One last post.

It's kinda sad how much I've dwelt on a TV show today, but this one really has been on my mind.

I wonder if Leon split up the team to show 'em who's boss; ya know, that they're so loyal to Gibbs that he's showing them that he can break them apart if he wants to. And he'll put 'em back together when they get the message.

OR...

He split them apart because he's hiding something (hence shredding that paper) and doesn't want them to come together and figure him out. On the other hand, maybe splitting them up will CAUSE them to search into him a bit more.

I was really starting to like Leon - I think what got me on his side was the whole interaction with McGee, when he knew what McGee was talking about and even suggesting ways to decipher the code. McGee was floored - he is so used to no one understanding him! I think he and Leon would have gotten along nicely had Leon not broken up the team.

Finally: I think that this reassignment fiasco will affect Abby greatly. She's so attached to everyone on the team; to split them up will be torture for her. The rest would be able to get over it faster, I think (if it were a permanent situation... and if it were real, LOL). I would think that Abby would be unable to function for a while due to the shock of it.

I love my girl Abby, so hopefully they won't break her heart completely.

I spent several days dwelling on it, myself.

I agree that Abby will have a tough transition, but I think that she, Ducky and Gibbs will pull each other through since they will be relying on each other a good bit.

It was funny how Ducky, Abby, and Palmer were "taking on" the others roles briefly at the beginning of the finale. My daughter wondered if they would be the new team, but I don't think they would since their work is so specialized.

Any new internet or other rumors concerning the fate of the team?

According to the Internet Movie Database, none of the cast members are currently scheduled to be on any other shows or in any movies, with the exception of Michael Weatherly (Tony), who is currently filming a movie.

That leads me to believe that the entire team will be back, except for Jenny of course.

Welcome to the NCIS fan club, Lady_Bear! I suppose this thread won't be very active until next season.

Maybe we should each write out our own scenario from the cliffhanger for the season premiere.

Who's gonna do what?

Will the new director even stay?

What's the truth behind busting up the team?

I just thought about something. Leon didn't ask the "old team" to leave the room after telling them their new assignements. Instead, he handed Gibbs three service jackets and said "Meet your new team." Maybe, just maybe, Leon, in order to show that he was the boss, did give orders to spilt up the team, and then immediately rescinded them and put the team back together.

I can see it now. The opening line of the season premier is from Leon: "The next time you mess something up this bad, the reassignments will be permanant."

That would be great, but I still have a suspicion that they will start off the season separated for a couple of episodes. With today's technology, they could still work together from separate locations somehow.

that's a good idea Jeff

but we gotta accommodate the new haircuts and makeup that inevitably happen with a season premiere so I tend to think the show will begin after the team has been separated a while and then they come together over some new case that involves each of them

or something specific to Abby and maybe Ducky and they all rush to their rescue

hmmm....

also don't forget that Ziva's position has been cut...she wasn't just "reassigned"...they mentioned about her whole job being cut. So there has to be some major changes there in some way too. Even if the whole team sticks together (in the beginning or after a few episodes), it is a great possibility that it will not be as it was before.

Oh well! My idea was a nice thought, even though it did have a few holes in it!
