothing like the -6 I used to walk to school in in Gisborne. It'd be even colder where you are.

yep I'm fine. I'm a bit of a night owl. Also I do a bt of astronomy which all happens late into the night sometimes
I've been to perth. I worked for a bit in the Ravensthorpe area. Do you know it? I was on a cropping farm there. I got to know that area pretty well. I liked it there and I am still in contact with friends from there.
The minus 6 deg you had in Gisborne isn't too different to Timaru. It usually warms up a bit during the day then gets cold again late afternoon in winter.
How long have you been in Perth? I guess you get a lot of good weather there eh?

Yes, I know where Ravensthorpe is. Haven't been there though.
I moved to Perth in December, 1989. Yeah, it's not as cold here, which is good. It does get a lot hotter though, which is a bummer.

I hear it gets hot there. I met someone in Timaru who used to teach golf in Perth but he gave it up and moved here because of the heat.
how long and hot is your summer?

There's been the odd occasion when it's been 44 degrees. Very different from Timaru. The hot weather can start about November, (spring), and it can still be pretty warm in April.

44 degrees WOW!! That's hot.
At the other end of the scale, minus 17 deg is the coldest we've had in the hills near Timaru.

I couldn't imagine it being that cold! You can have it. My body complains just being in the cool temperatures we're having at the moment. It would completely fall to bits in your temperatures! (I have fibromyalgia).

Hi everybody. How are you all doing?
I've been making lemon butter today. My body is regretting it big time, but I'm glad that it got done. One of our neighbours brought over all the lemons off of his tree. We've given some away, and I'm trying to do something with the rest of them. I think we'll be giving more away! LOL!

yes. -17 makes me feel painful. Hands and feet anyway. That was a one off sort of day, usually it's around minus 3 or so in the mornings and gets up to 10 or 12 deg high on average in winter. Every day is a little different.

Yesteryda i baked choclate caramel slice - the only problem is that its just me eating it as the boy wont eat junk. I gave some to the neighbours but I really need to think of others to give it to. It was truly lovely though and would love to share some with you all. Come on donw for some tea and slice ;)

I think it will be stale by the time I return to work
Im still on parental leave after the adoption of my son and wont go back for another month or so. But I should bake more and take it into work when I get back - its a good thought. I need to clean out my cupboards any how:)

True, it would be stale by then, wouldn't it?
Use if for outreach? Take it to somebody in your neighbourhood that you don't know? Or to one of the families who've taken one of the other kids?
