preema - I'm sorry to hear about the problems that you have been having at work. I don't think that the cause of your problems is that you are cursed unless you have been worshipping other gods or involved in the occult (witchcraft, wicca, satanism, hinduism, or something like that). Even then it might or might not be that. But I do think it is interesting that your response to these troubles are that you want to know more about God. I'm going to tell you a bit about Jesus. I'm sorry if you know all of this already, but I thought I would explain it to you. I don't know what your background is - and if you've worshipped other gods in the past. If you have, you need to know that Jesus (Yeshua Adonai) is more powerful than any other god - he is El Elyon - the most high God. You can trust Him and He will help you if you believe in Him and follow Him. You mentioned a curse in your writings. Well, in a sense, you are right in that we are all under a curse unless we believe in Jesus. All of us are born into this world under the curse of sin. When Adam and Eve - the first man and woman - disobeyed God - He handed down a punishment - and that punishment was death. (Before that, people were supposed to live forever.) So Adam and Eve, instead of living forever, had children, grew old, and died. They died physically and also spiritually - they were no longer connected to God the way they were in the beginning. And one day, all of these people would go to hell, which is a place where there is a lot fire and pain - and a place where they would be separated from God forever. So Adam and Eve's children grew up, had children of their own, then died, and their children did the same and so on and so on until the present day. The children continued to disobeyed God - in fact, they had something inside of them, that was part of them, that wanted to disobey God. It became part of their nature. Have you ever noticed that you don't have to teach a kid to lie - they just somehow know how to do it? Why? Because it is part of their nature. This is called the "sin" nature. So not only do we commit sin (for example we lie or cheat) but we have the desire to do what is wrong. But, despite all of that, God still loved us and He had a plan. So thousands of years passed with people being born, growing up, getting married (or not), having children and dying. And one day, the miraculous happened - a young Jewish girl named Mary, became pregnant. But this wasn't a regular pregnancy, because she didn't touch (sleep with) a man. Mary gave birth to Jesus, who was fully divine and fully human - a man and God at the same time. Jesus lived a perfect life - he was the only human being to live that didn't have the desire to disobey God, nor did he actually disobey God with his actions. In other words, he was sinless. And he loved us so much - he did many miracles and healed many people. And he taught people. A lot of what he taught and did can be found in the bible. (The bible is one book that is made up of a lot of smaller books. Jesus' life can be found in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.) But ... even though Jesus was sinless, and wasn't cursed like the rest of us - he decided to die anyway. He was crucified - nailed to a wooden cross - and he died a very shameful death. When he died, something miraculous happened - because he was sinless - yet he died - he could pay the penalty for all of us. Yes, He did that for you and for me. So, when you say that you want to be a Christian and you believe in Jesus, you are really saying that you have accepted the fact that Jesus died for your sins (remember -- he didn't die for his own sins - because he didn't have any). If you accept that, then it means that the curse of sin that leads to death has been broken and you will no longer be under a curse. Does this mean that you won't die? Well ... it does and it doesn't. Jesus died, but three days later when his family and friends came to mourn him and to prepare his body as according to their custom, they found that his body wasn't there. What happened? Jesus came back to life - he was resurrected. And he had a new type of body - one that didn't age or would get sick. It was a body that would last forever - a spiritual body. He appeared to his followers and they were happy about it. This is what we will have too one day if we believe in Jesus Christ. In fact, after he came back alive again, many other people did too - even if only for a short while. But one day we will be alive again and it will be permanent. Jesus is also all powerful and can protect you from anything. Even though Jesus, who is God, is now with God in the highest Heaven, He left the Holy Spirit here for believers. So even though you can't see Jesus with your eyes, you can still talk with Him and listen to Him (this is called prayer). I hope that you consider these things that I've written and ask other Christians about them. But if you want to know Jesus right now, it is very simple. You can just tell God that you have done many things that are not right and that you are sorry about it. You can then ask Jesus to come into your life and to take away your sin. He will do it, and you will be saved (this is called "born again"). Here is a sample prayer. You can just say it right where you are - even as you read this: "Jesus, I know that I have done wrong things in my life and I am very sorry. I don't want to keep doing wrong things - to keep sinning. I ask you Jesus to come into my life. I know that you died on the cross for me and for my sin, and I accept it. Please save me Lord. " It is that simple. Jesus starts to make differences in your life - some of them will be immediate, some will take time. But little by little, he will start to give you the victory over many different things and can help you in all things, including your job as an RN. If you did just get saved, I'd recommend trying to find a good bible believing church. In the meantime, you can find some good ministries online (intouch.org is really good) that will give you a strong foundation. Reading the bible - especially the book of John should help you too. I wish you all of the very best. Take care :) - rgod
